We stayed 2 nights in our motorhome. Location superb as only a 20min walk into centre of Inverness. Park from outside looks rundown and the high fences make it seem as though you are heading into a prison.
Very disappointed to be told on arrival that showers and toilets only open between 8am-6pm. This was never communicated during the booking process. Luckily we have on board facilities that we could use.
When open the ladies shower was stone cold and the shower smelled of mould.
There was no provision of hand sanitiser throughout the site which was again disappointing given the COVID19 situation. During our 2 week break away this was the only site not to provide hand santiser.
Come on Torvean up your game.

Stayed here for two nights during a post lockdown tour of Scotland. All previous sites and subsequent ones had sanitizer and extra cleaning, with excellent results and facilities. This site was the opposite. Not only was it the most expensive, but it was the most lacking. Having an entire toilet block closed and the other tiny one (1 shower and 1 toilet in the Gents) only open, on a site of this size, during daylight was appalling. My wife wanted to leave after the first night, but being a Yorkshire man and as I'd already paid we stayed.
I get the feeling this is tacked on to the more successful motorhome hire business

A commercial site with the Caledonian Canal on one side, but commercial units on the other with quite a lot of road noise. We, and others, struggled to clearly define where our pitch boundaries where, resulting in some units being quite close together (one pitch requires you to park less than 2 metres from the motorhome grey waste and service point) . Pitches are pre allocated although the staff did allow us to move to a more suitable pitch on arrival. Grass was short and relatively mud free. There are pods which are also quite close to pitches on south side. A handy fast food bar sits at the entrance which delivers to your pitch if required. The 'dirty fries' were amazing, although my portion at £4 would probably have fed 3 people, so go there hungry! Nice walks from site all the way down towpaths to Dochgarroch Lock, and up into centre of Inverness.

When we made out booking we are positive there was nothing on their website to say toilets would be limited and certainly nothing on their email confirmation as we would not have booked. We particularly booked this site as had stayed previously and thought a smallish site with 2 toilet blocks. One toilet block open 8am -6pm. Only one shower and one toilet for men, 2 toilets and 1 shower for woman, cleaning was only done once in the morning. No extra cleaning done, nothing provided to sanitise as you go. People were queuing to use facilities, far higher risk of spreading covid. Small kitchen area with 2 sinks. Nothing to say only one family in at a time and we had to ask a gentleman to wait outside until we had finished, if they want to help stop the spread of covid they would be better to shut toilets completely and only accept self contained vehicles as this was a terrible experience, so bad we even left a day early as did not feel safe here

Response from Customer Services, Guest Services / Front Office at Torvean Caravan Park
Responded 1 Sept 2020
Thanks for taking the time to write a 'review' of your visit Susan. We are more than a little disappointed by your comments to say the least. We are all adapting to strange and difference circumstances at present and our team have put in a huge amount of work both behind the scenes and across the caravan park in preparation for opening of the site following Scottish government announcements in July and these measures were put in place for everyone's safety, including the well-being of our team. Many sites across the Highlands have not opened their shared facilities and are only taking bookings for self-contained vehicles. We also started with this set-up however we received such abusive comments for doing so, that we decided to open our shared facilities for restricted hours only and advise visitors to use their own self-contained facilities as much as possible. (also on our website). It would appear that we are damned if we do and damned if we don’t. That said however, we want to make it absolutely clear that we take the safety of our team and our guests very seriously and for anyone to say otherwise is absolutely unacceptable. To address a few of your other points: Toilet and facility opening times are on our website, Pitch up, the board outside and everyone who gets in touch about our facilities are notified of the situation. Everyone who visits our site should be well-aware of the current situation, therefore behave appropriately regarding and respecting social distancing. We are an extremely busy small site and it would certainly be very difficult for our team to constantly police grown-ups on how to behave when using and queuing to use facilities. There are sanitising stations located across the site and outside the toilets and laundry facilities. The toilets are checked every hour with door handles and taps regularly sanitised. We’re not sure why a male guest would be using the female facilities therefore this should have been reported to our team on site. We have received no reports of anyone feeling unsafe, quite the opposite, so very disappointed to read this in your review.

Just returned from NC500. This was first campsite we stayed. It was the most expensive and the worst one. Pitches too close. Did not sleep as despite being in a motorhome the man on next pitch was snoring. On the other side 2 large dogs barking. The worse thing was the dated shower block. 2 ladies toilets were not in use. The other 2 one had no toilet seat and the other had no lock on door. The showers were filthy together with a filthy mop and bucket. Rubbish discarded all over floor as bin was full.No one wore masks and this was not Covid alert. Needless to say we did not use the showers and were only on site 12 hours. The owners need to use the monies and sort the showerblock and toilet facilities out as these have not been updated for years. Too many people on site. Not enough facilities for the numbers. It's a shame as it was located well, next to a river but we did not stay and explore the area.

Me and my wife came to this campsite because we were doing the NC500, we gave it one star review because there wasn’t any lower options.

When we came to the park we got a very warm welcome from a young gentleman called Ryan, he was very friendly and helpful.

The toilets were nice and clean, for a campsite but there’s only 4 showers in the female and 2 showers in the males, and that’s meant for 50+ people?

The sanitary bins were overflowing and disgusting, I went to the campsite reception, and complained, I know that this is not a job for any member of staff, so they need to have something in place where they get emptied more often.

I came to do my washing, when I went to go over to buy tokens for the washing he only had 2 tokens, which is not enough when they have so many people in here that also have things they need to get washed.

When I finally got my 2 tokens I took my washing in the washing machine, they were in for 15/20 minutes before the cleaners in the park came and took my washing out, dumped it on top of the dryer, to put their own stuff in, I had to go back and get my clothes they were soaking, the cleaners were using the dryer and the washing machine, they left the campsite about 15 minutes after they took there washing in, so do they expect us to take their stuff out as well? Maybe fold it for them, and do their job for them?

This is the most bizarre campsite In Europe, they don’t have a system that works, and it’s the most expensive place in Europe for washing, when you can’t even do your washing. They have one washing machine and one dryer for 50+ people, which is not enough.

Not allowed any ballgames or cycling at the campsite. Which is what most kids do when their out, should be allowed, but a warning to be careful around the driveway, and around other caravans.

Also looked like they were short staff in the black box/campsite, The food was very delicious, but they need more staff. They need more toilets, showers, washing machines, dryers, etc.

I was speaking to a couple of people, and found out that there’s only one key for disable toilets.
There is no pitches marked for disabled people.

There is no baby changing rooms.

The drainpipes near the reception has a really unpleasant smell, and it makes you sick.
As I said earlier when speaking to other campers a few of them told me they had to move from pitch 31 because of the smell of the drains.
(NOT VERY HYGIENIC)

We will not be back, thank you!

Arrived mid July and welcomed at the gate by the staff.
Directed to the new reception area with covid protection messures in place, booked in and was shown our plot in the corner of the camp which is square and about the size of a football pitch.
We pre booked (advisable) the toilets were not open yet but should be in later July.
Our pitch was hard standing & fully serviced,
The staff were helpful and attentive and did check regularly with all things campsite.
We were thoroughly content with service.
Even the midges didn't show up as there not due till September we were told.
To summarise:
Friendly, helpful, well maintained and just outside the main hub of Inverness A joy to stay there.

Shower and toilets closed 6pm until 8am. Why? “COVID 19”. Yes, of course because....erm....the virus is more active at night isn’t it? When the facilities do open, they are a major disappointment. All toilet cubicles bar one are taped off, meaning one toilet for all the men on the site. How, exactly, is that hygienic and COVID-secure? The standard of cleanliness did not reflect the 14 hours they had given themselves to clean them. Making toilet and shower blocks covid secure consists of more than just going mad with yellow tape and closing half of them off - you need to actually make an effort. Reception is supposedly open until 8pm but we arrived at 7pm to find it closed, so never got the Wi-fi code or map of the site. We stayed at 8 sites during our tour of the Highlands and Western Isles and except for this one they were all lovely. This was easily the worst.

Hi, Do not book this site. There are no toilets or showers available after 6pm until 8am. Its in the name of Covid but the laundry and pot wash remain open and plenty of other campsites are keeping their facilities open and safe.
Save yourself the afro and book a better site

Visited this caravan site over the past couple of days and have to say it was a great location for us, we enjoy cycling and access to the towpaths alongside the Caledonian Canal is first class and the route is both easy and scenic. The caravan site itself though is pretty tired and could do with a bit of an upgrade especially the toilets. Now I know at the moment with the Covid crisis things are a little up in the air however that does not excuse what should be an extended cleaning regime. The toilet/shower area is small and cramped with cracked tiles and, to put it mildly, stained and smelly shower curtains. The pitches are a decent size however only 10amp power at each. As I say great location but in need of some TLC.
