Pennyland House is located on the edge of Thurso in a quiet, but convenient location and boasts wonderful views of the Orkney Islands, Dunnet Head, Scrabster and Thurso Bay. It is a three story building dating back over two hundred years. Built in 1780 it is historically noted for being the birthplace of Sir William Alexander Smith, the founder of the Boys Brigade. Over the past few years we have sympathetically renovated this historic building and turned it into a comfortable and interesting bed and breakfast for our guests. Although not yet rated, we are confident that you will not be disappointed with the quality and service during your stay with us. We have enjoyed putting our personal stamp on Pennyland House and have tried to reflect what we believe people want in a 'home from home'.

Superb location, very comfortable house. Carol the hostess is exceptionally welcoming and very helpful. Best recommendation I can give is that if in the area it is a 100% certainty that we would book in to stay. Outstanding.

This place is really excellent - it's everything a B&B should be. The hosts clearly have a perfect understanding of what guests want and need. The hostess [and her sister who helped with breakfast] were both very friendly and lovely people who we really enjoyed talking to. We

We can’t recommend this place highly enough! It’s a real gem. It should be used as a lesson to B&B owners in how to run the perfect B&B. The room was fabulous and huge, spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. Breakfast was superb and the owners and staff were all just so

We highly recommend this B&B in Thurso, close to the turn off to the Scrabster Ferry terminal. Carol and Raymond were excellent and friendly hosts and were very attentive and welcoming. The breakfast was well catered for and a plate of fresh fruit was given to each person.

Hi Thank you for your enquiry. I'm afraid we are no longer accepting dogs due to some irresponsible owners :( You can check availability, prices and book online through our website on the Bookings & Prices page or through the "book now" button on the first page. However, please note that we only take advanced bookings for a minimum of two nights from May to September as we are just so busy then :) Kind Regards Carol
