Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Good basic, accommodation everything under one roof for an overnight stop. Evening meal and breakfast were good. Staff nice and pleasant. Our twin room was a little cramped, I personally don't like a bed up against a wall, managed to headbutt the wall twice in the night. Maybe other twin rooms are possibly bigger??? Would stay again but not in a twin room

The owners and staff are what made our stay so good. Outside off putting inside warm and friendly, made to feel so welcome. Food excellent, room cosy, very clean, all the staff helpful and courteous. Knowledge of local area and attractions great. Easy check in and out. Would recommend

Stayed for one night with a couple of colleagues. We have a business account for the purple place and usually stay there. Inverness was busy so the office booked us in here. After reading the reviews I was somewhat surprised to find myself in a relatively decent room with a large clean bathroom.
Okay its on an estate but its not exactly the set of shameless. It has a traditional bar which I guess could get a bit noisy towards the weekend. We didn't eat there so I cant vouch for the food.
We did have breakfast and that was fine, no dramas.
For the money it was fine.
So if you want a budget room in the Inverness area on a weekday then this might fit the bill.

I have stayed at Smithton Hotel on several occasions and it’s a great place to stay if you’re on a motorcycle road trip. Because of its location to the East of Inverness, it’s a good place for a base if you planning radial ride outs to explore the West, East and North Coasts of Scotland. It’s also a good place to stay for a stopover. The hotel rooms are very clean and the staff a very friendly. I have always been made to feel very welcome. The is undercover secure parking for motorcycles and the price are very keen to. I definitely recommend Smithton Hotel as a place to stay to explore Scotland.

Booked family room which were adjoining rooms 15/17 - two great rooms, plenty of space and loved that there were two of everything, bathrooms, TVs, hospitality trays etc.
Son "baggsed" double bed so Mother and Father slept in two singles. Yes son is spoiled but the two rooms gave us a bit of privacy when the door was closed.
We were advised about 70th birthday party on the Saturday of our stay but we were not disturbed.
Breakfast really good especially the bacon!
Would totally recommend Smithton Hotel to others and we are looking forward to a return visit which is always my benchmark when writing a review.

We were staying locally at Smithton Cabins and decided to visit the Smithton Hotel for dinner and drinks. We had a really lovely evening. We were advised by the bar manager, I think he was the manager, that food wasn't available until 7pm but he said we could probably order earlier if required, the chef cooked everything from scratch and just needed some time to set up etc. We were happy to take in the atmosphere and enjoy a few drinks and wait until 7. I cannot recommend the Smithton Hotel highly enough, the service we received was outstanding, the member of staff who took our order was so accommodating and took the time to chat to us and ask about our local stay, even although he was rushed off his feet. The restaurant got really busy and he was so friendly to everyone, nothing was too much trouble for him. We had a really delicious meal, my partner is a steak pie connoisseur and he absolutely loved it. We had hoped to return for dinner on our final night but our cabin and hot tub were too appealing so we stayed in instead. If I return to Smithton I will definitely eat or even possibly stay at the Smithon Hotel. Thank you for a fantastic experience.

My brother and I stayed at the Smithton Hotel for the Etape Loch Ness Saturday 23 until Monday 25 April. Booked in by Becky ( lovely and friendly ) and we had two rooms. Very comfortable, lovely and clean.
Great little hotel, friendly staff, very friendly locals in the bar, nice food.
We were totally looked after and would not hesitate to stay here again. Great little hotel with good support from the local folks of Smithton!!
Thanks Pete and Becky and all the staff.

This place exceeded our expectations. Peter is hilarious and went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. We're up here for the North Coast 500 and staff offered inside knowledge on places to visit and things to expect. The whole staff team were fabulous. The food was delicious and they have pool tables in the bar! 10/10 would recommend.

What a pleasant surprise! I didn't have high expectations of the Smithton Hotel - and I have to admit that I thought my fears were well founded when I saw the outside of the building. But it's all freshly decorated inside and the staff were just totally lovely. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, and the dinner and breakfast were excellent. My room was a little small - it might have been a bit tight for space if my wife had been with me on the trip - but it suited me just fine. If you're looking for somewhere clean, comfortable, friendly and simple, then I don't think you could go wrong with the Smithton Hotel.
