What this hotel lacks in way of comforts is someway made up for in the friendliness of the two Polish people who appear to be running the establishment. The room is extremely Spartan in nature. No chair on which to sit in the room, 4 coat hangers in a 2 single bedded room. No pictures on walls and no drinking glass in shower room. No heating other than a fan heater. Extremely basic and lacks the extra touches that would warrant the price of the room charge. All this could easily be sorted. Meal was very good and service was prompt, although restaurant, on the night, was not overly busy. In summary, there needs to be a review on what constitutes a single room as opposed to a double room. It is simply not the size but the amenities offered in a double room in relation to clothes hanging facilities, space within the room, etc, space for one chair is simply not enough and it is time for the proprietors to revaluate as soon as possible as to what constitutes a a single room as opposed to a double room. Minimum size is quit simply not an appropriate guide nowadays. Those days are, quite rightly, in the past. The owners can sort this out given the fact that they are extremely friendly and approachable. All said and done give it a try. Make up your own mind.

We chose the Inn because we were looking for an easy base to do daytrips w.our friends ( Loch Ness etc.), its situated a bit off the beaten track but we liked that bec. it was nice and quiet to sleep. The breakfirst is lovely and handmade by the host which did a lovely Whisky tasting for us at the bar on the premises as well. The rooms are newly renovated and big.U need to book the evening meals and the time for brekkies which was fine with us, the location has the charme of an old inn and the welcoming and caring hospitality of its host makes it so special, we d come again !

Stayed here for 2 nights on our Scotland road trip, we loved it.

The owner is very friendly and accommodating, was really apologetic for a couple of water stains on the recently decorated room.

Broken roof tile in the recent storms caused a leak, however we're not the type to nit pick things like this, hence the 5 star review, feel sorry for the guy, clearly a lot of money spent.

The bed had a super comfortable, soft, deep spring mattress with a mattress topper. This could put some off that are looking for a hard mattress, but we loved it.

The food was fantastic, being a rural location you won't be left needing to travel. Gluten free options available which was a pleasant surprise.

The bar is small and friendly, locals come in, we bought each other drinks, other guests joined us one night with their dogs, was just a really relaxing atmosphere.

Whilst we could perhaps complain the service was a little slow at times, you have to be respectful for the reasons, with Covid hitting the hospitality sector hard, the hotel is being run on skeleton staff.

For us it was part of the charm, some hotels you can be served by staff that have no interest in the service they offer, but as you deal with the owner himself that is super friendly and apologetic we walk away hoping nothing but the best for him and his business.

Would be a pleasure to stay here again if we find ourselves back in Inverness.

Most of the staff weren't wearing masks, nobody checked temperature, and there was no hand sanitiser.
The walls are very thin and we could literally hear the person in the room next to us wee.

We were woken up by loud people drunk in the halls, and then at 8am by loud music. The bed actually hurt our backs. We weren't supplied with new loo rolls. The "housekeeping" half made our bed, but didn't clean anything. The window in our room was broken and we couldn't open it at all.

WiFi didn't work at all so we couldn't really use the TV for Netflix or anything.the only positive was that the chef was very sweet and the breakfast was okay. I doubt we will be bake even for dinner.

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It’s on a nice quiet country road not too far out of town, the rooms we were in were newly renovated and really quiet. Beds very comfy, bathrooms really nice, setting was really peaceful and quiet.

Thing that really stood out as well was the staff. Everyone was so accommodating, friendly, welcoming and helpful. Food was great, was exactly what we needed and for the price you really can’t beat it. Great night sleep and great start to the days thanks so much.

After our recent visit, although there had been improvements since the change of ownership the experience was still poor enough for us to agree not to re-visit anytime soon.
The waiting times for everything was lengthy. We ended being there two and a half hours - and that was without a desert.
The window area was covered in a blanket of deceased flies which, while I appreciate it’s the summer period and there will be these pesky creatures, it only takes a second to dispose of them. Apart from that the place was clean and tidy and tables were promptly cleaned up ready for the next guest.
Our servers were wearing masks for those concerned about the use of masks, however there was no hand sanitiser to be seen so if you stop by, you might want to bring your own.
The macaroni was dry and lacked flavour, so unfortunately that was left uneaten. The rest of the food was ok, but not worth hyping it up. It was ok. Just ok. No more and no less.
They appeared to be short staffed which I appreciate that those working that night would have felt the stress of, however when we received the bill, I was disappointed at the price we were to pay for food and a service so average, if even that.
The server was polite and friendly although did seem a little harassed.
It wasn’t the worst place I’ve been to by far, but there’s definitely room for improvement.

Unfortunately, made an error of judgement and stayed at this establishment !
Note to myself .....NEVER stay at hotels that are pet friendly as pet hairs on bedding, is certainly not what I expect from ANY HOTEL !
Although the room surfaces were relatively clean, the hair covered, stained duvet cover left a lot to be desired , I felt the need to wrap the bath towel around the pillow ....
I suppose the £40 room rate speaks for itself, however a little more attention to detail would be beneficial !
It may help other travellers to note that the hotel staff are only in attendance between the hours of 16.00 to 21.00hrs.
Access to the hotel out with these hours is via a back fire exit door, which has an entry code key pad fitted !
Bookings for breakfast and dinner are required at the point of check in....I was pleased to have avoided this service, when I saw the standard of the accommodation.
I note that pets are however excluded from the dining area, which is only to be expected !

We have just returned from a fantastic 3 night honeymoon break at the Old North Inn.

From beginning to end we cannot fault the hotel one little bit. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The room was fantastic, bed ridiculously comfortable, gorgeous big windows looking out onto a field filled with sheep, shower was spot on and the tv with Netflix was a great added bonus!

We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, breakfast was always freshly cooked to order and brilliant quality! Always plenty of toast, juice, cereal, tea and coffee too.

The hotel is in a perfect location to explore the NC500 too, we made it as far as John o groats :-)

Fantastic Value for money, couple of little things in the room need updated. No shelf in shower for Gel, shampoo etc. Need a chair in the room as the bed is very very high and tying shoes is difficult. However overall impression is fantastic. The food is fantastic, a lot of burgers and Pizza on the menu. Other selections are excellent. The chef needs to be less pizza boy and more of a flare chef. He has the talent. This could be a destination restaurant. People would travel to eat here. However I live in London so too far for me. Can't tell you how good the food was. You could add £20 onto the ARR and would gladly pay. Well done to the owner. Pat on the back Sir.
