We stayed one night while dropping our daughter at the university and it was perfect. Marion let us into one of our rooms early to leave our bags and gave us the low-down on life in St Andrews including several recommendations for restaurants within a few minutes' walk as Deveron House really is in the heart of town. We then used their guest pass to spend some time at the Fairmont spa and gym returning in time to try one of Marion's recommendations for dinner. After a fab Full Scottish breakfast including haggis, Marion wished us well and told my daughter to pop in if she needed anything or just to say hello. The rooms were very high standard indeed and recently refurbished. We could not find fault with anything and will certainly stay here when visiting our daughter.

Delightful B&B -- clean, comfortable, and quiet with exceptionally friendly and helpful proprietors. The location is ideal if you have business at St Andrews University (and it's an easy walk to the golf course and other town attractions as well). Good selection for breakfast, with hot items made to order. As a vegetarian, I always had plenty to eat. I will look forward to staying here again if I have the pleasure of another visit to St Andrews.

3rd time to this lovely B&B. Marion & Graham are so friendly, nothing is too much for them. Unfortunately we are their last guests as they are changing it in to student flats. Have enjoyed the last 3 years visiting here and enjoying their company. Good luck & best wishes for their next venture xxx

Good location and friendly welcome and nice breakfast.

Sorry to say I found the room we had to be on the grubby side.... I moved the bedside cabinet to plug in my hairdryer and the dust was very visible whereit had built up when the furniture had been vaccuumed around. Also the shower cubicle had mould on the doors and the rail which holds the shower head in place was very loose. The bathroom floor was a grey tile and there was dirt inbetween the tiles :( sadly the room and en-suite just felt grubby and I don't think the nice breakfast outweighed the lack of cleanliness.

Also 9sorry to moan) the room has one small mirror and no full length mirror so you need to know the clothes you have packed look nice on you!

I stayed at this B&B for four nights as my child was starting at the University. From reservation to arrival Marion was very warm and welcoming. Deveron House is ideally located and is very near to the University, it's opposite Yonger Hall and walking distance into the town. Free parking is located directly outside the B&B although it is often full but spaces start to become available after 5pm. The decor of the Bed and Breakfast is very dated so much so that it is rather depressing. The breakfast room seems to be the only bright room in the property. The room was very small and cramped, very dark and the window was covered up by a wardrobe, very dingy. Both room and bathroom were clean enough. The mattress had certainly seen better days as had the pillows which didn't make for the most comfortable nights sleep. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was fine with decent water pressure. The room had a small flat screen TV which worked well. However, at the top of the building the wifi was very unreliable so my advice would be to take a room on the first floor if you need reliable wifi and have luggage to carry. Breakfast was generally cooked to order by Graham who was again an excellent host. There wasn't a huge choice but what was provided was very nice.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are much quieter and rooms on the lower floor have better wifi and are brighter.

a short, two day trip associated with University business. Our host Marion and her lady friend from Dallas were wonderfully welcoming and extremely helpful in points of detail-- leaving bags, arranging for taxis, etc.

The room was fine, but the furnishings and decor could use updating a little-- King sized bed actually two singles lashed together. Shower booth rather ancient, with a ridge on the bottom that nearly broke a toe.

The Albany a few doors down is immaculate on points of detail, but is a hotel and likely much more expensive.

Fine breakfast, lovely folks.

On the plus side, the B and B is well situated in the centre of the city, on a main road; free parking on the street if you can find it. Friendly welcome with clear instructions (also, for once, coherent written info., e.g., about doorkeys, etc.). Breakfast ok, have had better (at this price). Room OK, rather sombre decor; coffee tea and biscuits provided; wi-fi worked, but occasionally faltered. Central heating seemed to work on a masterswitch - once it was off, fiddling with the radiator in the room made no difference. Advisable to give the heat a boost when it's working. Main drawback: room had a large - pleasant - sash window overlooking main street. No curtains, just flimsy white plastic blinds; which meant (i) street noise carried (fortunately, it wasn't a rowdy Saturday night, if they have those in St Andrews); (ii) impossible to darken the room in daytime if you want a siesta (which, after I along drive, we did); and (iii) combined with the c.g system, the room tend to stay stubbornly chilly, the curtainless window being an obvious source of heat loss. Suggest a big heavy dark curtain to supplement (or replace) the blinds.

Perfect location as right opposite the University so very handy for everywhere. Rooms were comfortable with good beds and linens. The breakfast was amazing and Marion just went that extra mile to make sure we were happy and all the little touches. Very hospitable host

Marion and Graham are the most lovely people who own the Deveron House. They are so very kind and welcoming and will help you with anything you need. Graham runs a non-for -profit helping wounded warriors heal by the use of golf in their lives which is a real testament to the kind of wonderful people that they are. In the mornoing Graham will give you driving directions to any location and help you plan your day if necessary. The House itself is lovely and there has been a recent refurbishing of the rooms since we were there last year. The breakfast is made and served by Marion and Graham and is delicious and will fill you up for the day. The House is located across the street from St. Salvators and the concert hall at St. Andrews University which is perfect for graduation or actually anuthing in the town. It is a 2 minute walk to the castle or cathedral ruin and 5 minutes to the golf course. There are many restaraounts within a 1-5 minute walk. We highly recommend the Deveron House.
