Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was my second time to stay here and it was just as enjoyable as the first. The hostel has a warm, friendly and relaxed environment to be in. It is also very safe and more often than not the vast majority of people who stay here are nice and friendly. It has a really good vibe in that sense.

For a hostel, it is kept remarkably clean and tidy with staff cleaning the premises on a daily basis. The shower in my room was hot and had great pressure, the bed was also very comfortable. The kitchen is very functional and is well equipped with everything that you need for cooking. There's plenty of storage available between the fridges and the cupboard spaces, again this area is cleaned daily.

In terms of location, it is located in a very nice part of Glasgow with excellent public transport links into the city via train and bus. It is also a short 20 minute walk to the trendy West End of the city (plenty of good bars, cafes and restaurants). There is a great supermarket close by that caters to all tastes and all types of budget, it opens from early till around 10pm. There are some local shops also serving fast food etc.

What makes the stay so great is the manager, Mauro. He is very friendly and welcoming to everyone along with being very helpful and informative. A really nice gentleman who will ensure that you have an enjoyable stay. I'm already looking forward to my return in a few months, grazie mille Mauro!

Great connection to the center (10min by train), 3 minutes to Morrisons Market, 5 minutes to a 24-hour gas station. generally very good location (don't worry about the distance from the center, even walking from the center you can pass very interesting places. most importantly! the service of this hotel is the right people in the right place, really the highest level of service, very helpful and polite gentlemen!

Rooms very cozy, well-stocked kitchen

I highly recommend this place to everyone and tourists or families with children

I would stay longer but unfortunately I have to go on, greet all crew and guests.

SEE YOU SOON

Great hostel with healthy atmosphere and extremely helpful and friendly staff. We had an amazing stay and I saw different people at the reception and every single one of them was smiling and super helpful. Thanks Marlo 😬.. There is free wi-fi included that worked very well, the location is great, just five minutes walk from Anniesland station so it is well connected to the rest of the city area. There are plenty of restaurants and a few grocery shops nearby so you can buy everything you need at walking distance. All in all I had a great experience and thanks for the stay! Highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.

I've been in countless hostels around Europe and this is by far one of the best I've ever stayed in. The atmosphere is so wonderful, lovely and I always felt safe as a woman - the owner is so so so kind and friendly and the beds are so comfortable. I can't recommend this enough.

First hostel I stayed in Glasgow and Mauro straightaway made me feel welcome with a warm hello! I was thinking of bringing my electric blanket with me, as I always do when visiting cold (and rainy 😉) cities, but didn’t to make space - no need! My bed was nice and warm, with duvet blankets provided. I got lucky my room mates were always out and about so I had a nice ensuite room all for myself! Our bathroom was freshly cleaned when I arrived, room smelled nice, and we’ve got lockers. Also, there is a well fitted kitchen downstairs - great if you want to cook for yourself, and a very snug common room to chill out. It’s in a quiet area but still, the city centre is easily within reach just take the 6 bus. Overall, perfect for longer stays/visits to Glasgow. Feel at home. I really love it.

I had an amazing stay at Alba Hostel. Even though I was unwell on arrival Mauro made sure I was ok, checking on me and made me feel extremely comfortable. He was there for anything I needed. The hostel itself has everything you need as well :)

Well accommodate hostel, comfortable beds, clean new bedclothes, the bathrooms are sparkling clean.
Mr. Mauro the manager of the place is a really friendly person, making pro-communism jokes, if not with anyone else at least with me.
Alba isn't in the city center, but easy to reach by bus or train, or foot if you prefer, the University of Glasgow is easily to arrive on foot.
I staid a couple of weeks and I recommend, good value for money.

No heating in January and February, not even hot water. Staff is simply intimidating. Commuting to the city centre takes for ages. No wonder the hostel is empty, only a horde of Rumanian street worker who stay there, because the stay is part of their wages.

This review appears to be written with subjective assumptions, defamatory, untrue and possibly defamatory remarks. In January there were a small group of guests, hard-working and highly qualified contractors, paying guests of Romanian background. They were for 14 days; they were extremely kind, polite and due to their work they were in Alba Hostel only for few hours in the evening and night time. They were not a ''horde'' as the reviewer attempts to describe them. How can 9 people becoming a ''horde'' is very difficult to understand according to the English Dictionary. Their stay was not part of their wages as the reviewer attempts to assume; they came to Alba Hostel because of the remarkable hospitality, services and environment existing in our Hostel. The reviewer also affirms that there is no hot water, heating in January and February. It is not clear when the reviewer was in Alba Hostel(date of stay: February) but in this case the workers(Romanian) were NOT in the Hostel. It is strange but going through all the 2020 reviews , the reviewer is the only one to affirm that there was not hot water in January and February(February is not finished yet). The Hostel was empty: how can a place be empty if the reviewer affirms that there was a '' horde''? When we are writing reviews we should remember to write about facts, write according to the English language and NOT writing assumptions and other defamatory remarks. Finally, but not less importantly: the reviewer affirms that '' staff is simply intimidating''. The latter is another subjective, offensive assumptions to our highly hospitable staff. WE reject the content of this review as simple assumptions and most certainly totally far from the empirical reality

I really liked this hostel. My first time in one and I loved it. At the hostel you have a games room and a round table for conversation and table games. Very good. If I could I would live here. I am spending my holidays in Scotland and visiting various places and here is definitely a place for those who do not speak English very well because most of the guests are friendly and understand. And the hostel owner helps you if you want to go somewhere and have questions about. I already have a friend who will come next year and he said he will come to this hostel.

I gave them a good review as like you I found the hostel staff warm and friendly and would certainly go back . However since my review in August there have been some other reviews not so good from other visitors so I can't understand what the problem was with my review as I gave it a good star rating in all areas
