Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed a couple of nights. Warm welcome, spotlessly clean, well equipped rooms, fine breakfast selection, hot drinks, cakes & ice cream freely available in comfortable lounge. Attractive Scandinavian-style design & ambience. Excellent central location above central railway station. Would definitely use again.

We stayed for one night and I wished we stayed for more. The room was clean. Spacious. Well appointed. It had sparkling water. A sky box. Complementary smarties. Reception had cupcakes and ice cream. The people were lovely. Breakfast was just right. We felt wanted and our custom appreciated without it being too much. We will definitely be choosing Grasshoppers again!

Room Tip: Not so easy to find from the street but just before the Mackintosh hotel.

This hotel has spacious, comfortable rooms, great food, and friendly staff. The central location is surrounded by streets with shops, restaurants, sites, and transit hubs. PS We had our favourite food and drink in Scotland at a pub recommended by the hotel -- Rab Ha's.

First night in Scotland and we had a wonderful sleep in downtown Glasgow. The room is super clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast is delicious with lots of choice. The cupcakes, cakes and ice cream are a real treat. And the staff are amazing, friendly and helpful. My roller wheel on my suitcase came apart. The staff kindly lent me some gorilla tape and scissors for a temporary repair. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

The staff were lovely and accommodating, the room was on the larger side for a small hotel, nice touches like iron and hair dryers. Free cake! Lovely sitting room with tea and coffee. A perfect central location for walking around the city. Note: it is next to the Central train station. We are from a city so it felt pretty normal to us but I can understand where people from more rural or suburban areas might find the area a little sketchy. It didn’t seem unsafe to us and the hotel is very secure.

The hotel is right next to the Central Station and it's in a very seedy neighborhood. Not safe for single women. It is very unpleasant. We booked through Booking.com and thought we reserved a large double but upon arrival we were told that it was a standard room with no breakfast even though the hotel website says all bookings include breakfast. I complained to Booking.com but both the hotel and Booking.com were unresponsive. Our daily rate was 30 pounds more than what we could have gotten directly from their website. The room is basic, they did not even provide us with a bath mat. The receptionist gave us an extra towel to use as a bath mat as the hotel does not provide one. The toilet cover was not properly cleaned. It is a budget hotel advertising itself as more upscale which is misleading. Stay away.

A hotel with free cake? And delicious home-made cake at that? Plus friendly obliging staff – what's not to like? I feel compelled to defend Grasshoppers against some of the negative reviews further down, especially about the breakfast which was plentiful and wide-ranging: juice, coffee, tea, four types of cereal, good yoghurt, good bread, eggs, bacon, etc etc. It was warm indeed but there are ceiling fans, modern ones, such as send gentle breezes in Andalucia, as well as plug-in fans and openable windows. Everything was clean and in good modern taste. Quiet at night. Perhaps not the best choice for a family with several children, better for couples or singles. As for the comment about "not in a hotel street", well, it's beside the railway station and every city in the world has hotels sprinkled around the railway station. And if you want better, these days you have to pay more.

A hidden gem next to Glasgow Central station. Go in the unassuming door and up the lift to find a fantastic hotel on the top floor, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Luxurious rooms that are calm and relaxing. Very friendly staff with homemade cake available round the clock. A small dining room disguises a wonderful breakfast that makes you feel welcomed. Definitely would stay again if visiting Glasgow.

An excellent stay. The staff was patient and thorough; the location is just right, overlooking Central Station and a short walk/cab ride (if encumbered) to Queen St. station. The room was quiet and immaculately kept. The hotel feels intimate; homey and charming but not fussy or obtrusive. I hope to stay there again.
