We paid an extra £10 each for the unlimited breakfast - not sure I would bother with this if I stayed again. It was fine but I probably didn't get my money's worth but if you enjoy a fry up then I would recommend.
The staff are all very helpful and friendly,we booked online for £55 pounds per night which included our breakfast.
You can get a two course evening meal for £13.50 pence, and a breakfast for £9 pounds.
The evening menu has a good selection of food on offer, and the breakfast you help yourself, bacon, sausages, scramble eggs, hash browns, cereal, toast, juices, plus tea and coffee,or fresh fruit salad, other food items are available.
We found the drink prices a bit steep,Stella larger was £5pounds,our friend had a shandy which he was charged £5pounds for,the big shock was being charged £3 pounds for a very small diet coke.
The single beds were small and uncomfortable,if you are tall or
big built, then you don't have much room to stretch out,or move around the bed,(bigger beds would be better).
The toilet had a wet room, which is ideal for anyone who is disabled or in a wheelchair.
Plenty of tea, coffeee, and milk supplied,at no extra charge.
The dining area is small, but very nice, two couches, plus tables and chairs,to sit and have a drink.
The reception staff are all very helpful,if you have any questions or queries, they will help you.
The hotel is close to Queen Street, railway station, and the bus station, plenty of shops, bars, and places to eat or have a coffee.
Extra towels, can be provided, along with tea, coffee, and milk,if you are short or needing anything, just ask the staff.
Management, should consider putting larger single beds,in some rooms.
I would recommend anyone booking a room, should do it online.
Overall,a nice stay, thanks to the very friendly and helpful staff.
Socket on my side of the bed didn't work.
Mattress wasn't comfortable and the pillows, not as good as another hotel that's similar. No free WiFi so cost £3 for 24 hours, which you need as the signal on your phone is bad in the hotel and city centre. The day after I couldn't pay for WiFi again as the signal was so bad I couldn't get onto the web page to pay for it. You get 30 minutes free WiFi a day. You also get 2 devices on the paid WiFi, I had it for my tablet and my phone so my partner had to pay, it then cost £6 for 24 hours.
The hotel is in a good spot to get to a lot of restaurants and pubs etc, train station not too far away. The weatherspoons counting house is just at the top of the road literally 5 minutes walk. There are also a few eateries across from the hotel.
We used it as we went to a concert, the week after the concert prices for a room was a lot cheaper, why do all hotels do this.
We did a 2 hour walk and went to Glasgow cathedral and the Glasgow necropolis which is right next door, the view on top of the necropolis is fantastic so we took a few photos.
Would love to go to Glasgow again but for a bit longer next time
Only complaint was the £10 early check in fee. A little unfair to charge tourists this when coming in on a train and you don’t want to lug your baggage around causing a nuisance on the streets.
Our room was floor 2 facing the street and the bar directly opposite, which did not appear to have closing times on Sunday as we still noise around to 2 to 3 am.
As I am now aware, the hotel does not have hairdryers in the room I know it is a butcher chain, however weekend prices are not often budget prices therefore, to have to go and beg for a hairdryer is not something that I will be doing again. Hotel hotel bar is the breakfast area which is very canteen/school like not welcoming at all and with this in mind, prices are very overpriced. If it was a decent hotel bar, I would not mind, but as stated this is more like a school canteen and does not warrant hotel bar prices.
With all of that in mind, the room was okay no issues bathroom was surprisingly pleasant and we had no other issues as such
Would I stay again ?
That would completely depend on the price at the time of booking, as I have stayed in several hotels in Glasgow, sometimes, for less than what I paid for this and always had better than this. It is very unfortunate that I did not read the reviews first and chose this hotel purely because of the location which suited my needs that particular weekend weekend weekend.
Lots of issues needing addressed.
When I went to checkout no one was at reception to try and complain again. So I left cards at reception desk. My stay wasn't very pleasant I don't I would stay again unless it improves.
Additional towels and beverages are happily supplied on request,
The buffet breakfast is great value for money, with cereal, juice, coffee and tea. The Full English is also available and constantly replenished.
