We decided to have an evening meal here and were pleasantly surprised. It was a basic menu and a simple local restaurant with an atmosphere that suggested it catered for the traveler who had some work connection to the local Nuclear Power Station ? Nobody was glowing green or anything ! It's just how it felt 😂

After a charity bash we were directed to the dining room. Quite quickly our orders for drinks were taken and served. Then our orders for meals were taken. Luckily we were in good company and chartered for thirty minutes until our meals arrived. I had chicken curry & Chips. Chips were OK but the curry was outstanding. The staff were... More

We have eaten at the Pentland more times than I care to remember but never previously stayed. This time we decided not to impose ourselves on the family and plumped for the Pentland, the places we have stayed previously being full. Yes, despite its small size and remote position, there is a certain businesslike element in the guests, even if... More

Room comfortable enough but very dated. No fluffy towels or facecloth here! Bed was comfy and everything was clean. Breakfast was all there but the bacon (and everything else) had been under the heat lamps for a while and nothing was cooked to order. Reception area again dated with awful "Scottish" music playing all the time. This is 2016 not... More

I stayed here in October 2016 whilst on a solo cycle trip through the area & was allocated a single room which was in suite. Clean comfortable room with good facilities. Pleasant & helpful reception staff. Cycle friendly with secure cycle storage facility. Superb buffet breakfast - plenty of choice to eat! I would stay here again!

Me and my friends went here for lunch on our travels up north. I had the goats cheese salad which for the price and amount of it,was worth it! They had glasses of wine and the toasted and soup that were on offer.

Needs updating. Victorian style dining room with Victorian style staff. Food was basic buffet style. The room was basic and the floors really creaked badly. At one stage we thought somebody was in the room but turned out to be somebody upstairs.
