James and Angela who own and operate Mardon Guest House made my introduction to Inverness and to to Scotland a wonderful experience. They both care about you having a great experience at their house, and in Inverness. It was a welcoming place to stay--clean, quiet, good food, and really close to "downtown"--City Centre (a 5 minute walk). 1. Welcoming James and Angela welcomed me when I arrived, and took the time to hear what my interests were for Inverness, and if I planned on using Inverness as a jumping off point to other cities. For example, some people travel to OR from Edinburgh. Every morning for breakfast, James briefly introduces all of the guests and where they are from who are eating in the dining area. That was a great jumping off point for having quality conversations with the guests from Italy, America, and Scotland. James would ask everyone how their prior day had been, and their experiences along with questions--which is really nice--considering he and Angela make and serve breakfast. When my cell phone was temporarily not working, James called me a taxi for taking me to-and-from the Jacobite Loch Ness boat tour, and he scheduled my taxi to take me to the airport upon my departure. 2. Clean and Spacious Rooms The rooms and bathrooms are clean, and James and Angela clean the rooms daily. My room had a king-sized bed (I think), a comforter with duvet, and multiple pillows for whatever your preference is (flat or fluffy). I slept well in the week I was in Inverness, which is cool during their summers. I cracked the window, and it kept the room cool, but not too cold. My room had a hot water pot for tea or coffee in the room. The bathroom has an electric shower, where you push the button for on or off---this was my first time using one of these, but I liked it. Also, the shower is big enough--I'm 6' 1"--where you do not have to wear the shower like a coat. 3. Breakfast Every day, breakfast is served at different times on the half hour, which you select based on your day's schedule. There are cereals, and yogurt daily in addition to your choice of eggs, bacon or sausage, black pudding, toast, beans, etc. It allowed me to go on day tours or tour the city without being hungry until lunch time (Noon - 2:00 pm). 4. Location The location is excellent. It is a 5-minute walk into the downtown. On your way, there is a Tesco grocery story, a coffee house ("Grain & Grind"), and it is on your way to the picking up point for some day tour companies. (an extra minute) Kenneth Street is lined with some guest houses, and you can head in either direction to enter into Inverness. One route takes you directly to a pedestrian bridge across the River Ness, and the other route takes you over the Grigg Street Bridge, which is where most pedestrians and cars use. Personally, at the end of a long day of a day tour or walking along the river, I liked the quick walk home to the quiet guest house. Staying with James and Angela at the Mardon Guest House was a peaceful place, and a great jumping off place for exploring Inverness, and going on day tours.

James and Angela were fantastic hosts with a vast knowledge of the area. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. The property was spotless. A 5 minute walk from city centre. Parking at rear of property can be tricky if you have a larger car to manoeuvre but is a great plus for convenience. Would recommend without hesitation.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The hosts/owners are probably some of the nicest and most caring people you will ever meet. Super clean rooms and great brekfast. Recommended if you are looking for a place to stay in Inverness. About a 5 minute walk into Inverness city-center.

Absolutely lovely accommodations. Breakfast in the morning was perfect for feeling full. Wonderful choices and made to eat as we were sitting in the room. Not buffet style for hot food which was such a nice touch. Room was tidy and truly clean. I highly recommend for a spot to use as homebase as you your the highlands. Very helpful and informative hosts.

I regularly stay at guest houses in Inverness when working in the area. I would definitely say this is one of the best. Hosts are excellent, very welcoming, the rooms are comfortable, spotlessly clean and breakfast is excellent. There is parking available and the centre of town is 5 minutes away. I will stay here again.

The place is simply great. Very comfortable room, big private bathroom, amazing breakfast prepared on demand. And the hosts, James and Angela, are super warm and attentive. Loved the way James introduced all guests at breakfast to each other encouraging conversation. I would love coming back!

James and Angela are lovely, welcoming people. Communication was excellent, and they were able to accommodate my late arrival. Location was perfect - an easy walk to downtown and all the shops, but none of the late night noise from the city. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options and a number of eating times available. Bed was comfortable, but the pillows were a little lumpy. En-suite was spacious. The room had everything needed to be comfortable.

Kind, friendly, warm, safe, and convenient. James and Angela waited up for my late plane. Breakfast was cooked to order and the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had. the room is cozy and surgically clean.

I recently spent 3 nights at the Mardon Guest House in Inverness, hosted by James and Angela. I received and incredibly warm welcome and shown to a great wee single room with en-suite bathroom. Nothing was too much trouble for James and Angel, who also went out of their way to explain all the good places to see/visit around Inverness. Breakfast was great, I had a vegetarian option. I would highly recommend this wee gem - it perfect! Perfect hosts and a perfect location.
