THE GOOD - Location is idyllic, right on the shore of the firth with lovely, expansive views from the grounds, the restaurant, and from some rooms - Staff are all friendly and helpful (but see below) - Beds are very comfortable - Toiletries are nice quality - Breakfasts are good, with a special mention for the delightful ray of morning sunshine server, Sarah - The food in the restaurant is excellent in both quality and presentation (but see below) THE BAD - Our suite was cold on arrival with the heating turned off. When we pointed this out the receptionist seemed very surprised, fiddled with all our radiators, then went away to try and sort it. We were called to say the heating timer had now been turned on (why not on all day in dull and windy weather?). However this lasted only an hour before going off again, and the radiators remained stone cold 24/7 for the entire remainder of our stay. We did not bother complaining again and made do with the little fan heater in the wardrobe, but surely such basic guest comfort should be no.1 priority in a 4* hotel. - Tea bags not replaced with room service. - Dinner service in the restaurant is patchy. Seriously good kitchen skills and delicious food is badly let down by badly trained and inadequate front of house staff. Very friendly and pleasant but inconsistent - sometimes helpful but often inattentive. The excellent chef deserves better. THE UGLY - The decor in our suite, our bathroom and throughout public areas is now very tired, worn, and in some places seriously scruffy. Way below expected standard for this price. CONCLUSION - Overpriced for the quality, but it's the location and views you're paying for here, and for that it's worth a visit, as well as the lovely, happy staff and excellent food. However this place desperately needs some cash investment or it can't be long before they're downgraded from 4*.

Wonderfully quaint hotel on Beauly Firth in the British tradition. Great service. Wonderful food. Comfortable and well stocked bar. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Not opulent, but well appointed. The luxury comes when enjoying the drawing room and the grounds. A cup of tea by the firth doesn’t disappoint.

Stunning location, stunning room with a view you’ll never tire of staring at. The food though is just extraordinary- the best I have ever tasted- the chef a genius. The staff are really lovely and the bar & restaurant areas are cosy Scottish and gorgeous. Just superb!

Second visit to this charming hotel. Food was amazing. Staff couldn't do enough for us. We stayed two nights and didn't really go out as we were so relaxed in the hotel.. We had a view from our room overlooking the water which was amazing. We had five star service. Will definetly be returning again soon.

Incredible place in a stunning location. THE MOST AMAZING FOOD! The staff were great, the hotel was very relaxing, our room was beautifully well kept and well equiped. We had a fantastic meal in the formal dining room which was very fine dining. Breakfast was equally good and much more relaxed. Very reasonably priced.

This is a beautiful hotel in a very attractive location. Our room was very comfortable and looked straight out over the Beauly Firth. The staff are friendly and professional and the food is top quality. They obviously have a talented and experienced chef. All Covid protocols were followed. Some of the decor needs a bit of attention and the bathroom was rather dated - two taps on the basin and no grab rail for the over-bath shower, the latter a safety issue. Overall though, it was a positive experience and a relaxing three days. We'll be back.

I will pass on your comments to all our staff who work very hard in order to receive such praises. I have noted your remarks on the grab rail and have started the process of installing these where deemed necessary. Thank you for pointing this out. What a lovely little hotel! Beautiful decor and setting and really well kept. The staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful with any requests we had. I would highly recommend the three course dinner. Everything cooked to perfection and the bread was so yummy! Huge compliments to the kitchen team. My only slight criticism would be the price of some of the drinks... I felt they were slightly steep, especially the cocktails, which put me off ordering. It would also have been nice to offer a few more varieties of draught beer and stout. And the £10 per person room service charge also put me off from ordering room service. However, these are very small criticisms on an otherwise amazing stay. Its also advised to research the history of the house and its grounds, particularly the 'love' tree. We stayed in the 'cedar' room which was beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful birthday stay. We will be back!

Lovely hotel with terrific staff. Food was exceptional, beautifully prepared. Room was clean. With plenty of space and dogs were welcome. Setting next to the Firth must be wonderful in summer. Could not have asked for more.

Being an avid stayer within hotels it is rare to come across a hotel run so well with great, polite friendly staff. The hotel itself is more of a country house within a beautiful setting. We cannot speak highly enough of the professionalism, decor, rooms and just tremendous. Breakfast was really well cooked with no after tastes of cooking oil or fats or smells as in some hotels the eggs are greasy, the bacon is fatty and tastes after cooking oil etc. We were served for breakfast by wonderful staff who did everything to ensure our breakfast was of the highest standard and service. We would highly recommend this hotel to those who can remember what the hotel services were like many years ago. Well done Bunchrew House Hotel we will definitely be back.
