This was the second time that we had stayed at the wonderful Rusacks St Andrews. We had two rooms in the new wing of the hotel with stunning views of the 18th as well as the panoramic sea-front vista. This is a jewel in the crown of St Andrews and we will definately return. Staff who are super helpful and couldn't do more and such a great location to explore St Andrews and the lovely villages nearby.

Hotel's Favourite
Starting with the basics: the room (a double double) is new, big, very clean, very comfortable and the decor is stunning. Web site photos are spot on except the room is bigger than it looks on the web. Everyone we encountered working here is friendly and helpful. We ate in the pub and the food was good. The view of the 18th hole from the roof lounge is impressive. The location is great, and they have a parking garage. Which leads me to the standout aspect of the stay. ...On the first night we get a knock on the door. Wife answers while I am in the bathroom and says “no” to someone. I ask, what did they want. Oh, somebody with an MG has a problem in the garage. "WHAT” I say, we have an MG. In her defense our MG SUV rental was hardly the little British sports car you could get in the states in the 70s. We had just arrived from the states, no sleep on the plane, in a foreign country, finally escaping the covid lockdown, etc. I did not want to spend my first day on vacation dealing with a flat tire! But no problem, I am at Rusacks. Between the people behind the desk, the night manager, and the valets the flat was fixed by check out with literally no effort on my part other than uttering “Avis”. We stayed in 5 other higher end hotels on this trip. They all had very good service. But would this happen anywhere else, I do not know. We loved this hotel. It’s clearly the perfect place to start a Scotland tour.

This is a wonderful hotel. We visited with our family of 9 members and had booked three of the two double double rooms. They upgraded one of our rooms to the king room with a pullout sofa facing the 18th hole with a balcony and when we arrived in that room the sofa bed was already made up for us. The view was amazing. I can't say enough about Andy. He went above and beyond for our family. We had enjoyable experiences at the restaurants and with the weather being poor one of the days we were there, we were able to play snooker and had a nice place to play card games as a family. The rooms and bathrooms are cozy and nice. Everything was very clean. The hotel is in a great location as well. I would highly recommend staying here. As a point of reference we stay in 4-5 star hotels when we travel.

I had a lovely time staying at the Rusacks. The cocktails in the 18 were fantastic. The bartenders were busy but still very attentive. One of them was a St. Andrews student, and took the time to answer all of our questions about the university's history and the Old Course. Can't remember her name, but she was quite tall and very nice:)

Disappointing stay after giving it a try. Had stayed at the hotel before the refurb and wanted to see how it had changed. It has retained its character, although they missed a trick in that they could have added a more modern feel without destroying its character. That’s a question of style, so I have no problem with that. Our problems related to the room and breakfast. The room was very small - barely enough to walk around the bed and the bathroom was internal with no ventilation. The toiletries are sealed in tubes so take something sharp into the shower to pierce them. The room was nice enough but more 3 star I would say. Breakfast was a selection from a set menu. No offer of cereal or fruit if you went for the traditional Scottish. The portion was small and the bacon was very salty. Toast was offered and comprised two half slices. It was all underwhelming. We never had dinner in the hotel but went to the basement bar, One Under which had a great atmosphere with attentive staff. Indeed, all of the staff we met were very courteous. One thing though was that we were not asked how our stay was when we checked out. Overall it was disappointing and we wish we had taken up the alternative option of the Hotel du Vin which was the same price. I was looking forward to visiting the hotel but it was overpriced and poor value in our opinion. As an old hotel, I guess they can’t do much about the room sizes in the older part, but that’s where value comes into play. There are better options in St Andrews.

A fantastic experience from start to finish. It was seamless. Just as you would expect it should be. The dinner in the 18 Restaurant was lovely. We had a chateaubriand which was just perfectly cooked with a selection of sauces. Then shared a delightful passion fruit mousse with ginger ice cream - which was zingy, fresh and quite an experience. I have never tried snooker before but I did that night in the lounge and really enjoyed it! Nice to have an option to do something like this. Our room had a balcony looking directly onto the 18th green and was beautiful. A bottle of chilled prosecco and a birthday message written as well. Thank you! Our bed was large and very comfortable. My one and only negative was it would have been lovely to have a bath as well, only a shower in the room. We loved it and will most certainly return. Highly recommend for great service - friendly, professional staff who know the job, area and remit and happy to do it. It isn’t just about the location and the facilities - a lot of the experience is the service provided by the staff and this is what Rusacks undoubtedly exceeds in. We have stayed in Gleneagles, Greywalls, Cameron House and Rusacks and I can say Rusacks is up there with Gleneagles in ability to provide a fantastic, seamless, proficient and friendly/professional service.

We were greeted by friendly staff when we arrived at the recently updated and beautiful hotel. We enjoyed our morning breakfast at The Bridge—where we had delicious food, excellent service, and a fabulous view of the North Sea and Old Course while we sat in the beautifully decorated restaurant. Our room was beautifully updated and decorated too and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is centrally located for golf or going to town. We will be back!

Terrible experience. No possibility to have hot water, in none of the rooms. No parking spot left, very rude staff and hotel manager. Impossible to have breakfast or dinner since the hotel is crowded with external people. Dirty rooms / smelly and noisy.
