Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed at this hotel for one night only. I was in Kirkcaldy to watch football - Raith Rovers v Dunfermline Athletic. I arrived by train from Dundee and it took me about 15 minutes to walk to the hotel. The hotel is a great find. The reception staff were welcoming and my room was modern, clean and very comfortable. I had a beer in the bar downstairs which was nice. The breakfast was absolutely superb in quality and quantity. There were 2 ladies serving it on the Sunday morning and they were both superb, so friendly, so polite, so welcoming and genuinely such nice people. I would recommend a stay at this hotel. It was a great find for me and I hope to revist sometime in the future.

Excellent hotel staff so Friendly, bedroom so comfortable. The whole Hotel is so clean. Food Amazing. The Manager Ann Marie fully hands on. No WIFi in the bedroom but in the public areas didn’t find that a problem.

Was visiting Kirkcaldy with family to visit family. The Hotel was spotlessly clean in every area, ate in the restaurant each night and a good choice of meals, my only negative would be the frozen veg ,same mixed veg choice no matter what the meal. With the standard of the Hotel I would expect a much better choice of fresh veg. We had a family meal on our last night with a party of 16, staff were amazing and they had set the tables up in a private room which was just perfect for us all, very friendly staff, the drinks we all found very reasonably priced for a hotel but the Jewel in The Victoria crown was our breakfast waitress each morning, absolutely nothing was too much trouble for her , friendly, chatty and professional. Will definitely stay here again next visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not overlooking the main road. Couldn’t open the window for long due to traffic...

We have stayed here a few times, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. The hotel is good value for money. The room was clean, warm and spacious with tea/coffee making facilities. The beds were really comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful hotel with excellent friendly staff who could not do enough to make our stay so enjoyable. The rooms were extremely clean, bright and fresh. The bed was so comfortable. As it was our Clan Gathering a number of our members also stayed including people from America who were all delighted with the hotel and staff. The food was of a very good standard and the prices were very reasonable for both food and drink. Ample fee parking available. Would not hesitate to return

Excellent period hotel apparently recently refurbished. First class experience all round - good food (generous helpings) and very friendly staff. Hotel is located very conveniently for Kirkcaldy centre and features a large private and secure carpark.

A large group of friends in a Clan Society met for two days. Accommodation was very comfortable and the meals very generous. The function room worked very well, with an attentive bar person and good acoustics for the dance music.

Macaroni cheese was really stodgy and tasted of nothing. Vegetable curry was like a boil in the bag meal, and strangely served with prawn crackers. We felt that the food owed a lot more to Brake Bros than to the kitchen staff.

I stayed in a family room with my sons. The hotel is fantastic! The room was big and nicely decorated with a huge new bathroom. I booked high tea in the restaurant, which was so good - service was exactly how hospitality should be. The lady that served us was so friendly and very professional. Food was good traditional food done very well. It's so nice to have everything homemade. I mentioned it was my sons birthday, so the lovely waitress put a candle in a lovely wee cake for him - most appreciated. The lounge bar is relaxing, and the gentleman serving us was lovely and chatty. Breakfast was served in the restaurant by the same lady. It was busy, but still, she served everyone efficiently and quickly with a smile. Cereals, juice, and yoghurt on buffet and cooked breakfast cooked to order. Once again, lovely good quality produce and cooked to perfection. I can't wait to find another reason to go back!

We were booked into this hotel from a Fife Coast Walking tour company. We arrived, checked in and received our room key. Our bags had been transported prior to our arrival. The front desk attendant, Stephanie, pushed our bags out to us and handed us our key. We got into our room, it was tiny. Our two large suitcases barely fit side by side with a walking path around them. After having walked close to 12 miles, all my husband and I wanted was a hot shower. My husband went in to the shower first, and all that came out of the shower head was cold water. We both fiddled with it for a few minutes, before I went down to the front desk. I told Stephanie what the problem was. I was told to run the water in the sink until it got hot, then the shower water would be hot. That did not work. I went back down to Stephanie, and was told to run the hot water in the sink, and run the shower at the same time, and it would get hot. That did not work. I went down a 3rd time, and Stephanie was having her dinner. I asked her to please come up and assist us. I was told maintenance would be up. I went back to our room and waited 20 minutes, maintenance never arrived. I went downs 4th time, now one hour since I had gone the first time, and found a very helpful young man named Gavin. He came up immediately, figured out there was no hot water and immediately changed our room, which was great. He had already tested the shower and it had hot water. Unfortunately, this room was smaller than the first, was located above the kitchen, and was about 80-85 degrees in temperature. We immediately opened the window, which helped a but. We found a fan out in the hall and dragged it into our room. It barely worked, but it was better than nothing. We we were both exhausted and fell asleep early. The room got stuffy as we had pulled the draped across the open window. We were also sleeping under a heavy duvet, and the bed had no top sheet. I quickly dismantled the duvet by pulling the heavy comforter out. Needless to say, neither my husband nor I were well rested for our 10 mile walk the following day. The lack of customer service from the front desk, the room size and the temperature of the whole wing our room was in is more than enough reason to avoid this hotel.
