Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

John O’Groats has more to offer than I ever imagined. The John O’Groats Guest House was the absolute best location to explore the area. For such a small establishment the rooms are so comfortable and so stylish that they are easily on par with some of the best hotels. The breakfast is so good I could imagine having for an evening meal as well. Fortunately we didn’t have to as the hummus starter with hone made pitta bread followed by the shared charcuterie board was easily more than enough for us. The wine selection was equally impressive and very reasonably priced. But the views of the sky at night from a comfortable seating area at the back wrapped in the provided blankets without the light pollution of so many places makes this the place to stay for me. We didn’t do nearly all the things that to be done in the area. Definitely will be back and definitely we will be in the John O’Groats Guest House.

What an absolutely wonderful little guest house. Spotlessly clean and very modern decor. Really loved the framed photo of the Aurora Borealis taken by one of the owners from that very location. Rather than set out for the local hotel half a mile up the road we decided to eat in the guesthouse. We were so glad we did. Quality and presentation of the food (we had the burgers) was seriously exceptional, cooked and served by the lovely young couple who own the guest house. I had a cold beer and my wife a gin (from a local distillery) and tonic followed by an excellent glass of red wine and enjoyed a very enjoyable evening chatting to Leonna and Adam (the owners). The whole experience quite made our day. Will definitely be back.

Immaculate clean room with all the little extras included. Owners are passionate about their business and do everything they can for you to enjoy your stay. Breakfast is better than 5 star hotel - with an emphasis on quality ingredients and proper cooking. Thankyou.

We experienced the best Scottish Hospitality here in the 14 days we was on Holiday, from the moment we arrived Mark & Mary were so friendly, helpful, courteous and couldn't do enough for us.
The rooms, guest house and bathrooms were immaculately turned out and spotlessly clean as was the outdoors space.
The Bathrooms were well equipped, massive towels clean and crisp and the beds comfortable.
The breakfasts were without doubt the best we had in Scotland if not in the UK or ever, any order or request was catered for with no trouble and only pleasure.
I cant recommend what a pleasure it was staying here for two nights, we was treated like family from arrival to departure. A credit to John O'Groats.

What a lovely motel! I by far had the best accommodation in the area for a friends wedding this weekend at John O’Groats. The room was lovely, the en suite was impeccable, the breakfast was delicious!
The signal up there is terrible but the free and easy to access WiFi was incredibly helpful.
The couple who own it are just lovely, we had great chats every time we met, they were so friendly and helpful. Couldn’t have asked for better hospitality!!
Thank you for such a lovely, memorable stay!
Highly recommend!!

Absolutely wonderful stay at this B&B in John O’Groats! Very friendly and gave us plenty of recommendations regarding dining and sightseeing in the area. The breakfast made to order was great and the perfect way to start the day before setting out to explore Scotland! The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water to go around for showering, two items that are always important to us when we travel. 10/10 recommend!

We spent 2 nights here before catching the ferry to Orkney. Leonna and Adam were lovely and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The rooms and general areas were immaculate, we had really comfy beds and were blessed with a lovely view from our room which was a bonus. The breakfasts were excellent and freshly cooked.
It's a great base to visit some beautiful local areas such as Duncansby stacks and cliffs which have amazing birdlife as well as Dunnat Point. We can certainly recommend this B&B to anyone wanting to spend one or two nights in the area as part of the Route 500, as a stopover before catching the ferry to Orkney or simply to explore the area for a day or two. If we decide to visit Orkney again, we'll certainly be back. Helen and David

I had a wonderful night’s stay here at John O’Groats Guest House. Leonna and Adam are the perfect hosts and cooked the loveliest breakfast, which set me up really well for the day’s adventures. The guest house is in such a peaceful location, with amazing views overlooking Stroma and Orkney. The rooms are very spacious, spotlessly clean and fitted out with all the comforts. I had such a good night's sleep and felt so refreshed in the morning.

I would definitely recommend to anyone wishing to stay here.

Many thanks to Leonna and Adam for making my break at John O’Groats so enjoyable

The proprietors of this place obviously take a lot of pride in the product and services they offer. It was very clean, the food was excellent and had everything we needed. We would highly recommend and will return if we are back in the area. We really enjoyed talking to the owners as well.

Wonderful little place with a lovely couple ensuring we felt really welcome. Nice clean rooms, good showers and great breakfast. We had a car, so ‘everyhing John O Groats’ was within 5 minutes, including the famous Duncanby Stacks. What a hike it was! We even saw a seal on the beach. Warmly recommended place
