Stayed at this hotel last week, it was a last minute booking after doing the NC500, we arrived at 8:30pm with our 2 dogs tired and ready to chill. We found our room at the back of the hotel, our beds appeared clean but the sofa in the room had a large stain on the seat ( as if someone had fallen asleep drunk and had a wee) and another drink stain on the arm. Now I can here you thinking why didn't you change rooms ? My other half was shattered and clearly didn't want any hassle and we weren't going to sit on the sofa anyway, when we went to the bar I showed the staff photos to make them aware of the damage. To be honest I was offered another room but declined, the lady suggested I put a towel over the stain or flip the cushion. I had 3 large blankets from our trip so I covered the sofa and my dogs enjoyed a good night's sleep.
Still I'm kind of annoyed to know I had looked for a nice clean (not cheap) hotel. Why hadn't the cleaning staff reported the state of the room and had it cleaned properly? Alternatively if it couldn't be fixed cover it up with throws or assure customers it was clean. Perhaps they should use the extra cleaning money they charge for dogs to repair the damage.
You will see from my images there was also a unattractive stain on the carpet ( iron brew I'm told ).

This hotel was nice and clean. The single room had enough space and the bathroom was clean but the mattress offered no support at all, it needs replaced.

Every member of staff wore a facemask and at one point I counted 5 sanitiser bottles by the front door. However, there were workmen digging up the terrace area in front of the hotel and they never seemed to wear a mask whenever they came into the building.

The rear door leading to the car park had no sanitiser and guests were freely coming and going without sanitising their hands. I thought this was a serious oversight and spoke to reception but there didn't seem to be any urgency to sort the problem.

The bride and groom booked a meal after their wedding and an overnight stay and a meal for the 6 of us. We were welcomed at the door with pre arranged drinks and taken straight to the table. Drinks were brought straight away and the table had been set out with balloons and confetti in a bay window with a great view. Orders were taken and gluten free options checked by staff. Starters were brought quickly and were plentiful - the main courses were perfect. I've not seen 5 different steak cooking options arrive bang on first time before and as a side note the staff didn't need to ask who's order was who's which made you feel special . a cheese board finished the meal for me and then we cut the cake. We went to the cosy bar next door and stayed till closing time. The bride and groom said the room was fantastic and the breakfast huge ! . We'll be back to get the steak again :-).

I spent 2 nights at the Beaufort hotel with 4 friends, in 4 rooms. Our first problem was the lack of a lift… one guest can’t manage stairs. We were told we couldn’t be moved to a ground floor room, so first night was up 2 flights of stairs. There is nothing on their website or Facebook page explaining poor access for disabilities… we had checked beforehand. Second problem? The rooms we were given were tiny, like student accommodation. If you look on the website the rooms shown are large and look luxurious; as we were paying £160 per night per room this was what we expected. The reality was extremely disappointing. The rooms were tired, carpets stained and generally poor, my mattress was horrible. Third problem? We were all given a printed sheet explaining that due to Covid, our rooms would not be cleaned between our stay but our bins would be emptied and the towels (which were thin and tiny!) changed. Our towels, soaking wet from use, were left unchanged. The Beaufort hotel is overpriced, has a misleading website, does not cater for disabilities, poor quality. We all felt ripped off…

Went here for dinner with a couple of friends visiting from Glasgow, disappointed doesn't even come close. The outside has been made into a beer garden, and it was mobbed , no social distancing here, and so very loud, not just with chatter but also with music. There was also no signs of track and trace.
Once were shown to our table inside we ordered drinks, out of 4 water glasses, 2 were dirty, which the waitress noticed before she took them off the tray, brought 2 back, we had to give 1 back as it had lipstick on it. Then when drinks brought, 1 of those glasses also had lipstick on. Not a good start!
The food was ok, nothing special, and neither was the service, this next section is for the management, you need to sort a few things out
* Teach your waiting staff how to wait, not to stretch over people to put down/pick up plates
* Check cutlery and glassware are actually clean
* Replace cutlery when used for starters and not expect diners to have to take off another table so dinner could actually be eaten
* Get staff to wear masks, as not all were
* Have no smoking area outside the place where people eat, especially when the top Windows are wide open, can't say the smell of cigarette and cigar smoke, made our meal any more enjoyable

I was actually embarrassed to bring our friends here, I will never, ever go here again.

We stayed in the royal room with hot tub and my partner spent the whole evening in the toilet whilst staff were in and out trying to get the hot tub to actually work . We were offered a return but I’ve declined as we were both out off. I’ve emailed this to manager saying we both decline to stay again and he hasn’t bothered to reply . I’d have at least thought we would have been a partial refund if not full refund .
I’d avoid that room don’t waste your money . Bar and bar staff great though .

We stayed for 3 nights, booked this hotel as it was a good deal and dog friendly. We arrived and there was no issue, checked in room was on the ground floor and spacious enough for us with the dog. Tbh the bedsheets were clean but and bed comfy but as others have stated I think overall cleanliness is questionable. A good wipe over with a duster wouldn’t go wrong. We ate outside on the first night and had a few drinks which was good, not the cheapest but food was edible, drinks maybe a bit expensive but it was a busy bar. On the Friday night things didn’t go so well, the outside area was busy and with everyone moved inside around 10pm it hit lively, we decided to head to our room, which was when I had zero sleep due to noise from guests having a get together in someone’s room and taking really loudly, this stopped around 2.15am for it to then kick off again around 4am for around an hour. When it was time to get up for breakfast I was so tired I missed breakfast. Saturday was even more eventful, we did eventually go to the reception to ask them to speak to the herd of elephants that had moved in upstairs!! At one point we thought the ceiling was coming in. When checking out a gent we hadn’t seen was on reception, asked how our stay was and reference we had been out and asked for someone to speak to the family upstairs, he was called us home, I commented saying “yes it wasn’t great” but that was it conversation ended. No apology nothing. Will I stay again probably not. They need more staff employed

We have just returned from our first night out for dinner in over a year to the Beaufort Hotel which WAS a wonderful family run hotel for years. Always received great food and service. This was not what happened tonight! We arrived and my friend was told there was no reservation despite the hotel phoning her back to confirm a week ago. She was then offered a table for 2 for the 4 of us which was much too small. We accepted a table in the bar as there was no other available table in the restaurant. The food was good, no complaints there, but the music was playing at a very high volume and we struggled to have a conversation. Eventually during desert I asked if the music could be turned down a bit. The waitress obliged and agreed it was very loud. We went to pay the bill but when we pointed out the table problem and the loud music, the Receptionist, his name is Ryan, became very defensive and said no one else thinks the music is loud and his was "the busiest bar in town". He advised he owned the bar, I said oh so the hotel has changed ownership? He then said no he leases the bar! He said they stopped taking Saturday bookings a month ago and my friend should not have been given a reservation! We asked for a discount off the £137 bill due to the mix up and being subjected to loud music in the bar when we had made a restaurant reservation. He was extremely rude and told us no discount and leave if we're not happy. Again telling us his is busiest bar in town. He started ranting about the price of chicken and supplies and how hard it is for hospitality. Very inappropriate to be raving at customers. Sadly he didn't ask us how our year had been!

My family and I stayed there for 3 nights. It wasn't a great start as our bedding needed to be changed as it looked like it wasnt after the previous guest. This was quickly addressed with offer of another room but unfortunately it was smaller and on the ground floor and with an open bar till 12, it was likely to get noisy. There was no staff to change the bedding immediately but was finally changed at 6pm which was fine. We ate at the hotel twice and both times, the food was good and service was good. I could not say the same about breakfast. Breakfast time was not sufficiently staffed and with one person trying to serve every one, orders were missed, and food on the first morning took 25 mins before it arrived! One morning, there was no sign of my husbands tea for about 15 mins by that time he got so frustrated and left. As with other reviews noise was an issue for us as well with creaky floorboards during the night while anyone moved on the top floor, we weren't able to get a decent nights sleep. Overall the staff at the bar, reception and during dinner were great but management needs to pay attention to the other points for improvement in the review.

No cleanliness (hairs in the toilet seat when we arrived and dirty tissues in drawers) despite claiming that they have extra cleanliness due to the Covid. Rooms are small and noisy (you could hear people walking upstairs at 6am! and we were travelling with a baby). I left a complain the same day on the check in and after the check out, they said that they would contact me and after trying to contact me via the travel agency they are now refusing to give us any refund! Very much dissapointed!
