We got a warm welcome by Carol and Raymond, many Insider tips for the Region and a special Tourist package with all sightseeing Points. The room was large, clean & cozy, a nice bathroom. Breakfast was excellent and really made personal to order. Thank You !

This was our second stay at the Pennyland House B&B. It's by far the best B&B we've stayed in. The standard of cleanliness and hygiene is first class (and that's coming from someone who is very fussy!) Breakfasts are cooked to order and ingredients are first class. Looking forward to our next visit.

My friend and I stayed 2 nights, we were met in the car park by owner Raymond who greeted us and helped carry our bags to our room. He showed us round our room and then to the breakfast room of the B & B. Could not have had a nicer welcome. Part of the pack provided in our room...

Pennyland House is decorated to the highest standard and has a lovely warm homely feel to it. We were made to feel welcome by Carol straight away and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was tasty and the room was reasonably priced. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

We stayed at Pennyland b & b for 1 night whilst doing the North Coast 500 and wished we could have stayed for longer. Carol, the owner, was so friendly and very accommodating - she really went out of her way to make you feel at home. We stayed in the Royal Dornoch room and were very impressed. The room...

Everything you could hope for in a bed and breakfast - warm welcome, immaculate, clean, well decorated and furnished bedroom. Pennyland House views are superb, a mixture of land and seascapes - very atmospheric. Raymond and Carol were very friendly and kind, Carol even mended my jumper before I walked into Thurso for my supper. Breakfast was excellent, great choice...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Pennyland House is located on the edge of Thurso in a quiet, but convenient location and boasts wonderful views of the Orkney Islands, Dunnet Head, Scrabster and Thurso Bay. It is a three story building dating back over two hundred years. Built in 1780 it is historically noted for being the birthplace of Sir William Alexander Smith, the founder of the Boys Brigade. Over the past few years we have sympathetically renovated this historic building and turned it into a comfortable and interesting bed and breakfast for our guests. Although not yet rated, we are confident that you will not be disappointed with the quality and service during your stay with us. We have enjoyed putting our personal stamp on Pennyland House and have tried to reflect what we believe people want in a 'home from home'. ... more   less
