Nestled near the River Clyde, the Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow City Centre garners praise for its scenic locale and convenient access to attractions, with many guests enjoying the chilled bar atmosphere and outdoor seating. However, the hotel's rooms receive a mix of feedback, from being clean and comfortable to outdated and cramped.
While some travelers commend the friendly service, others point out disorganization, and opinions on value are divided, with additional costs like parking being a common critique. Overall, amenities are deemed satisfactory, though breakfast options and room sizes may vary.

Detailed Reviews
Nice hotel close to city centre and ideal if visiting the Hydro, SECC or Armadillo. Plenty of parking available if travelling by car. Train station taking you into the city centre is only a 5/10 minute walk away and costs less than a fiver for a return.
Check in and out was simple. We were met by Ionela who was very welcoming and efficient. She also ensured we had booked the car into the car park and made sure we had everything we needed.
The room had a very comfortable bed, was a nice temperature and was lovely and quiet. We both had a good nights sleep! The shower room is quite small but had all that we needed, including shower gel, shampoo and conditioner!
The breakfast was absolutely amazing. Plenty of choice, all great quality and very filling. Stephen was so friendly in the dining room and got us cutlery when we asked.
We would definitely recommend The Hilton Garden Inn and would revisit.
Thank you!

Hotel's Favourite
Well what can I say about the Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow. 5 stars just isn't enough, purely thanks to it's staff!
After spending 5 nights a week here away from my family for the past four and a half weeks on business I cannot thank the kind and caring staff enough.
I have truly been made to feel like one of the family, from meeting Geo in reception, to Allan at breakfast and George in the evening on the first few day's their hosting skills have been amazing and an 11/10 experience throughout, after spending 6-7 hours in the car each week every single member of staff have made my stay an enjoyable one, these three have been superb.
Normally you will remember the name of a single person at a hotel if you are lucky, however there are lots of dedicated and hardworking staff whom have made my stay what it is, the GM should be proud of all of his staff, I honestly could not write about every experience with each person so here is a list of everyone (that I can remember) whom I have met and from where:
Geo, Lisa, Irene, Gabriella on the front of house.
Alan, Stuart, Tammy & Ana from breakfast.
George, Vaiga, Suzi, Phillip, Savanah, Saskia and Dean from the bar and restaurant and not forgetting Dennis, from the night shift.
Of course, spending 20+ nights in 5 different rooms in any hotel in short succession will uncover the odd issue here and there with the quality of the rooms etc, but I believe overall the quality of the hotel is above average, but as previously mentioned the staff have done everything in their powers to accommodate every guest that I've witnessed them dealing with, which is incredible considering the nature and diversity of the guests that utilise this hotel, from all corners of the world.
It's not often that I write a review but it's important for me to highlight the extent that these incredible people have gone to, especially when they appear to be pretty understaffed on a regular basis, GM please take note, especially during busy gigs and breakfast with bus tours on.
On a final note I've just learnt that the haggis and mushrooms have been taken off the breakfast menu, I have personally enjoyed the haggis as I'm sure many of the overseas visitors have enjoyed tasting a famous Scottish tradition, it also allows a taster prior to ordering the haggis fritters off of the restaurant menu.
Overall a very enjoyable stay and I will absolutely be returning, for both business and pleasure in the future.

Garden Inn is mid-range in the Hilton range of hotel, so you get the on-site restaurant, fitness centre and business facilities. My modern room faced the river and I was impressed by the in-room desk and office chair, an easy chair plus plenty of clever storage. The en-suite was a tad small but the shower (no bath) gave a really hot shower.
There were plenty of sockets for laptop etc. and everything in the room was clean. Reflecting the mid-price, there were no biscuits in the room and two sachets of coffee.
There a bar on the ground floor, during the summer there's the option of using the riverside terrace. I found breakfast OK, it's an all buffet event affair, but the food wasn't that hot; there's the usual bacon, sausage, eggs, beans, etc. Continental options were limited and the coffee self-service from a machine.
WiFi was speedy throughout the hotel. There's parking along the quayside which is £10/night for guests. The parking is not secure in any way.
Prices vary a great deal by day of week, Sunday being best value.

A hotel which is in a great location on the side of the Clyde, very easy access by road and a car park on site which is very useful. Check in went smoothly and our room was presented to the usual high standard of Hilton, immaculately clean and the bathroom had nice thick fluffy towels.
As we have stayed here previously we knew what to expect from the restaurant and the breakfast service was as we expected, perfect !
Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the dinner service that was offered. The menu contained a very small range of dishes and most were very simple, fast food type of dishes. Starters included soup, garlic bread or nachos, main courses included burgers, both beef and chicken, fish and chips, curry, none of the dishes suggested that a chef needed to have been involved in the preparation, very simple dishes that involved very little skill. Deserts were a choice of four, served as extremely small portions at £8 or £8.50 each, not good value. We dined in the restaurant two nights and the menu was exactly the same on both nights, the same soup, nothing had changed. On our previous visits we had a much better choice of dishes and when we spoke to our server about the menu he said that there had been problems with chefs but didn't elaborate.
A further negative was the standard of the housekeeping. In our bathroom was the usual hotel information about keeping or changing the towels and on our first morning we had only used two of the four towels so we left them all hanging up tidily not wanting them changed. When we later returned after the room had been serviced we found that all of the towels had been replaced with fresh ones however the empty toilet roll had not been replaced and the overflowing waste bin had not been emptied nor had the bin in the bedroom.
On our way to the restaurant in the evening we intended to speak to the reception staff but the desk was always unoccupied and had its lights dimmed so we just gave up with that.
Overall a very comfortable stay but not impressed at all with the dinner menu so although we may well stay again in the future we would hesitate about having dinner.

Just back from our stay. We got a dinner, bed and breakfast deal and I would say it probably one of the most disappointing stays I have had.
We arrived for check in to be advised our room was not ready. We went to the bar and ordered 2 pornstar martinis, whoever made them needs to learn how to make a pornstar, it was so bitter and came in some sort of flute glass with No passion fruit garnish. After a half hour our room was still not ready so we ordered an espresso martini each which although tasted nice, came in a large wine glass, checked again if our room was ready and it still wasn’t. Managed to get into our room at 4pm which was our dinner reservation time, luckily they moved it to 4:30. Rooms are fit for purpose and was ideal for us as we stayed here for a show on at the hydro. Then dinner, we both ordered the same starter and main. Starter came and one plate was placed in the middle of table, the waitress only ordered one starter for us so my mum had finished hers before I had even started mine. The meal was ok, nothing to rave about. We then headed to our show and when we came back, we went to the bar and ordered 2 French martinis, and shocker, they came in large wine glasses. Why is a hotel serving cocktails in wine glasses?
Breakfast was buffet style hot and cold options, the hot breakfast was very poor quality and when my mum went up they ran out of bacon and fried eggs and wasn’t replenished after 15 mins so just had sausage and beans.
I would only ever return for a gig at the hydro but would never eat or order cocktails again.

The Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow City Centre is in a lovely location along the River Clyde, making it a convenient base for exploring the area. As a budget-friendly Hilton brand, it does show its age, with rooms that are a bit dated and can be noisy. The rooms are also very warm, requiring you to open the window for ventilation, but given Scotland’s climate, I’d rather have it warm than cold.
While the hotel is rated 4 stars, I would say it feels more like a solid 3-star property. That said, the staff are fantastic—friendly and helpful at any time of the day. I had a question at 5 a.m., and the gentleman at reception was ready to assist without hesitation.
My room was comfortable, though on the small side. Interestingly, I was given an accessible room, but it didn’t seem well-designed for wheelchair users, as the space was quite limited for maneuvering.
Overall, this hotel offers a decent stay, but it’s best suited for those looking for budget-friendly accommodations with excellent staff rather than expecting the full 4-star experience

Completed check in with the app. Selected a room and had confirmation. Arrived at the hotel and was advised that I had earlier applied for an upgrade I was upgraded to the room I had already selected ! The receptionist then told me it was £20 extra .. it was £10 on the email I received
We were given our key and went to our room … carpet heavily stained and curtain also had stains and a musky smell. We then went back to reception we were then given another which was slightly better
We then went to the ‘bar’ … very small area, 3 tables for 2 people We used the ladies toilets which were very smelly and no toilet roll
In the morning we went for breakfast I have never had a more tasteless meal The scrambled eggs were awful. There was a card on the table offering waffles .. surprise surprise they’re not doing the waffles No glasses for the juice despite being asked several times for them
We returned later in the day to collect our luggage and asked for staff to call us a taxi. 15 mins later still no taxi They stated they would call for another … we would still be waiting if we hadn’t gone outside and flagged one down ourselves
While waiting for ten taxi we went to the ladies toilets … still no toilet rolls
Very disappointed and not what I expected for a hotel in the Hilton group

Me and my partner stayed here for 1 night , we had great intentions of venturing out but before hand we decided to have our first drink in the bar well that lasted many hours as the bar / restaurant has a super chilled atmosphere clean/ modern bar also I would like to add the they have an outside seating area this is super cool looking right into the river Clyde , comfy wicker seating with cushions and-small complementary blankets to just help with that chill coming off the the River Clyde (what a great thoughtful touch) also with the over head heaters pure bliss . The Staff just wow they could not do enough for us from front of house to management they all stop to say hello to make sure everything is good for you and to ask is there anything they can do for you . I will like to take this opportunity to thank George Stevenson works behind the bar can clearly see how busy the lad gets but every time I was served massive smile bit banter and on he goes 👏 your manager Dean (soz ment to get ur surname Dean) great lad very professional and polite and nothing is too much you can see and feel he runs a slick smooth operation as guest that’s what to feel and of course all other staff 10/10 thank you all . Last things the bed if I could have put it my case I would have lol super comfy we had a great sleep the room was very clean / tidy with commentary tea and coffee in the room for a morning refresher rounded off with a river view 10/10 . Thank you Hilton . Great all round we will be back . See yous soon

Positive points: staff welcoming on arrival, great location for those attending any show in the Hydro. Clean, comfortable bed and room was a good size.
Negatives: Noise. I’m not sure what the hotel is built with but I’m not exaggerating when I say the walls/ceilings etc are PAPER thin. You can hear everything from the next door, and above, and below. Given it’s location and we were staying during a period there were shows on across at the Hydro - coming back Approx 11pm and trying to sleep was impossible. We were on 1st floor and I’m assuming just above reception or bar and the noise from drunk people was unreal. You can also hear people going to the toilet, showering, talking from all directions.
The room was very cold - and it was a choice between that or an extremely loud air unit for heat which sounded like I was sitting under an underpass due to the noise and there’s no chance of sleeping with it on.
Sleep for me is most important, couldn’t get comfortable or switch or with the temperature and noise hence the lower score.
Unsure if I wouid stay again, more likely to try another hotel in the area next time.

Hello Petiteperkytravel, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you found our staff welcoming, enjoyed the clean room, and appreciated the great location for attending shows at the Hydro. We sincerely apologize for the noise disturbances you experienced during your stay. We understand how important a good night’s sleep is, and it’s disappointing to hear that the noise from the surrounding areas, as well as the temperature and heating issues, affected your comfort. We will certainly look into these matters to see how we can improve the experience for future guests. We truly appreciate your feedback and hope you might reconsider staying with us in the future, as we would love the opportunity to provide a more restful stay. Regards, Kirsty

I have stayed at this hotel twice before and so it was a no-brainer to stay here again as it is conveniently placed to get into Glasgow and out again, its perfect for the SEC and the outlook right on the river is nice to throw the curtains open to every morning. The staff at the hotel cannot do enough for you, it is a hackneyed expression 'can't do enough for you' but in this case at the Hilton Garden Inn, Glasgow, Finnieston Quay this is true. In particular, Allan in the restaurant, is a perfectly genial Scottish Maitre D', he makes everyone feel welcome, he is chatty and genial and is quick off the mark. The reception staff always have a smile on their faces as well as the housekeeping team and everyone you meet genuinely 'cannot do enough for you' The room rate is very competitive certainly for a hotel this close to a national exhibition complex, the rooms are clean and tidy and i'll be staying here again next time I'm up, I suggest you do too!
