The Glenmoriston Town house hotel was a great choice on our trip to Inverness. It was the first of many hotels along the NC500 and one I would return to.

Breakfast was delicious, high quality ingredients, generous amounts and really well cooked.

Check in was simple and the lady who checked us in was very professional and friendly when we got up to our room she also Called us to check that all was okay with the room which was a nice touch.

The room its self was lovely and clean, compact but nice, I would say that the bathroom was a little dated and there was a few dated things in the room such as the TV and a couple of pieces of furniture but nothing major. We had a room with a view over facing the river there was a tent up with live music that I would say stopped at a reasonable time when on holiday. It wasn't too noisy from the room.

The location is perfect as its overlooking the river its very picturesque and it seemed to be a popular bar for non residents to stop for meals, drinks and to enjoy the live music.

What I liked most was the location and how friendly the staff where. It was also a great bonus to have ample onsite parking during our stay.

Downside the service for drinks was very slow due to business they definitely needed more staff for the number of people stopping for drinks. Staff said they where fully staffed but we waited up to 30 minutes at times for our next drinks. Also as the piano was outside the music in the piano bar needed to be turned off as whilst sitting in their relaxing there was the live music from outside combined with music indoors which was a little annoying.

Oh and our bed was two single beds pushed together which wasn't ideal when booking a double room.

We had a couple of nights away at the Glenmoriston Townhouse Hotel in late October and we weren't expecting much what with all the issues around covid/staffing etc. We were very pleasantly surprised at how well the Glenmoriston was managing the issues. It was clear showing that a lot of effort had been made to keep customers safe, with available hand sanitiser, keeping distance notices, sanitised and sealed rooms and sanitising seats immediately someone left.

The staff were all excellent nothing was too much trouble. Our room was a Townhouse Club King and located in the adjacent annex, it was great room, comfortable bed with a view over the River Ness as requested.

Breakfast was great, good choice on the menu but we stuck with the full Scottish. We also enjoyed dinner in the Glenmoriston, my wife had the scallops & pork belly starter and I had the soft-shell crab both dishes were delicious. I followed up with a sirloin steak and it was fabulous, cooked medium rare and so full of flavour one of the best I’d had in a long time. It was so good that I persuaded my wife to have it on the second night unfortunately it was nowhere near what I had the first night and as far as my wife was concerned inedible which just goes to show it's down to the chef on the day, that was the only disappointment of our stay.

We would like mention our server David who went above and beyond to make us welcome, a real asset to the Glenmoriston, great personality and customer focus. He also followed up next day to say hi and take our orders which was a really nice touch.

Our first night was Saturday and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening’s entertainment in the whisky & piano bar, fabulous, great range of whiskies on offer too.

We mentioned earlier that the staff were excellent, we'd left a coat with inside outfit hanging in a wardrobe when we left and the staff were quick to phone us such that it wasn't a big issue to return and pick up the coat as we were only a half hour away rather than hours! Thank you to all of you… such a great team… I would recommend this place to everyone… Will definitely be booking again…

The good points!
Fantastic location right on the River Ness, close to the park and town.

Lovely staff, we found everyone very friendly. The bar staff were working so hard with service outdoors due to covid, even in the pouring rain!

The bar and restaurant are nicely decorated and they usually have a piano player, wish we could have enjoyed them under normal circumstances!

Burgers and fries from the outdoor bbq were fab, great cocktails too (served outdoors of course) they have done their best to present drinks nicely in plastics. Good range of choice for breakfast too and efficient service.

Our room was very clean , spacious in terms of floorspace with a table and decent vanity unit. It was nice to have a nespresso machine too and we also had robes and slippers, which I love!

The not so good!
We had room 11, which I see others on here were not happy with. It's an attic room and the ceiling is very low in some areas, would be a problem if you're tall (we're not so it was ok!).

The bathroom, only had a shower off the bath taps, not fixed to wall (due to that low ceiling). The bathroom was also pretty dated and tired with cracked tiles.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and we were happy with the value for money. The location and their efforts to make things work in the current situ won us over.

My wife and I booked a Deluxe King Room for 2 nights b&b on 13th. July'20 for 17th. July to 19th. July'20 at £350. We booked dinner in the restaurant for the evening of 17th. although we were advised that the 18th. was fully booked.. When we checked in and went up to the room, we found the room had not been properly set up ( ie. no kettle and only one light at the bed ). We called the manager as the wardrobe was very dusty inside and out. The manager came up to check out our complaint and later appeared with a cloth and cleaner fluid as the housekeeper who was supposed to clean it did not appear. However, he did a good job on the cleaning ! After dinner on the evening of 17th., we were asked when we wanted our breakfast delivered to our room as there was no cooked breakfast from the kitchen. I asked why we were not advised of this change at time of booking as our rate included a full cooked breakfast. The breakfast each morning consisted mainly of a bit of fruit, a cold soggy croissant in a plastic bag and a small bottle of juice. The first morning there was no milk for the instant coffee we made after receiving a kettle plus no butter for croissants. On checking out on the last evening the bill had not been adjusted to reflect a reduction for the poor continental only breakfast. We subsequently received a £20 reduction to cover this which was not enough. We subsequently discovered that the restaurant was to start serving cooked breakfasts from 20th. July'20. NEVER AGAIN!!

We checked into the hotel late at night after a long drive and were very tired. The checkin was straight through but the room was terrible. I had chosen Glenmorriston hotel paying £500 for 3 nights because we wanted a luxurious stay and break with my wife and kid. However we got a small attic room with reduced head room that I hit my head against multiple times. The bathroom was tiny with no shower area and a bath-tub, toilet, basin crammed against the walls - with no windows and a loud extractor fan. We requested for a room change straight away and were assured it would be done in the morning after breakfast.

In the morning after breakfast we requested to move into the new room (at 11am) but the room wasn’t ready and were informed we would have to wait till 1pm. We requested to speak with the manager but he wasn’t available. We informed the reception that we could not take a shower (after the long day yesterday we were desperate for it) but there was nothing they could do.

The whole experience left a really bad feeling and spoiled the relaxing experience we so desperately wanted. Reading through the reviews late at night it appears the horror of Room 11 has been ongoing for a few years. I really wonder what the management gains from putting paying customers through this bad experience ....

We stayed in the Glenmoriston from 27th Dec 2019 to 1st Jan 2020 for 5 nights and paid an extra £14.95 pp for breakfast. The hotel is supposed to be a 4 star! The breakfast was the worst we've ever experienced. It came either undercooked or overcooked! They ran out of sliced brown bread every morning (not homebaked bread) the continental selection consisted of some fruit if you were lucky and a sliver of cheese in a wrapper there were no cured meats or anything like that. I decided to have porridge one morning as an alternative to the overcooked or undercooked breakfast, the porridge on the menu was described as creamy with honey etc, it was watery and a very small portion, this is what I paid £14.95 for? I could get a steak in a restaurant for that price!!! Will never go back! We complained and got nowhere. The staff were lovely, we didn't meet the Manager but whoever the manager is he/she has definitely taken his/her eye off the ball. We spoke to another lady who had found a sock (not belonging to her) in her room the first day and the second day she found the second sock (not belonging to her), she complained and agian got nowhere. They still took all our money. Will never go back and would not recommend!!

We spent 3 nights at the Glenmoriston Town House Hotel in July. The hotel is well situated overlooking the river Ness and in the centre of town. Parking was easy and the location of the hotel gave great access to the surrounding countryside. The room was compact but comfortable and clean. We slept very well in a big, comfy bed. The only issue with the room was that we had to keep the curtains shut as our room overlooked the recently erected outdoor beer tent. This would be easily rectified with a screen or blind. We had breakfast each day and two dinners at the hotel. The food was fabulous! Despite new Covid arrangements just in place, the staff were very efficient. There was a very good choice at breakfast although it was not clear from the menu. If you want something not on the menu just ask and staff will do their best to help you. There was a good choice for dinner although quite limited vegetarian options. Food was fresh, great quality and delicious! However, it was the convivial and efficient staff that stood out for us. Nothing was too much trouble, and everyone appeared delighted to make our stay enjoyable. We would recommend the Glenmoriston for a stay in the capital of the Highlands!

We stayed in the freestanding building next to the hotel building with the restaurant and loved our ultra-comfortable and spacious room and bathroom. The hotel is situated along the River Ness is a safe area within walking distance to terrific restaurants. Even ridiculously loud wedding reception music blaring until midnight in the function room below us didn't ruin our stay but is reflected in our rating.

£335 for two nights. I was told the price represented "supply & demand". I had to change rooms in between because they were so full. So first night, the room was £160pd. My room was small, dingy and had mold in the bathroom and the bedroom had some MDF nailed to the wall above my wardrobe which made the room look tatier than most youth hostels I've stayed in.
Second night, £175 and the room was their version of executive. Lovely view across the river, but small and just nothing special. Their hot water was piping hot with good pressure in both rooms - that's about the only positive thing I can say.
My biggest gripe was the surly welcome from reception. Every encounter I was made to feel like their way or the highway, just no warmth or customer care. Zero interest in customer comfort or care.

Hotel is in a great location for everything and has the beautiful river ness on its doorstep.. The hotel missed a brilliant chance this year while we were all forced to do a UK "staycation". Instead of showing welcome, care and value for money, they chose to max out the price to a level that was an absolute rip off for what you get in respect of service and value. I will not be returning 100%. I will return to Inverness and I fell head over heels in love with Scotland.

Really nice location with beautiful river views, a good breakfast and a terrific nightlife vibe, but not great for families and very small rooms with uncomfortable beds. Probably best for romantic couples getaways. Really good location to explore
Loch Ness and the Black Isle with many good Inverness restaurants nearby.

Would strongly avoid room 4 which sits right above the outside bar (remains loud until quite late).

Our bathrooms don't have hairdryers - the majority of UK hotels don't have then due to building restrictions. There are hairdryers in the bedrooms, and a lovely big mirror there too. Hope that answers all your questions, see you soon!
