Not the worst hotel we have ever stayed in but certainly could do better!

Our family room was spacious with the two double beds plus a sofa but there were so many tweaks that could have made it much nicer. More table space for one thing. A tiny dresser where most of the space is already taken up by the tea/coffee things and lamp and a small bedside table with another lamp on was all the surface space in the room. A couple of side tables beside the sofa would have been a massive help especially when trying to put a hot cuppa down somewhere safe. The room was fairly clean and tidy but a lick of paint does not an old fashioned room update... Oh, and really needed new windows! The crappy, single pane, tiny windows that let in hardly any light either did not open or didn't close fully - this was great fun at midnight when loud music was playing from an event in the hotel. Double glazing would have reduced the sound a little at least - as it was it felt like we were in the room with the DJ!

There was no welcome pack which is kind of the bare minimum I expect from a hotel. Just some crappy notices on the door. No where in the room or at reception was there any notice regarding the Wifi password which is pretty shoddy when you are advertising free Wifi included. We had to go find someone to ask - which considering how understaffed the hotel seemed this was rather unfair on the busy staff. It appeared that one person was left to serve breakfast, main reception and set up the bar in the mornings. Very unfair considering the size of the hotel.

Breakfast was as basic as they could manage. The fruit was old, bruised and unappetising. There was a choice of yogurt and one type of pastry, OJ or milk plus 4 basic cereals. And one more lady having to do the teas/coffees and toast for everyone along with busing the tables and doing front desk.

Overall, I would say that this hotel clearly isn't making enough money or the owners are tightfisted because it seriously needs a good overhaul. It is a beautiful building and was probably a good hotel once but if you don't spend a little money on it then you'll keep getting people like us who will never stay there again and eventually go bust like a hotel just down the road did only last week. And when you charge £3.90 for two cans of coke then you'd think you could afford to do some work on the hotel...

My trip advise, don't expect much and you won't be too disappointed.

My Wife, daughter, puppy and I needed somewhere to stay for a few days when moving house .

At very short notice, the Crookston Hotel were able to offer us a family room which although a bit dated but was spotlessly clean and huge with a large en suite bathroom.

The price included a continental breakfast and the puppy was allowed in the bar in the evenings and again in the bar for breakfast.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful and made us feel right at home.

Other than breakfast, we never ate in the hotel but the atmosphere in the bar in the evenings was very homely.

It is very well situated for both Braehead and Silverburn shopping centres and for buses to Paisley and Glasgow

It may not be the most modern hotel we have stayed in but was excellent value for money.

We attended this venue the other month for a friends funeral meal. Staff were attentive and the function hall was pleasant. Food was basic but warm and tasty. Also later on we moved in to the bar area and again staff were attentive and the bar food was warm and tasty. Overall decent venue with decent prices.

Recently stayed here on an overnight business trip. Was horrendous. The bed was dirty, room was cold, old food stuck in curtains. No water pressure, barely any hot water and the bedroom was absolutely freezing and this was during Winter. I’ve never been so appalled. I slept head to toe to avoid the mushed food in the curtain next to my bed. Arrived after hours of travelling and didn’t have it in me to have to find somewhere else to stay. There was no WiFi in my room which was truly annoying since I actually phoned before booking and asked if there was due to this being a business trip and they responded yes.

The service and food was good but those bedrooms are awful. Nothing worse.

According to the website its refurbished rooms and pictures looked amazing for the cost, in reality the room I stayed in was in no way refurbished!! Due to my grandson being in Ross Hall for an operation, and this guest house being 10 mins away it suited my needs. As a sole guest I asked to reserve a table for dinner, and a small blackboard with my name and resident was written on and placed on a table. I arrived for dinner at 6.15, 15 mins early and explained to the barman that I was early bit could I have a drink, he gave me my drink and walked away, so I went to my table and waited tobe attended to, 15 mins later I went to the bar and asked the lady for a menu, which I was given and sat back at my table. For the next 25 mins I sat and waited to order, 2 tables either side of me were attended to and I felt Iike I was invisable to the 2 members of staff who made no eye contact whatsoever....at 7pm I left. I walked to the end of the road, got a pizza, took it back to my room and ate in there. The corrider can be quite noisy and as my room was above the main door there is a lot of noise for people entering and leaving . The gentleman in the next room was obviously having a very nice evening with a partner and then promptly fell asleep with some really loud snoring, so you can hear a lot of noise. Breakfast was as big a disaster as dinner, I arrived at 8.15 and as there was no one there got a plate of cereal and an orange juice, a lady came over and asked if I would like coffee, tea or toast, so I asked for coffee and toast, about 5 mins later a gentleman came into the lounge and sat down, the lady came out and gave him toast and coffee, which I assume was mine, because my coffee and toast never appeared, again after about 20 mins I left, there is no attention from what staff there is to their guests. I packed my things left the key on the empty reception desk and left, I did pass the cleaner who made no acknowledgement whatsoever. I know its a budget guest house and it met my needs but come on it needs a lesson on how to treat paying guests. Im sorry I cannot recomnend this place at all

I stayed at the Crookston for about two weeks while I was hunting for a flat. It was very pleasant and comfortable, had no issues at all. The single room was pretty simple, no frills, but it was clean and functional, which is all I was really looking for. The staff are very polite and accomodating, and housekeeping ensured that my room was regularly tidied and supplied with fresh towels and linen. All in all, I had an enjoyable time and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a warm, homely stay. Thanks for your hospitality!

On arrival at 4/30pm the bar was full, informed that they were no longer cooking evening meals! We’d been travelling since 7am and were looking forward to a evening meal!
Chef agreed to cook for us which was a fab meal, this is the only good thing.
The lady who greeted us initially was not expecting us, she was not organised and asked for payment of £75, I had paid in full in March which was £99 to which I complained about the price. The room was disgusting, no hot water and filthy! Various different rooms were given which were just as bad!
In the morning we were told our evening meal was free and so we asked for a refund in the price of the room this was agreed but could not be done without a key holder and no one on duty till Tuesday this was Saturday, so had to wait! Advised that she would ring me however I had to ring, the person was not impressed or aware of the situation but did give the refund!
Would not recommend at all!

I had to travel to Glasgow this week and was aware of the covid restrictions that the area is currently under, however I was delighted and very impressed in the manner in which the staff of the Crookston hotel on the south- side of the city conducted themseives.
The hotel itself is cleaned to the highest of standards and the serving staff and management, while maintaining a very friendly attitude to guests, ensured their safety and well being by applying all covid recommendations asked for by the governing body.
Thank you to all the staff, including the night porter, who were always available if needed.

Room was very grubby there was no way it was cleaned. Stains on shower curtain dust piled up. No hot water so complained and were given two other rooms, same problem no hot water and a hand basin that leaked. Complained again and were told to use a shower in a different room and what a trek that was. Down a flight of stairs then up another then behind a hidden panel were two tiny single rooms very dirty and stained, broken tiles, lights not working and the shower had no pressure at all. The staff admitted this was a common problem so keep well away from this place.
As for covid 19 the bar was packed and people were moving about and mixing. The only good thing was the food but they stopped serving at five. Got a small refund but it took 5 days of phoning up as no one apart from the owner could process it. Stay away.

Booked my Father's Funeral Reception here and was wary about booking accommodation going on reviews on here. Well the reviews are totally wrong. Two rooms were booked and I cannot lie when I say we were all pleasantly surprised by the high standard of both rooms. Hospitality trays were very well stocked. Beds increadebly comfortable. Room well appointed with large flat screen television. Bathroom like the bedroom, spotlessly clean. Lots of toiletries in the very large bathroom.. Unfortunately due to three other funeral receptions being held there we were unable to have lunch but went to a local Italian which was lovely. Continental Breakfast was ideal with plenty of choice. Staff in all departments were excellent. Funeral Reception perfect. From check in to leaving everything was just great. Thank you Crookston Hotel for everything.. Would not hesitate to stay here again and definitely recommend.
