If the YHA movement is trying to squeeze in to the budget hotel market then this place is pretty bad. If you just expect a youth hostel then it is fine - good communal kitchen, reasonably close to the station and good cafe. We hired a private twin room - huge but very basic room and en-suite. Inverness is a...

This was our second to last stop on our LEJOG and although a bit hard to locate, it was amazingly organ sued, with the reception area full of people on their phones, laptops and iPads. There were three computers available for the free use by guests. The dorms were clean, bright, fresh linen. The bathrooms with decent hot showers, the...

I arrived at on time but the check-in desk was sill closed I was asked to wait two minuets while the staff had a conversation about laundry in front of me. After standing there 10 mins the conversation was completed and the check- in desk was duly opened, I was then brusquely asked to wait while some other people that...

This hostel is a first class hostel in an excellent location, for others like us who were cycling it was great that it had a locking shed for the bikes, the dorm we were in was a 4 bed dorm and as there was 3 of us we ended up having it t our selves. The only grip I had...

Really would advise you lok for somewhere else. Noisy and couldn't find security at night to complain. Not enough crockery. Had to wait for people to finish eating. Thought it was really expensive for what it was.

This hostel was the second hostel we stayed at during our tour of Scotland. It is basically a large old house that was converted into a hostel. The hostel has a small communal kitchen with refrigerators, a dining/break room, and a small lounge. It has free WiFi and coffee. The halls and rooms are a bit cramped, but the spaces...

Stayed in a 6 Person Private Room with an ensuite for one night. Not worth the price - toilet in ensuite wouldn't flush and staff wouldn't fix it. Felt very institutional. Rooms were clean. About a 15 minute walk into city centre. For the price you could easily stay in a nicer hotel with a better location. Also the wifi...

Imagine a prison and a low quality boarding school mixed. You've just imagined SYHA Inverness, a youth hostel devised and hosted by His telling Scotland. It boasts over 1,000 rooms and staying here feels like an existential nightmare. Good facilities. Boring.

Absolutely crap. 2 power points in a dorm for 6, only 1 worked. Wifi was ridiculously overpriced. Bunk beds were vandalised and the support for the top bunk was broken :| not worth the money at all, stay somewhere else.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Inverness Youth Hostel offers modern budget accommodation with superb facilities. The youth hostel also offers family friendly private en suite rooms, all of which are freshly decorated, warm and comfortable, with private lockers. Some rooms also have glorious views towards the Moray Firth. Inverness Youth Hostel offers meals but also has an excellent self-catering kitchen, making it popular with groups and families. The youth hostel has a warm welcome and buzzing atmosphere making it one of Scotland's top youth hostels in the capital of the Highlands. Wi-Fi during your stay: We do our best to deliver a free Wi-Fi service but apologise that connectivity, particularly in our rural locations, can be intermittent due to the level of our current broadband provision along with high usage when the youth hostel is busy. Please be assured we are endeavouring to improve where we can. We thank you for your patience and understanding. ... more   less
