Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Alexandra hotel is a great hotel close to everything in Fort William. There are limited car parks so this can pose a problem. Rooms were very good, and the breakfast OK. Terrible bar with a lot of wasted space. Looked like a tour bus hotel. Celeste on the front desk was exceptional and helpe4d us i9n many ways, as my wife is in a wheelchair.

The hotel is opposite the station.theres a underpass leading to a park by the hotel free parking at the hotel. Disabled access and facilities in the hotel. Management and staff couldn't have been more helpful. We had a excellent 1st floor room with shower. Nice bar and lounge. Despite the amount off people the meals were excellent served by really helpful staff different menu each night each as good as the day before. Breakfast was as good both hot and cold choices. Thanks to all and well done

Hotel was perfect went with a coach company. The only problem was no grab handles in showers and slippery floor in shower. Others complained about no grab handles over baths. Staff said they didn't have to have them.

Great location in the centre of town, also super close to the station. Short walk to Tescos, restaurants and shops. Nice hotel, very british old school hotel. The room was dated, paint peeling in room and some mould in bathroom. Bed was comfy. Great for a night. The room was very noisy from inconsiderate guests who like to talk out the front of other rooms or half way down the hall to their companion.

Comfortable hotel and very close to the train/bus station. Staff were very nice. I felt bad for them because the front desk seemed very understaffed at key check in and check out times. Only big complaint was that the rooms were very hot

Previously stayed at hotel year before, had a great time, rooms nice, good food, so recommended a friend to travel with us. Arrived opening the door to her room she was greeted with a mouldy smell, carpet was dirty and threadbare, bathroom leaked because of rusty pipework, pictures attached will bear this out, insult to injury there was a £125 single supplement. Went to reception very rude and unhelpful receptionist told me nothing could be done, wasn't getting moved, even though later we were told there was adequate room to have moved her, spoke to the manager and after 48 hours he gave his room up as agreed with us it wasn't really habitable. Later found out that hotel had been bought over. All previous years staff had left and replacements didn't have a clue, food wasn't good, and that evening my friend got a large paintbrush hair in her soup! This was a trip through Crusader coaches, who have been contacted, with no joy whatsoever. I have holidayed with them many times, but they aren't what they were. Disappointed doesn't cut it. Just avoid the place. But saving grace is the scenery, Highlands are beautiful.

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of a coach trip. Everywhere was clean but so so tired. It really needs some serious work. The room was a good size but curtains and carpets threadbare in places. The shower although not a power shower was good but again bathroom really tired. The plus point of the hotel was its location . Throughout the entire stay there was only 1 person behind the bar who did their best but struggled to serve everyone efficiently. The majority of the staff were sullen almost to the point of rudeness and not particularly helpful. It was obvious they were not happy which can only be the fault of the management . All in all would never stay here again

The hotel is geared for block party bookings. We had a booking for full board. The staff were surely, incompetent and, frankly, not interested in having anything but hostility with the guests. They did not want to be there which left us feeling, neither did we!

The beds were very comfortable but the room was extremely hot. Window only opened a little and no aircon or fan so difficult to sleep. Food generally good but why have Arctic Roll on the menu every night? Only one extremely small lift so think twice if you can`t manage stairs or use a wheelchair. The location is very convenient. Unfortunately there was a problem with the water while we were there so no hot water and then a couple of hours with no water at all. We had to contact Reception to ask what was happening.

We chose it for it's proximity to the train station. And that's about the only positive thing I can say. It's an average hotel at best but what stays with me are all the negatives. The curt and unfriendly front desk didn't improve my impression. The elevator is tiny and on our floor the carpet near it must have gotten wet at one point because it reeked of mold. The hallways had thick carpeting which made wheeling our luggage difficult. To make things worse were the heavy and narrow fire doors you have to open to get you your room. Our triple room was spacious at least but looked like it had been furnished in the 80's. At least our bathroom had been updated in sparkling white tile. We had breakfast on our first morning and the buffet was quite extensive but all the tables were reserved for the coach tours making it very noisy and crowded. We decided against repeating the experience. We had lunch and dinner at their restaurant. Lunch was cullen skink which was decent but the chicken curry we had for dinner was probably the worst food of our trip. We still talk about it. Two small positives: We were in the top floor and our window was a dormer that could swing open from the top to let in fresh air. There were complimentary shortbread cookies under the tv.
