We stayed for two nights recently and were very comfortable in the ground floor twin double bedded room which was warm, clean, quiet and good value. Ownership has changed in the last month and we would have preferred a little more communication - breakfast and check-in are at the nearby Argyll Hotel and there are now no cooking facilities. There is some upgrading work being undertaken, and if this brings the hotel to a similar standard as the Argyll, it will be an enhancement. Well located for West End activities, places to eat and a regular bus service into the city - 6/6A.

Me and my partner were very impressed with the hotel. We had a friendly welcome, the staff were very pleasent and helpful. The room was very clean, tidy and a reasonable size. Breakfast was very good and plenty of it. It is located in a nice part of Glasgow and only half hour walk to the city centre. We really enjoyed our stay and have no complaints about the hotel itself. It was great value for money. Our only critisicm is the car park at the back which needs clearing as it's a very small car park and space is taken up by rubbish dumped out there that needs going to a tip. So, except for the car park, we give the hotel 10 out 10! Many thanks

Had a great stay at the Kelvin Hotel, Glasgow. The chap on reception even ungraded me to a en-suite double room free of charge. Definitely a great place to stay on a budget. Would recommend and book again.

The room was not like on the website , there was holes in the walls Mark's all over the walls , wallpaper hanging off , strong smell of weed from the rooms down the stairs , Hoover left in middle of floor from cleaner all night , wood on stairs blocking fire exit . I understand you get what you pay for but the room wasnt very clean , the bathroom floor was all sticky and dirty , the smell of smoke was continuous obviously no one cared. When we arrived we parked behind in the car park and it was full of wood bin bags and a fridge and other bits and Bob's, we had to walk a couple of mins to the other hotel to check in where the owner took the bank card and typed all the numbers in instead of me putting the pin in the card machine which I thought was strange why would someone take your card details like that ? . We had a wait for the room it was a palava to be honest but when we finally got there we thought we where put in a hostel for homeless people. It wasnt great the place stinked of smoke when we walked in and place was a mess .
Breakfast we had to walk to the nearby hotel , breakfast was good but no social distancing, waitress had no masks either thought was strange considering when you walk in theres 2m signs but everyone was sitting eating next to each other . Room is too outdated 70 styles wallpaper falling off and holes and Mark's everywhere , the makeshift en suite is strange inside shower didnt work properly either

Hello Jimmy, I'm so sorry you had such a poor experience at our hotel. As you can see from the pictures we are doing up the Kelvin Hotel so it will be up to the argyll standard like our other Hotel The Argyll Western soon. We only bought over this hotel at the start of lockdown so these things are taking more time. This is why the price is a lot lower at the Kelvin at the moment. I have addressed with the staff about not wearing gloves and masks when serving food as this is against our COVID policy and it will not happen again so thank you for bringing it to our attention. Warm regards,

Avoid at all cost!!! Where to start? The room was stinking, very stale smell as soon as you open the door. Once inside it was obvious we couldn't have stayed, carpet was filthy, lampshades looked like they had been kicked about the room then put on the lamps, paintwork all chipped and walls dirty. The worst thing was the smell, pretty awful. Thee room we booked had a shared bathroom that I just would not have used. Two other couples that arrived at the same time as us also left so it wasn't just us being fussy. Major improvements are needed.

Stayed here last night due to having a 30th birthday party and my partner and I don’t live in Glasgow.

Room was fine, no bathroom which surprised me as I didn’t notice any mention of this on the booking, I assumed I overlooked this. Very noisy due to other guests coming and going at 3am and setting alarms off.

Didn’t even use the shared bathroom for anything other than the toilet and that was enough. Dirty curtains,
Outdated and worst of all there was a blood stained mattress protector hanging up on an ironing board 🤢 didn’t even eat the breakfast included. £50 for the room and even though that’s relatively cheap, it wasn’t even worth that! Avoid.

My stay at the Kelvin hotel was short but oh so sweet. I was only there for one night but the gentlemen at the front desk was one of the kindest and most accommodating people I have ever interacted with in the hospitality industry.

Check in: My friend and I arrived early and were able to check in right away at no extra cost. This is not the norm in the UK based on my experience - but very much appreciated for a weary traveler.

Breakfast: After a night out, my friend and I did not wake up early enough for breakfast. However, after coming to the lobby to check out we were offered plenty of food, drinks, and snacks anyways. I was ready to settle for a dry box of cereal just to tide myself over, but, the gentlemen from the desk came in and provided milk, hot chocolate, coffee, orange juice, yogurt, and snacks for the rest of our day. It was amazing!

Overall, I believe most of the other reviews don’t do this place justice. Our room was fully renovated not even two weeks ago and HUGE! If I ever find myself in Glasgow again I will 100% stay here.

Good hotel located easily within walking distance to City centre. Clean rooms and spacious. Not suitable for those with walking issues as ther is no lift or wheelchair access to the building. Stairs were very steep. Good stay overall.

Beware of the positives reviews. Absolutely disgusting student style digs. Rooms were filthy. We arrived at same time as a young guy and another couple and all three parties were down at reception advising we weren't staying. Didn't realise it was a shared bathroom until we arrived.. Had a look in the shared bathroom area and was filthy.

Yes, as others have said there are a few ensuite rooms. The one that we stayed in, had a shower rather than a bath.

Possibly by getting a train to Partick staying on the same line from SECC and then getting a bus outside going to Great Western Road or Botanic Gardens alternatively underground to both Kelvinbidge or Hillhead and hotel is equi-distant to our Kelvin a hotel. Taxi is just as convienanant around £5 can I say and quicker say 10 minutes max.
