And I'm being kind because Trish took my booking over from another local B&B when the owner there decided to go on holiday - giving me less than a week of notice before my visit to Edinburgh! Everything about the Armadillo Guest House is dated and tired. My husband and I were in room 3 on the first floor. It...

This B&B is amazing value for money given its location (10mins walk to Princess St) and the fact it is spotlessly clean and comes with great breakfast options with plenty of tea/coffee and toast if needed! The owner Trish, and the rest of her staff were very helpful and personable and made us feel like no question was too much....

The armadillo guest house is run by a lovely lady called trish. She is very friendly and very helpful, nothing for her is too much trouble. The room we had was clean and tidy. Plenty of room too. Good selection of breakfasts to choose from, and the food was excellent. If I go to Edinburgh again I would definitely contact...

We stayed from 25th to 31st of July of 2014. It is a clean, cosy and friendly guest house. The breakfast is also good and you can choose among several options. It is also well located, just five minutes walking to the centre of the city. Everything was perfect and the landlord was very nice. Estuvimos del 25 al 31...

My stay at the Armadillo Guesthouse was great. The location is probably one of the best locations as far as Bed and Breakfasts go. You are located about 10 minutes walking from the Castle and 12 minutes walking from the Royal Mile. There are also many bus stops close by that you are able to catch that will bring you...

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighbourhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theatres and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
