Me and my partner stayed here for 3 nights and it felt very covid safe the way in which the breakfast was organised was superb.
The staff were unbelievably friendly at all times and were so helpful and made the stay very pleasant.
The decor is quite dated but the tartan carpet and old ceilings do add some charm.
You have to book hour slots for the gym and pool we had no trouble booking the times we needed for these.
We booked to have dinner in the restaurant on the first evening. The food was rubbish for the price to be honest. It was the only disappointing part of the trip. I had the scampi and it was oven chips and deep fried shop bought scampi. My partner had mac and cheese which again wasn't anything special it was very expensive for what we got costing between £12-25 for a main. We both got pudding of sticky toffee and that was delicious but im guessing bulk bought.

The staff we cannot praise enough they were friendly and worked so so hard during breakfast. The breakfast was nice with a large selection of cereal, toast, porridge and then cooked breakfast including potato scones which was lovely hot and fresh :)

The location is about a 10 min walk up a hill from the centre to get to the hotel they organised taxis to the airport and the clava cairns for us.

Enjoyed a 2 night stay here with my husband , we were in annex room 255 which was huge. Room was quite cool but soon heated up when turned radiator on, it was also spotless. Huge comfy bed . Powerful shower and separate bath in large bathroom also. Breakfast was lovely and the one meal we ate at hotel was delicious as was the 15 year old whisky I celebrated my birthday with. All staff we spoke with were very friendly and took time to chat during their busy shifts. Short walk into town with some pleasant bars to be found. Would stay at hotel again if in Inverness.

We travelled Scotland doing the north route 500 in July
We stayed in 8 hotels and this hotel was by far the worst !
The photos On web must have been taken years back because this is not what we saw when arrived .
The whole experience was not good from the start
Covid 19 is very serious to us all and we were all a little weary travelling so soon after Scotland opened up but the hotels before Inverness had it so well organised and when we arrived here straight away the reception area itself was in need of a clean ! Checking in we were told nothing in the rooms no more because of cross contamination etc... but you could take paper cups from a table that every man and his dog was obviously touching with coffee and tea sachets to your room yuck!! Why didn’t they have clean mugs from 60 deg dishwasher in your room is beyond me like all the other lovely clean hotels .
Then we were given a room having to pass a couple with a huge Alsatian travelling up and down stairs to their room yuck
We got to our room well that was to my standards dirty stains over furniture it looked like a hostel
The staff I can’t complain they do what they are told it’s not their fault it’s up to management.
They Did their very best to move us to the attic room as as we were leaving first thing so we took it .
Th carpets need replacing and having seen big dogs allowed there I was walking around with shoes .
We left in the morning moved on and was lucky enough the other hotels were lovely clean and no paper cross contamination cups thank god .
Would we stay again
Definitely not!!!!!!!!

My husband and I have just returned a day early from this booking.

The room was a disgrace, considering it was meant to be an Executive Room.

We paid £75 per night for 2 nights and could only stay one due to the numerous problems with the room.

Firstly no tea, coffee making facilities in the room or any note to explain what to do, just a kettle and a coffee maker that didn’t work, so I had to go to reception to ask for some teabags etc and we were given paper cups, they blamed this on Coronavirus but I find this hard to believe as if we had been given proper cups they would have done for the entire visit as the note in the room said that room service would not be around.

The bathroom door did not close properly, we didn’t want to force it in case we got stuck in there, very poor maintenance as it looks like it has been like that for a while. Also the plug lever in the sink is bent so it was not possible to fill up the sink.

There was wallpaper hanging down in the corners and one of the light fittings was loose and hanging down too.

The room looked clean but felt grubby.

I had a bath in the afternoon, there was no hot water, at best it was luke warm. Even in the morning my husband had to have a cold shave as still no hot water.

At night around 7pm I felt a bit cold so I put the radiator on in the bathroom and the one near the two armchairs, neither got hot until the middle of the night when the sound of the heating system kept us awake half the night.

The bed had springs sticking up which had been attempted to be masked by a mattress topper, it was a poor attempt, this also kept us awake.

Early afternoon we went out for a walk, as we came downstairs from our room instantly we could smell cigarette smoke, we got to the front door and there was man standing there smoking chatting to a group of people, the man in question was the man that served us breakfast this morning, not only disgusting that we were expected to walk through this cigarette smoke but I think you will find that it is illegal to smoke in doorways.

We were really looking forward to having a few days in Inverness as a trip down memory lane but after our experience at your hotel yesterday and then no sleep at night when we woke this morning we just wanted to get home as quick as possible.

The only positive about this stay was the breakfast was nice.

This was by far a very unpleasant experience for us both, we arrived home exhausted and totally deflated.

I did report to the receptionist on the way out.

Avoid this hotel, we booked a month ago and had to pay the pre shutdown rate, if i had booked a few days ago it would have been cheaper, there are a lot nicer hotels in Inverness with better rates than we paid.

We recently stayed here for a couple of days. We have a great time and will be recommending it to others, as well as returning in the future.
The staff at the hotel are so friendly and helpful, every single member of staff we met from the front desk, to the bar, dinner and breakfast. They really make the place.

We enjoyed dinner and breakfast, and there's a great range of drinks in the bar to sample. The pool is really good and warm as well, a minor criticism here is the lockers in the ladies needs looking at.

We felt safe the entire time during the current circumstances, everywhere was clean and everyone was wearing masks.

Yes the place is a little dated in places, and the floorboards above our bedroom were very creaky, but it's an old building and it's very good value for what I paid. We'll happily return and stay here in the future. Its in a good location for the city centre too, just a short walk.

First impression was oh dear! Our rooms were on the first floor, we had two minors with us and had two separate rooms and wee bit apart, not ideal. The decor was very dated and badly needed freshening up. Our room had two beds pushed together which made it bigger than the average double, there was a desk, stool and chair in the corner. The curtains were hanging down in places, the window only opened in and didn’t tilt. One disadvantage for me is the shower over the bath, bit difficult to climb in as you get older. The staff were really friendly and the breakfast was nice quality. The negative things were, terrible creaky floors from the room above, most annoying, the tv was the size of a computer screen and everything was dark and dreary. The kids used the pool and loved it but the towels they got smelled of the kitchen they were horrible. The location was convenient and within walking distance of the town.

This was our second stay here but unfortunately it wasn’t great this time. What I really liked was the location of the hotel, only 10 minutes walk to town, ample free car parking, good breakfast choices, large comfortable bed and all staff are very helpful and friendly. The room was fine for the cost, but we seemed to be right over the kitchen or the pool as a very loud extractor fan would start about 7am. It was worse because the room was hot so had to keep the window open. Our neighbours had a dog in their room, which wanted to go out every 5 minutes right throughout the night and they seemed to have a constant stream of people in and out the room, but every time this happened their door would bang and the fire exit door would bang as they came/went and it literally shook the entire room every time. And what with the ceilings being paper thin and hearing everything from the room upstairs, it made for 3 pretty sleepless nights alongside the hot room and the extractor fan.
The shower was bad. Black mould on tiles and grout, around the taps and shower fittings. The shower fitting was loose and almost coming off the wall and the plughole was filled with ‘something’ that we had to pick out for the water to drain away. Every channel on the tv was pixelated. I had to unplug all aerials and power and replug them in, then re-tune which seemed to get most channels back. However, when you turn it off and on again all channels have once again disappeared/not working. The wifi was awful. If you could get it at all, you would only stay connected for a few seconds before you were disconnected.
Good covid regulations in place but sanitizer on first floor was empty for the three days we were there.
The only other issue was that I am assuming we should have been told about upon checking in was that there was not going to be any room cleaning done during our stay. I’m assuming this was due to covid regs. Well, I’m assuming this is the case as there wasn’t any cleaning or replenishing of toiletries/toilet paper/towels done for three days. This is fine, but just a heads up this was the case is probably needed.

We were so happy to hear that the craigmonie was open for guests and we could return! We were aware that there would be restrictions in place. we decided to book and all I can say is thank you! the social distancing plan was so clear to understand that it didn’t even feel like we were distancing! all though it was obvious but not scary, it was lovely to see Lauren and Danielle on reception and they were as friendly and as professional as ever! we ate in the hotel on the first night and all I can say is hats of the the chef Amy! that had to be the best sea bass meal I have ever tasted. in the end my husband said so I take it you liked it I was so happy with it. our room was so clean you could tell that the housekeeping staff are up to standard with making sure the rooms are sanitised to a high standard. I could not have been happier with our stay so thank you to Niall and all the staff for a great couple of days we will definitely keep returning on an end note I have to commend you on your hand sanitising stations there wasn’t an area that didn’t have one there was even one at the entrance to the annex where our room was once again thank you and well done for all your hard work xx

The Hotel rang before arrival to inform us that the room we had booked was unavailable as the previous occupants had to stay longer but they had a family room available which they had allocated us which was fine by us but we couldn’t really understand why the people in our room wouldn’t be allocated the different room as we had already booked it! During this conversation we realised we had actually booked a night earlier than we should have but the reception were really helpful and said they could change our booking or we could stay an extra night at a reduced rate £85 (although we were eventually charged a different rate, £120, at check in) to make up for having to change room. We opted to stay the extra night.

The room was in a separate annex which was fabulous and the room and bathroom were both really big. Possibly too big for us, but there was a sofa bed and a pull out bed under the bed. With us not using these beds the room looked empty and stark but would be a brilliant space for a family. The room itself was a bit dated with a hole in the bathroom door and a slight rip in the sofa but it was inviting and very clean. Black out blinds would be good though as the early morning light woke us up very early.

We ate in the restaurant one night of our stay, I say restaurant but it was set in a cross conference room/working mans club like room with no music or atmosphere and you felt like if you spoke everyone in the room would’ve heard all your conversation. The food was delicious but quite expensive for the setting (paid much less in Edinburgh for a similar meal in a lovely environment) and not much choice on the menu. We didn’t want to eat here the following night.

Breakfast was very good and organised well.

All in all we enjoyed our stay here immensely and thought it was very good value for money. The staff at Craigmonie were brilliant. Friendly and very helpful.

Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if I’m in Inverness again

Dear Stevie, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. I understand your comments regarding the restaurant, our usual setting is in our conservatory. unfortunately this does not lend itself to allowing social distancing. I have passed your room comments onto our maintenance team to look into and rectify. Hopefully we can welcome you back again once restrictions have lifted. Best Wishes Niall

In general this hotel is ok, the staff really are lovely and the breakfast was good (even if the dining room was hotter than the sun!). However...

We should have read WalkerM's review about room 112. They were not wrong, the kitchen extraction was incredibly noisy until gone 11pm and then was switched back on at 6am for breakfast service. Obviously this cannot be avoided, but room 112 should be a storeage area or something people do not pay for!

Also, when I book a king size bedroom, it's generally excepted that you have paid for a kingsize mattress, rather than two single beds, pushed together, covered by a double sheet. We both have shoulder injuries and this situation was just downright uncomfortable.

On the plus side, the room was immaculately clean, the water for the bath was hot and it was a large room with plenty of space for storeage.

Such a shame that the bed quality and the noise basically left us with no sleep. Normally with any problem like this I would happily speak to reception about it, but I had a hospital appointment the next morning and we did not have the time or the energy to dispute it, given that we had already paid the bill.

If you are looking for a place to crash for one night, this hote is fine, however don't bank on having a relaxing sleep!
