Evening meal for family of 4. We had booked an outside table but because of a local building fire we were contacted ahead of time and advised our meal would be inside, which was very much appreciated. Really good food. Excellent value. Burgers, salad, vegetarian fayre. The order was all done remotely at the table along with paying the bill. Can highly recommend

Very SLOW service Myself and 5 friends came here for drinks on a Saturday night. I had booked a table outdoors however when we got there all the outdoors were full and when I said I had a booking they seemed like they weren’t expecting us and squished us into a table by the door inside instead. We weren’t too pleased with this but we got on with it anyways. However, we waited over 20 minutes for someone to come and take our drinks order, my friend even had to wave one of the waiters over to get our order taken. We were sat right next to the bar and even after they had taken our order we waited ANOTHER 15-20 mins to get our drinks. Given the bar closes at 10 this was a massive waste of our time and we noticed the service was also slow on other tables too. Also, they advertised that we could get free shots if we had liked the Facebook page which we did, when we asked for these we waited another 20 MINS FOR SHOTS to be poured and given to us... just ridiculous. The service was so slow that we only got one round of drinks and decided to leave early as we weren’t willing to wait another 20 mins for a few pints. We won’t be returning. Very disappointed.

Fantastic vibrant bar/beer garden! So impressed with their COVID structure….executed to the highest degree. Funky decor and super friendly staff and with the backdrop of Edinburgh castle (viewed from their beer garden). Mike the manager was extremely hospitable and went the extra mile to make our party feel so relaxed and valued. 10/10!

I stayed in Kick Ass Grassmarket in August 2019 and it was great. The place looks great and dorms are very clean - although showers and bathrooms were not that clean. I was there during Fringe festival and although the city was full of people the hostel was always rather quiet (except from the bar) which was really nice. Bar, kitchen and common roms were great, but since the kitchen closed at 10 sometimes I had to rush to make dinner or get drinks on time. Coming from a country were we have late dinners and having visited in August which has longer hours, I would recommend for it to close later. Overall great experience, friendly staff and awesome loation. Would definitely come back!

Staying monday - wednesday, 2 nights. After arriving at the hostel my first impressions were hopeful, the reception and seating area were very stylish and modern. I then proceeded to my dorm, which was overlooking the main road, where there was a lot of noise already. After a long day of walking i decided to have an early night, after being in bed for about half an hour i started to itch my legs and my back, i looked and i was covered in bites, i was extremely disgusted and uncomfortable and did not get back into bed. I proceeded to look in the bed and found toenails, the bed was dirty and so was the room after further inspection, it had either not been cleaned or cleaned rather poorly. I then went down to reception to ask for fresh linen and a hoover, the staff were rude and hesitant to help resolve the matter and i was told in a very rude manner “its not their job to change beds”. She did change the sheets however was mumbling to herself and didnt say a word to me in the process. I didnt get a wink of sleep due to feeling extremely uncomfortable in the bed and the room being so cold which resulted in me leaving with the flu. It got to early morning and i decided enough is enough and got the train home first thing, meaning i had to cut my trip short. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted. Wouldnt want this to happen to anyone else!
