Based right in the heart of Glasgow, adjacent to Queen Street Station and Buchanan Street and with the airport bus service stopping right at our door, we are the perfect city centre base. We are four star rated, and each of our 64 bedrooms feature a complimentary Minibar and decanted spirits, multi channel LCD TV with Sky Sports 1, 2 and 3, desk, and bathroom with bath and power shower to ensure you have a comfortable and relaxing stay while you are with us. WiFi is free for the duration of your stay, and so are local phone calls. National calls are just 3p per minute. Located on the 7th floor of the hotel, Windows is Glasgow's only rooftop restaurant. Windows Restaurant serves delicious dishes created with local produce with menus changing to reflect what's in season. In fact, the food is only matched by the view over the rooftops of Glasgow! Breakfast is served in Windows in the morning, or can be delivered to your room. Guests can enjoy complimentary soft drinks, snacks and coffee throughout the day, and complimentary wine, beer and selected spirits each evening in the Executive Lounge located on the 7th floor. The lounge also features the Thomson Boardroom, ideal for meetings or private dining for up to 12 people. At the Carlton George Hotel we've worked hard to create a comfortable and informal setting where you can make yourself at home and relax, but still experience fantastic service.

A lovely hotel, rooms are very spacious and comfortable with your own mini bar which has a great selection of alcohol and soft drinks, which is all part of the room price. A small suggestion for the mini bar would be two crisps not just one as the double rooms generally will have two people staying. The lounge is also apart of deal we’re you book your time and can sit back relax with complimentary drinks which was a great section of wine spirits and beer. However we booked 8pm and there was lack of stuff left, we had to phone and ask for more beers. The snacks were also lacking too so would definitely want it to be refilled and checked regularly instead of feeling because it was near the closing of lounge no one was bothering. Other than these small things that ya a fabulous hotel in the centre of Glasgow.

Cant rate this hotel highly enough. Central Glasgow right next to train station. We stayed in a club room with balcony and for once the weather was kind to us so just sat outside til midnight watching the world go by. Lovely executive lounge for relaxing in with snacks and drinks. Comfortable bed made for a great night's sleep. Looking forward to returning in October. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Glasgow. Amazing friendly staff always make you welcome

We booked a table for dinner (2 covers) on Saturday night with the booking confirmed for 8:30 until 10:30. We called the restaurant at 8:10 and spoke to Stephen (Duty Manager) to let him know we would be approximately 10 minutes late due to heavy traffic in the city. We arrived at 8:45 and upon entering the restaurant the waitress told us that the kitchen closed at 8:30(?) and we would have to speak to the Manager (Stephen) When we arrived back downstairs to speak to the manager he was unavailable and we had the pleasure of dealing with another “Duty Manager” whose name was never given. He proceeded to tell us we were late (despite calling ahead and informing them) and that the kitchen closed at 8:30 regardless of whether we were late or not?! When pressed on how the kitchen could possibly close at 8:30 despite having a table booked from 8:30 until 10:30 he said “well you were late!) We then had the pleasure of the other Duty Manager, Stephen. A true Customer Service Champion if ever there was… despite presenting my email confirmation of the booking (which also contains a clause allowing the restaurant to reallocate your table if you are more than 20 minutes late and do not call ahead!!) and repeating the conversation just had with his colleague, Stephen said ….. absolutely nothing. Not a single word did he utter in relation to the matter in hand . He did manage a supremely smug exterior for the duration of our interaction although I’m sure this isn’t in the Customer Service manual. The only response we received was in relation to who his General Manager was and contact details for them. So that is a summary of our Carlton George experience. Interestingly enough this hotel is described as being of “international 4 star quality level “ It’s not! It’s also described as delivering “service with a sincere smile from a team that takes pleasure in serving its guests” It doesn’t! I would be really interested to know if Peter Salussia feels that this particular episode embodies his concept of hospitality? Our rating is based purely on interactions with the staff but this is enough to guarantee we won’t be returning anytime soon.

We stayed for an overnight and there are a few good points about the hotel Good location super close to central station. Nice restaurant with breakfast which was fresh and had lots of choices Rooms were clean - if a little dated tho The use of the executive lounge was good however - it’s not fully stocked so choices were limited and no staff present so when a order guest started an argument with a different guest no staff were about to deal with it - poor show from the hotel especially when it’s a 4 star hotel - staff should be present and should be keeping the bar and snacks stocked We were on the 1st floor and due to the back of the hotel facing the bars it was a bit noisy but they aside it was nice

From the minute we checked in, until checking out, our experience at this hotel was 1st class. On arrival we were pleased to be informed that we had been upgraded to a balcony room, a lovely gesture which was appreciated. The complimentary mini bar which had a large selection of drinks both alcoholic and soft with snacks was a great addition to a fantastic, large, comfortable room. All 3 courses of our meals enjoyed in the Windows Restaurant were very tasty and fresh as was the extensive breakfast selection in the morning. The staff also are a credit to the hotel and all team members that we came into contact with friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. All in, an excellent stay and we will be returning again.

According to staff on reception we have visited the hotel on 16 occasions. Reason being we would struggle to find a better fit for our requirements. Travelling by car we park in Buchanan galleries where we receive 50% discount with our hotel booking. 5 minute walk and we are at the hotel, where we are always greeted by a smiley face. We always book a room with lounge access, this offers exceptional value for money with a selection of complementary drinks and snacks and a handy bell call for any other requirements. Rooms are cosey and clean with free mini bar. Out front door you have bus stop to airport. 2 minutes towards George square you have queen st station. Turn the corner to Buchanan st you have the underground. Seconds to George square. Got to be the best positioned hotel for the city centre of Glasgow. Staff are always amazing, friendly and helpful. Cannot fault this hotel, that's why we wouldn't go any where else whilst in Glasgow.

First time visitor but don’t think we would return after our visit.Hotel entrance looks impressive but on entering room 503 I was quite disappointed as room quite dark and don’t like the wooden dated furniture but the plus point was a well stocked mini bar but disappointed in the whiskey gin vodka decanters as I wasn’t expecting them to be full but there was about an inch in the bottom of all 3 bottles. We had lounge access and that was nice with a good selection of drink/snacks then we headed for dinner, ordered onion soup from menu but got sent tomato and basil instead..seems strange to bring you soup you never ordered.couple next to us complained food was a let down since there last visit and going by our meal I’m not surprised.Who decided hot black pudding would go sitting on cold pate I’ll never know.Had good nights sleep so headed for breakfast and ordered eggs Benedict which arrived first egg was so undercooked the whites were runny that I couldn’t eat it but other was fine.Scrambled egg strange looking but everything else ok.Good central location though but if I did return it would be a room only basis and eat out.

We didn't make it to the bar, which I understand is the hotel's highlight. The room was a bit cramped but the bathroom was a good size. It was clean and tidy but there were things that needed refilling that had obviously been ignored. The base of the bed was comfortable but there was a weird gap between that and the headboard, which was fixed to the wall, that meant you couldn't really sit up in bed. The pillows were awful. We loved the complementary mini-bar, which included decanters of spirits and lovely tumblers in which to drink them (not that either of us drink spirits other than in cocktails!). The hotel is in a good location for the city centre and since we were facing away from the street, it was quiet for us. All in all, so-so. I wouldn't choose to stay here again but at the same time, I'd be happy to if that was the only option. It's a good choice if you're not planning on spending much time in your room which we weren't.
