Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely small hotel located within easy walking distance from the railway and bus stations. Iain MacDougall is a very charming proprietor; he went out of his way to accommodate us. Room was spotless, and breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, toast, etc.) was prepared very well. Only concern for some would be there is no elevator/lift. I hope we can return to Inverness in the future. We will be sure to stay here again.

Charming bed and breakfast in a great location. Management was kind and helpful with advice for the city, and called to make a taxi reservation for me for a ride to the airport. The dining room was set up to the nines, and the food options for breakfast were varied and quite good. My room was large enough and comfortable. It's near shopping and restaurants, as well as the bus and train stations. It really was a lovely stay.

Situated in the centre of Inverness, MacDougall Clansman Hotel offers a very comfortable stay and great breakfast. Iain, the host, was very helpful. The hotel has several nearby restaurants only a few doors away.

I traveled to Scotland for the first time and stayed 2 nights at the MacDougall Clansman Hotel ( my first and last night before my flight home). I have to say I thought the hotel was very charming, loved all of the framed pictures of the Clansman in their tartans. The rooms are clean and comfortable, nice warm shower and comfortable bed, both important after a long flight. Iain MacDougall, the proprietor of this family run hotel was kind and helpful and added a personal warm welcome, which was so much appreciated. Breakfast was delicious! Location can't be beat. What else can I say? I will definitely stay there again next time I am in Inverness!

This hotel was an easy walk from the train and bus stations (which are pretty much side-by-side). The front door was locked (COVID) but the desk guy was right there to check me in. He was always on hand and always nice. My room was on the street side, but Inverness is quiet and I enjoyed the view. This was a really nice room, with plentiful plugs, good hot water, comfortable beds and a nice breakfast, made to order each day and served in a pleasant dining room. Also, they were willing to give me the same breakfast, but early, on the day I had an early tour start.

An excellent welcoming family run hotel with a peaceful relaxing ambience. Iain and his staff are warm, friendly, professional and extremely helpful. Great accommodation and a super breakfast. I came to Inverness to attend a family funeral and felt sensitively nurtured by the welcome and caring service I received.
It is so unusual nowadays to find businesses going the extra mile for customers. I would recommend them to anyone looking for accommodation in this area. A jewel in the crown of Inverness !

Jim Liddle.

Best value in Inverness. Great location, perfectly spotless rooms, exemplary service, and all for a fraction of lesser hotels in the area. If you want to stay right in the city center and have convenient access to shops, restaurants, pubs, and all the sites - this is a great option. Free WiFi and an excellent full breakfast are an added bonus on the value.

The entrance and the interieur of the rooms are a little dated, but the bathroom is nice and modern! The rooms were clean and simple and had all the basics you need. We had a lovely breakfast in the breakfast room, that has a nice ambiance, with fresh porridge, eggs, and yoghurts.

The owner of the hotel is a super friendly and helpful guy, he really made us have a nice experience.

All and all a very nice hotel in centre Inverness of (especially considering it is a two star hotel), high quality!

One of the most comfortable hotels I've stayed in. Family owned and operated, Ian, the operator is such a welcoming person - quick to assist and answer any questions. In travelling the country, this is the cleanest hotel I think we stayed in. It isn't ultra modern, but is quaint and just a joy to stay in. Decent internet, and a very nice breakfast put this over the top. A convenient place to stay in Inverness. If I shall be so fortunate to return to Inverness, I will come back.

Not sure as we used public transport. Train & bus station are a 4 minute walk. There is also a large car park at the stations.

Parking is pretty tight there - the hotel does not have a lot.
