Travellers' Choice
We are a small, friendly, informal 3 star hotel. The first in St Andrews to be awarded the prestigious title 'Townhouse Hotel' by the Scottish Tourist Board. The quaint old building has a warm personality all of its own. You will love the craftsmanship of the many original features. Built from 1764, the hotel consists of two Georgian terraced houses, both exactly the same layout, built for two brothers by their father, Mr Thomas Low. With only 22 rooms (all en-suite), we are able to maintain very high standards in accommodation and service without losing our warm and caring attitude towards our guests. Special, great value seasonal, weekend and golf breaks are often available, so contact the hotel for details. The hotel will also be delighted to help arrange golf, sightseeing tours and visits to places of interest. We look forward to you spending some time with us at The Albany Hotel and getting a real flavour for everything St Andrews has to offer.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A traditional and comfortable family-run hotel well situated near the centre of town. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful, especially in helping us to find a good place to dine out. I would very happily stay there again.

Nice place and good service. Included breakfast in the downstairs dining room overlooking the garden was a nice touch. It's an older building but very charming, rooms were clean. Good location. Would recommend and would return. Overall good stay.

In a fantastic location with university, shops, bars and restaurants all on the doorstep - a 10 minute stroll will take you to the golf courses and Eden estuary. Fantastic hotel in the centre of St Andrews. Very easy to find. Very friendly staff. Superb breakfast. Very tidy and clean rooms. No allocated parking but plenty of spaces available on North Street. We will certainly return when we plan another golf trip.

A party of four of us stayed at The Albany during our 3 day golf tour. We were in the Garden Suite which was comfortable, warm and big enough for us all. The hotel met all our needs. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was excellent and the small bar was suitable for us to have a drink at the end of the night. Location was important and the hotel was in the middle of the town so that we could walk to nearby restaurants and bars and get to the golf courses within minutes.

From the minute we entered The Albany, we felt welcome, check in was quick & efficient. Our room was conveniently situated on the ground floor which suited us. The room was clean & well equipped with a generous hospitality tray. We enjoyed a most comfortable stay with a delicious breakfast. Before setting out on our homeward journey we asked where we could find public toilets & were invited to use the hotel facilities even though we had previously checked out, this was much appreciated as we had a 140 mile drive ahead.

We had a wonderful week in February at The Albany Hotel as we visited our daughter and celebrated our 40th Anniversary. We brought our family of 5 and rented 3 rooms for the week. Each room was perfect and the beds were very comfortable. We ate breakfast every morning and the food was excellent every single day. The staff at the Albany Hotel was gracious and helpful at all times. And the location in St. Andrews couldn't be better. We will be returning to St. Andrews this summer and we plan to stay at the Albany Hotel!

Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff. We stayed in the junior suite. Spacious but cosy, spotlessly clean. Will definitely be back. Great location. Just round corner from all bars restaurants. Very close to everything you would want to see and do.

Having been on the road with two teens, the Garden Room was perfect to allow us a little space in a shared room. The room was very well appointed to meet our needs. The staff were attentive and friendly. The location was fabulous!
