From the warm welcome at check in to the friendly attentive service, this is a hotel not to be missed. Our room was well appointed and modern with a beautiful en-suite. The entire building is warm and cosy and the food was very good. We hope to return later this year.

I had to meet a new client who was unfamiliar with Wick but did know of Mackays so we agreed to meet there for lunch. The No 1 Bistro worked out very well indeed. The food was excellent and the service faultless (it is just that extra touch to have someone offer to take your coat rather than having to...

This was such an unexpected delight. I was booked in with work, and there was a bunch of us booked in for an evening meal. When I checked in, I was really impressed with my room. Very spacious, with a huge bed, massive TV and lovely traditional, yet modern decor and a great view of the river. The bathroom had...

Always worth a stay, the Mackay's is comfortable and hospitable, great local produce and especially whiskies, situated on the shortest street in the world! The owners and staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful, breakfast fab.

Went to the Bistro for dinner on the 13/12/16, and found both the quality of service and even more so the quality of the food to be top drawer, Spent both that night and that of the 15/12 drinking at the bar within the hotel, in which the locals, guests and bar staff were extremely personable and likeable. Especially on...

Clearly this is an old building in a confined site and probably a challenge to maintain .Though my room was small ,high in roof ,it was perfectly OK,if a little tired. Only had breakfast and this was fine with range of hot options .much local choice . Staff all lovely . Not a "euro hotel " and better for that.

Dear Happychap103 Thank you for your review. I'm not sure which room you were in and it would be great to know as all the bedrooms were refurbished in 2013/14. Would you mind emailing me at ellie@mackayshotel.co .uk please and let me know. Glad you were well looked after by the team and enjoyed your breakfast. Wishing you and yours...

Really pleasant brasserie restaurant for both lunch and evening dinner. The service and food are of a high standard and our host was extremely friendly and welcoming with a tipple of Old Putenay malt at the end !!

I quite enjoyed this as our last stop driving the NC500! Great selection of surprisingly great old Pulteney whisky and the food was very good! The rooms were quite accommodating and the owner is a friendly knowledgeable whisky drinker as well! Highly recommend this over any other accommodation I have stayed at in Wick!

We only popped in for coffee with friends, whilst passing through, and ended up receiving a history lesson of the teddies, the building, and the neighbouring area from the very knowledgeable and friendly proprietor. It was very refreshing to be made to feel so welcome, and to be offered so much of the proprietors time for the price of a...

Dear Rory T It's really lovely of you to review us for such a short visit, thank you. Murray loves the area and equally loves telling visitors about the history, I think if you cut him in two he'd have 'Mackays Hotel' on one half and 'Wick' on the other :-). Do come back for another visit! Ellie Lamont
