The rooms here are modern and spotlessly clean. Bed is quite comfy and the shower was great, TV is large and linked to wifi so we could watch movies on Netflix. Hotel is near the centre of Thurso but is next to a tesco.
We ate both breakfast and dinner here and both meals were delicious. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Hotel has put in safety measures surrounding covid and staff were wearing masks and ensuring to take the details of other diners.

We stayed here for the 1 night only. Could not fault the checking in system, with everything explained to us in great detail, I struggled to hear the Receptionist through the glass screen and the noise coming from the lounge, there was a funeral tea going on at the time, it was really noisy.

Our room was just perfect, modern, quiet, great king sized bed, good sized TV and bright modern bathroom, everything was spotless and just what you need in a hotel room.

We came down for breakfast around 8.15am and on entering the dining room, was informed there wasn't any room, some tables had the 'reserved' sign on the tables. The Dining Room looked empty to us. There were a further 3 couples came into the Dining Room and we were all ushered into the lounge area beside the bar which was in darkness. A staff member made the remark, that we had all came down together? The staff put on the lights and told us to chose a table. Later on we noticed a bus party was in the hotel, sorry it should be a case of first come, first served in the dining room, no tables should be reserved for breakfast - at the end of the day, we have all paid for a room and breakfast.

We then went to choose our continental breakfast from the dining area, it was a case of back and forth until the staff came along with cutlery and napkins. There wasn't even a tea urn on display, only coffee, my husband was not a happy bunny.
The tables in the lounge are very low, it was not a comfortable experience having to eat and drink from a very low table. One staff member came and asked me what I thought he was asking was my room number, I think in fact he was asking if I would like a cooked breakfast, he spoke so softly. We didn't realise this, until the waitress came along with the other tables cooked breakfasts. At no time when he spoke to me, did he ask my husband if he would like a cooked breakfast. I said to my husband to order a cooked breakfast, but he had lost the momentum by that time, in fact he was fuming and as he said, you could not enjoy eating your breakfast on the low tables against the height of the chairs. Don't think any of us in the lounge was happy with our breakfast experience.

At the end of the day, the management should know how many guests they have for breakfast regardless of when we all come down to dine - the dining area should have been set up accordingly with the appropriate amount of tables available and staff.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights, arriving by rental car at 6 PM and parking in front. The nice receptionist checked our prepayment, provided the key with WIFI and gave the breakfast times.
We parked in the back next to the quiet annex and took our bags to Room #24, carpeted, with a desk and chair (hot pot/coffee/tea/biscuits), very comfortable double, nice sized TV (good reception of 50+ GB & US channels), small closet, heat register, then bathroom with liquid soaps, towel heater and tiled shower with glass door. The secure WIFI was excellent, numerous outlets, good lighting and 5 second hot water.
The 7 AM breakfast was wonderful and attentively serviced starting with yogurt, muesli, OJ, apple, banana and breads, then choosing a hot meal from the extensive menu; I enjoyed a large ham/cheese/tomato/mushroom omelet, then filter coffee/tea.
Easy walking to the Tesco Superstore across the street and ¾ mile to Old St Peter's Church ruins.

Arrived on Friday 9th October 2020 at the Park Hotel. Before we had booked this hotel we had been informed through email via booking.com that this hotel was a dog friendly hotel and that your dog could sit with you during dinner and breakfast this was not the case.

All other hotels we had stayed in on our travels through the North Coast 500 kept there word of dog friendly allowing dogs to sit with their owners through dinner and breakfast. They simply had a bar area or a lounge area where we could sit out of the way of non dog owners. I would say if you have a dog and look for a dog friendly hotel stay away from this place.

After discussing the point of what we would do for dinner and breakfast the receptionist who I do believe is the owner stated you need to train your dog to be left alone and just leave your dog in the car while you are eating dinner. These were the solutions of an apparently dog friendly hotel.

After our discussions the receptionist agreed to give us dinner in our room. Our room was in what looked like to be a concrete block. We entered the room, firstly all our appliances even the phone and coffee had been ripped out our room and were told if we wanted any of them to request which meant having to walk back and forward to the reception where a phone could of resolved this issue.

I know COVID is playing a big part in this but could of been handled a bit differently think this was a panic approach by this hotel. Whilst in the room the tv lost signal and volume on every channel so I went to reception to try and get this issue resolved.

Again Sandra was there and I explained our problem with our tv. Firstly she looked at my like I was speaking in a different language, she asked have I turned the tv off and on I replied yeh it felt like she was just trying to pan off the complaint so she wouldn’t have to come look at it.

Then she said I find it strange it has stopped working like I would lie about an issue. She then said to me I will have to phone my son who has just sat down to have his dinner so will be half an hour. Now I have worked in customer focused roles and been a manager in customer service jobs and to me a paying guest waiting because her son is having dinner come on now it should be seen to first the issue and rectified.

I think overall the facilities are okay but customer care and service I think to them are very low on their list and think only care about the income they are receiving.

Staff are really friendly which was great as I was travelling alone on business. The room was clean and quite spacious, although around the window frames could do with attention. Sound proofing really lets this hotel down unfortunately, I could hear everything from other rooms as if they were in mine e.g. light switches, running water, coughing, noise from the corridor etc which made me very conscious of making any sort of noise myself e.g. flushing the toilet at night, showering early in the morning etc. It did quieten down in the middle of the night thank goodness so got a decent sleep then. The evening menu looked good and I heard people complimenting the food, although I didn't have dinner there but I enjoyed a nice glass of wine which was reasonably priced. Breakfast was great with lots of options, I had a lovely omelette and nice fresh bread for toast. The hotel's just outside the centre of Thurso and is only about 10 minutes or so walk to shops etc so a good enough location. Overall a good hotel if the noise wouldn't bother you, but I have taken 2 stars off for this as it was a big disappointment for me personally.

We stayed here as part of the NC500 - more of a motel than a hotel, we stayed in an outside concrete block which was clean enough but very cramped, tiny bathroom with faulty lights.

We had a decent enough evening meal but breakfast service was a shambles. I understand there are challenges due to COVID but other hotels manage to deal with this effectively. We had to ask for cutlery, hot drinks, The receptionist was downright rude when I asked for tea and coffee for the room (which had been removed due to covid) and was very impatient when I tried to pre-order breakfast as requested.

Would not stay here again and would advise anyone else to brace themselves for a less than warm welcome and very basic accommodation.

Stayed here during August, we booked because it was one of few places accepting bookings on line before post Covid reopening.
It’s not a bad hotel, the room was very clean and comfortable and the bathroom modern and spacious. The room was very cold when we arrived and took some warming.
Food was good.
The manager (?) was a bit brusque - barking “I suppose you want food as well” when we approached the counter to ask about a table for dinner.
I’d stay here again, but I think it was overpriced for what it is.

I would have chosen 3 1/2 stars if I could. We stayed for one night and months beforehand I booked an accessible room with wet room as I have mobility issues. It was only after my partner had checked us in and unloaded all of our luggage from the car that we discovered we had been given a standard room with very small bathroom and definitely not designed for the less able. Even getting to the room from the car wasn't easy as it involved getting up a few big steps that I only managed with my partners help.
If all of our luggage hadn't been brought in, we could have gone back to reception and asked them to move us to the room we had booked. As it was, I really struggled with the low toilet and shower that had a slippery floor and no grab rail. The bedroom itself was fine, clean and well presented.
We had booked dinner and this is the more positive part of our experience. The food was really good and the service was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was also very good, with generous portions and friendly, attentive service.
When I checked out, I enjoyed a pleasant conversation with possibly the proprietor? I expected to be asked if we had enjoyed our stay, at which point I would have mentioned the problem with being given a different room to the one we booked and how that had affected my stay, but the question wasn't asked and so I am left to write it in my review unfortunately.

Stopped over night to break our journey. Room over looked the front of hotel, it was a large room and the toilet/shower room was the largest I had for a while. The bed was also one of the largest.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, also prompt in replying to email queries.
The room was, due to covid and hotel policy, empty of usual items, tea/coffee making facilities and hair dryer. However if you required them the staff would provide them on request
The food was excellent, one of the best medium cooked Sirloin steaks I have had in a restaurant for many a year, so tender and tasty. My wife had the roast beef dinner which was just as good.
Good place to stay will be back there if visiting Thurso in the future.

Stayed at the Park Hotel for two nights and found the hotel comfortable and clean, prices in the bar were reasonable but although the lounge was open the bar is only opened on a Saturday night. Food was at best described as average and the evening meal had the impression of being pre-cooked with a sauce poured over it. this however was 100% better than the breakfast which consisted of One Sausage, One Rasher of Bacon & One Egg. A guest asked for another sausage but was refused by the server on the grounds that the Breakfast Chef was temperamental, not the greatest Highland service I have experienced.
