This hostel was very good, it was very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpfull. I was hear 'out of season' so it wasn't busy, I had a room for myself which was really nice. I didn't remember reading anything about breakfast or so, but there was some bread for me if i

First, it was very clean, no faults there. However, the doors were unlocked to all levels of the building, there are key card access but they don't matter. As a female traveller this was very disconcerting. The reception being not 24/7 was hard because we were first

The facilities are fair. They would like to save water so in each shower room provides a push button, keep pushing it to keep water runs and it is annoying if you have your hair wash. Staffs was friendly and helpful. Huge common room with tables, chairs and comfy sofa. I booked

Thank you for your review Jip! This matter has been spoken about in length with the team and we all remember it well. I can assure you that all guests are only issued one key card upon check in and they should not be bringing in non-residents! Our key cards have a number on the front which you can call in instances like this and a member of our live in team will come to deal with the problem. There is always a staff member in the building 24 hours, it's just a case of reaching out to them via the number once our reception is closed. It's very disappointing that this happened and disrupted your stay with us, I hope that you enjoyed the other aspects of our hostel and it's not left a bad impression. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your tour! Best wishes, Julia

We stayed in two rooms above the Black Isle Brewery Bar (which is very good - we ate there that night). The rooms faced out of the back of the building onto the ‘secret garden’ (not so secret as there are neon signs about it in the bar). The garden which is really a smoker’s

Thank you for your review. Your concerns have been addressed with both the owners and the bar management. Our terms & conditions and confirmation emails do state that our private rooms sit above the Black Isle Bar, it's a popular spot in the city and some noise is to be expected. I have since updated these to mention the additional roof terrace, we were under the impression that it was clear it was also a part of the bar. I'm sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us but we hope that you will visit the bar again for some delicious pizza's and pints! Best wishes, Julia

Thank you for your review! It's great to get some honest feedback, as a new hostel it's crucial for us to hear back from our guests! I'm glad to see you enjoyed your stay in the hostel and made use of our pizza and pint deal along at the Black Isle Bar! We'll take your comments on board regarding the showers, we are always looking to improve and it's a very good suggestion. We are a 54 bed hostel and feel that the towel charge is appropriate, we do all of our own laundry and an extra 54 towels a day would certainly impact our business! We do hope to welcome you back in the future! Best wishes, Julia
