We stayed in the Dene House a year ago and I should say it was a very special place to stay. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Specially a Spanish girl that was always very nice and provided us all the information about places such as restaurants and bars...She

I really enjoyed my stay at Dene guest house for a few nights. A small, quaint B&B in a typical Edinburgh New Town house. Simone and Jean-Pierre and the rest of the staff made me feel much welcomed. The single room was small and the shared bathroom is in the hallway but that

Dear ML123991, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us such a detailed feedback. This is very appreciated. :) According to what you are saying you stayed in our Small single room with shared bathroom. We are happy to read that you enjoyed your stay and that we have matched your expectations. We are located between New Town and Stockbridge in a very quiet area, out of the big traffic streets but still very closed to the historic city-centre and to the mains attractions. As you mention there are buses lines just around the corner (Lines 23, 27, 36 and 8) which are all majors lines and are very practical to take wherever you are aiming to go in the city. ;) Thank you very much also for mentioning the breakfast which we put a lot of efforts in. We are going to have it enhanced by a former head chef from Rose Bakery in Paris in the next few months, do not hesitate to come back to enjoy the improvements food-wise. :) The capital is also always proposing something new to visit or enjoy. We wish you a safe trip back and do not hesitate to recommend us to your family or friends. :)

A lovely guest house with very friendly hosts, the room was beautiful, clean and spacious and had everything you could need. Only a 15 minute walk to the very centre of the Old Town and close walking distance to lots of other attractions like the Botanics and Portrait Gallery.

Hello Jayne Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are very blessed having Thais among our small team and guests, not only our Spanish guests really like her. Luckily for Thais, her work day finishes at 1 pm. Unfortunately, many people think that running a guest house is "just chatting to guests" and let somebody else clean the rooms. My partner and me often work 6-7 days a week, starting from 7:30 am to 7 pm in the evening. A lot of administrative work is involved to run a guest house and as our office is within our private flat, guests do not see the daily work load we have there. We do our best that staff is all year around employed and not just seasonal. There is also an additional cleaning company coming to support Thais and we create work rotas for our staff as they want their days off. I am usually more present during breakfast and support our staff with housekeeping too but sadly I have recently been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my right knee, some guest do notice that my mobility therefore is quite limited and walking around along with stairs is quite painful. With regards to bedding we take great care about them and have put winter duvets in our rooms, washing & tumble drying them does create a little fluff on them but there is an additional duvet cover put over. Our cereal bowls are standard sized Churchill tableware and any guest who wishes to have a bigger cup or bowl is always welcome to ask. Our guests are welcome to help themselves as many times as they wish, so nobody is limited to just one portion. As a small guest house we are lucky being able to change fruit on display for breakfast quite often. Guests do appreciate to help themselves throughout the day to some hand fruit, as the breakfast room is open. We are soon offering a "Run your own B&B" course where people who wish to open their own B&B are able to get a real insight of the business. This could be a very good opportunity for candidates to understand and be fully aware of the massive load of work this industry is requiring. Overall it seems you enjoyed your stay with us and it would be a pleasure having you stay again with us. Kind regards, Jean-Pierre & Simone

Dear Tashacaroline, We apologize for the late reply. Yes, you do have breakfast included free of charge when you book with us directly. We offer a continental breakfast buffet along with a cooked breakfast menu (both included when you book directly - and you can choose as much cooked food as you like every morning) If you book through a travel agent you won't have breakfast included free of charge and you will have to pay a higher rate as well. There are also tea and coffee facilities in the room along with cookies, which gets topped up every day. For more information please visit our website: deneguesthouse. com Kind regards, The Dene Team

Dear Nadine, We apologize for the late reply. Our standard check-in time is 2.00pm. We always try to serve the rooms as soon as possible so most of the times guests are able to check in earlier than that. However, if we are not able to serve the room before you arrive we can store your luggage free of charge and give you some recommendations on what to do in Edinburgh while we clean the room. It is also helpful if you inform us before your arrival so we can keep housekeeping staff up to date. For more information please visit our website: deneguesthouse. com Kind regards, The Dene Team

¿Hay champú y gel?
Hi Maria, Thank you for your question. Yes, we do provide shampoo and body gel in all en-suites and shared bathrooms. :) That is actually a quite relevant question as we have sometimes been surprised by the absence of these products in some guest houses and B&B we have stayed at. ;) Do not hesitate to make your reservation on our direct website for the best rates and Full English Breakfast offered. Best regards, The Dene Guest House Team
