Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at this small B&B for four days to play golf at the St Andrews Links, and have nothing but postive things to say. Location is perfect (both for access to golf courses and to the city center), very nice rooms, great breakfasts and small lounge to just rewind after your day, which also fostered contact with other visitors. And to add to this, a very lovely hostess (Donna)!

The house is beautiful and in a perfect location. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. Donna is an incredible host! Here breakfasts were so good and she was willing to work with our schedule each day. On our earliest day, she had a to go breakfast and snack bag ready for us.

Very small bed room and a bit old style living room. Breakfast choice was not the best, and only from 08:15 to 09:00. A preorder breakfast system would be nice, so we don’t have to wait for breakfast for 20 min+. They have it in other guest houses, so it is possible. Bedroom was not big enough for both of us to unpack. We asked owner if we could cancel but she refused. We were late on that though to be fair to her. All in all not a place for 2 golfers to stay in that small room.

Response from Donna Renton, Owner at Cameron Guest House
Responded 20 Jun 2023
Hi thank you for your feedback and giving me a chance to address them. I'm sorry that you felt your room was very small its not something thats been commented on before. There is a golf storage area in our reception area for clubs so they are not kept in the bedroom. Guest Houses are not purpose built hotels and each one is very unique which is what appeals to the majority of our guests. Decor is very much down to individual tastes and we honour the many original features that still remain while keeping it fresh and updated. We are very flexible should our guests request early breakfast and with regards to pre ordering breakfast this is something that is a personal choice. For breakfast we offer 5 different cereals, cheese, yoghurt, muffins/pastries, mixed fruit berries, mixed nuts/seeds, fruit, fruit juice and also cooked items- full scottish, brioche french toast, scrambled eggs on toast and omelettes. white/wholemeal toast, tea/coffee. With regards to your request to cancel your room- you asked the day before your arrival. Our cancellation policy clearly shows what our terms are. Hope this clears up any outstanding concerns you have and once again thank you for your feedback.

We had an excellent 3 night stay in a wonderfully cosy, clean and comfortable room. The bed was super comfy and the room decorated nicely with some personal touches. Donna was very welcoming and breakfast was delicious and faultless. We felt it was cooked fresh and for a small place the choice of food was great. The room and bathroom were very clean and well maintained. Ideally located too and the use of a lounge was a plus. We will be booking again without a doubt!

We arrived cold and wet after an 11 hour journey. The gentleman took our bags to our room and pointed out the extra radiator he had put in the room for us to be sure we were warm enough. The twin bedded room and the bathroom were spotless. On the tea tray was a pot of Tunnocks tea cakes and we also had a little bowl of fudge. The lounge area was spacious and comfortable with sofas and armchairs and a massive tv although we were quite content to watch tv in our room. Breakfast was delicious with a vast array of cereals, fruit and pastries and a choice of cooked meals as well. We ate so well on our last morning we didn't eat again all day! We had everything we needed to hand but a quick glance through the information file showed that they had thought of everything a guest might need and it was clear that nothing would be too much trouble. We slept so well both nights we wished we could take the beds home with us!

We stayed here for two nights. It was terrific. The rooms are very nice, comfortable beds, television, and plenty of hot water and water pressure in the en-suite bath. The breakfasts were excellent. There are not many rooms, so it is not crowded at all. Donna and her mum, Elizabeth were very nice. Both have a great sense of humor and make you feel very much like a guest in their home. The house is only a five minute walk to the Old Course and not more than about 20 minutes to any of the non golf sites in St. Andrews. We slept well. Since the house is so close to the sea, if you leave your window open, the birds can be quite loud. With the window closed there is no noise at all. With so many choices in St. Andrews we are glad we picked Cameron House. We will stay there next year when we go back to play golf.
