Sleek, very busy hotel next to the central train station and right in town center. Huge lobby that can get loud but my room was very quiet – no noise from other guests and windows are well insulated so street noise was minimal.

The basic (One) rooms are small/tiny home style, with good lighting but unsecured wifi, no functional work area (there was no mobile desk with USB ports, only a luggage stand), and just a tiny (Kindle sized) fixed ledge for a night stand. It’s so small that you cannot plug anything in and have coffee on the ledge. Bed was very comfy and shower was great.

Reasonably priced with awesome staff, this was perfect for me on this solo leg with little time spent in the room, but couples, those in larger bodies, or those working from the room may feel claustrophobic in the basic room. TV was wonky with no apps working and constant connection issues but not worth bothering over for my short stay. I would book again in similar circumstances.

**Definitely worth checking in online to avoid the long line in a crowded lobby at peak times!

Our first stay at a Motel One and it probably won’t be our last. Very impressed with the stylish lobby, the well-thought-out and very clean rooms, and the front desk service. All of which is way above what you would expect for the price (we paid about £120 a night for three nights in mid-September) and puts some of the drab-looking ‘budget’ chains to shame. Location is great too; not the smartest area of Glasgow but perfectly fine, and right next to Central Station, which (as you might expect from the name) is in the centre of the city and made a few days' getaway from London super easy. A 20-odd minute easy walk or a few minutes' cab ride to Finneston, where most of the really good restaurants are, and we even walked out to the Pollokshaws Road in about 30 minutes, which has some nice independent shops and is obviously on the way up.

Some ticks from me: somewhere to actually put your washbag in the bathroom; lots of space to put clothes and suitcase away; and extra hooks by the door for your coat and daily bags/shopping. As well as the stuff that you should expect from any hotel but which is often lacking, like good pillows, a very comfortable mattress, temperature control in the room that you can actually understand, and a decent shower with a sensible water-retention system. Some fun style touches too, like cool Scottish photography in the rooms and lobby, so much nicer than the generic ‘blah’ art you get in so many hotel rooms. Motel One, if your business plan is keep prices affordable but create an environment that doesn't say 'cheap', then it's working a treat.

Of course, service is what really makes a hotel somewhere you want to return to, and it was uniformly very good. A special shout-out for Rachel, who checked us in with a genuine smile and then remembered us when we went back with questions (which were efficiently dealt with), in a very busy environment. Thank you Rachel, you made our trip so much nicer! If only more hotels could be like this, and offer actual value for money, how much more pleasant travel would be.

Coming from the US I was hesitant to consider this property based on the word 'motel'. At home, motel most often means a low budget property with few amenities. I'm glad checked out the website and booked our room. What a deal at 89£ for one night. Loved the vibe the moment we entered the doors, modern decor inviting atmosphere throughout the reception lounge area, bar and workspace areas. We were warmly greeted immediately at check-in. We were told that we were upgraded to a larger room in a quiet corner on the top floor, after asking if we had a room preference. Once exiting the elevator, the hallway was very warm as if the heat was turned on too high.
Our room #12.47 was very small. We questioned whether the upgrade was the larger room, we couldn't imagine there being a smaller room. Minimalist boutique style clean room with comfy bed/pillows and great rooftop views over Glasgow.
The bathroom door was very narrow and was fine for small me, but not made for larger persons. Though the bathroom was small, there was plenty of space to set up toiletries on the ledge behind the toilet as well as each side of the bowl sink. Bonuses were the magnifying mirror, rainfall shower with great pressure and a salon quality hair dryer.
There were only USB ports on one side of the bed, which made charging our phones and portable chargers a bit challenging.
We could hear a faint rumble of trains while in our room, but no other outside noises at all which was wonderful.
This hotel is in an ideal location in the busier section of City Center and perfect for those arriving at Central Station via train as you can walk to the hotel easily from there.
In my opinion I feel this property is an excellent choice for the solo traveler who is looking for an affordable lodging choice. The rooms are best suited for single travelers. I don't think it's ideal for those traveling with children, though they show having cots. In our room there was hardly any room to open up our two suitcases; cots being set up would be crammed in tight. As a couple a night or two would be fine, but I'd look elsewhere for a longer stay.
Motel One is owned by a German company so a number of the television shows and advertisements were in German as expected. We found them interesting to watch.
The front desk also booked us a cab to the airport the following morning, once again friendly service.
If returning to Glasgow in the future or staying elsewhere where these properties are found I would definitely consider Motel One for my lodging choice.

Excellent location for sight seeing & only ~3 or 4 blocks from the airport bus stop.
There is a coop grocery across the st(down the side st) & a Lidl grocery ~2 blocks behind the hotel. Plenty of food options around.
The beautiful hotel pics on TA are Exactly what we experienced. Just some fyi:
1) the coffee supplies in the room do Not have “artificial sweetener”(only sugar).
2) the bathroom supplies are only liquid soap at the sink & in the shower.
3) the air con worked wonderfully in July (the windows only open a few inches up Top)

Good bits: The room was a Good size, modern and clean with a comfortable chair to sit in. Kettle, safe and full powered hair dryer were nice to have. Bed and pillows were comfortable. USB sockets by the bed also a big plus. Staff always friendly. Lounge space downstairs was nice to relax in and work from in the evening with a glass of wine. Great location if travelling by train with easy access to the metro for getting around the city.

Bad bits: Sock over the smoke alarm on the ceiling was unpleasant to remove and unsafe had I not noticed. TV had very limited channels and the WiFi was not good enough to manage video calls from the room although it did support streaming video. Very loud music from what I am told was a near by venue on the Thursday night. Staff were apologetic when I enquired at reception as to the end time and offered a move of rooms. I would not return at a weekend for this reason as I understand the music continues until 3am! Only paper cups supplied in the room but I was provided with a mug from the bar when asked.

I had breakfast on the first morning (free with motel one membership) but it was limited and not value for money, I chose to have breakfast else where on the remaining days.

Found red wine stains on the bedding when we got to the room at 1 am and were too exhausted to move or complain at the time. In the morning, my wife found specks of blood on one of the pillows.

I complained at reception. On request, I emailed photos to reception who advised me she had forwarded these on to management at the time.

Two weeks later, I'd heard nothing back. I emailed again. Only then did I receive an acknowledgement. I was told my email got stuck in her inbox.

Children get stuck in trees. Hands get stuck in cookie jars. Emails don't get stuck in inboxes, especially when they have already been sent.

I received no compensation.

City center hotel. Stylish, modern decor, busy. Clientele varied from tour bus crowd to tech worker.
Good wifi. Large reception area, bar, busy front desk with competent and helpful attendants.
Basic small rooms. Comfortable bed, air conditioning . Quiet, good soundproofing. Miniature bedside tables. Some usb outlets. And many electric outlets.
Blackout drapes.
Good water pressure and hot water. Basic toiletries
Basic towels.
Instant coffee sleeves and tea, kettle.
Breakfast buffet very crowded. Insufficient seating but they do inform you of busy times when you arrive. Breakfast has high quality items.

Parking is not available at hotel. If you drive you cannot drop your passenger and bags at the entrance because the hotel location is restricted to bus and taxi only. It is great location if you arrive by train. The station is on same street.
A nearby NCP commercial parking garage is expensive but you can get your ticket stamped at hotel desk for good discount. Be aware the garage is filthy and the elevators are not functional.

Great location, friendly staff, lovely hotel.

We stayed over New year, myself, partner and 2 year old.

Location of the hotel was fantastic, so convenient and parking available 2 mins away for £9 a day.

The cleanliness of the hotel we thought let it down, everything just didn’t seem up to scratch, it appeared you had 1 person cleaning each floor so was rushed. We had a couple issues worse been a fake eyelash on back of the TV remote.

Room- we stayed in a standard King but was fine, bi enough for the 3 of us but I would stay elsewhere with a family but this is a cracking couples hotel.

We had the breakfast each morning which is continental, great choices but sometimes it took an age for the staff to replenish.

Staff were so friendly and helpful, Calum on reception and Steven on the bar were awesome, very helpful and considerate to our 2 year old.

The view we had from the room was awesome looking over central station and up Hope street. Loved it.

Beautifully silent room on floor 8. Modern and sharp construction. The streets are completely left behind on entry. Breakfast was somewhat automated but everything worked and the breakfast room, which includes the reception desk, is pleasant and cosy. I did not find any other public lounge space but at £80 per night for such quiet and precisely arranged accommodation in the city centre I did not expect it. Excellent value.

The most important things to me for a city break hotel are the location, the cleanliness of the room and other spaces, how comfortable the bed is, including the pillows, and also can you get a drink/nightcap back at the hotel - well Motel One Glasgow covered every one of these, including great value for money. Liked the vibe in the reception/lounge/bar area, people of all ages enjoying themselves. Would definitely stay here again if visiting Glasgow and am now looking at booking one of the Motel One hotels for our next break to Edinburgh now I have discovered this friendly, modern reasonably priced hotel chain.
