The Cruachan is designed with a traditional Scottish Highland façade and whilst the hotel has been, continues to be, sympathetically upgraded and modernised internally to provide all modern comforts, it has not lost its original character. The hotel has an enviable location overlooking Loch Linnhe and beyond the loch to the Morvern Hills. Guests can sit on the terrace outside the hotel in the summer, watching the boats on the loch and enjoying a quiet drink.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a return stay from a couple of years ago, and what a disappointment!! On arrival, the room was freezing, bed was awful...clearly not been changed in years. Dinner downstairs was fairly expensive for what was less than average food, plus it was also beyond cold. We asked for a fire to be put on, to be told it was not working. Breakfast this morning had a below par selection, missing fresh fruit, more pastries, not even black pudding or haggis in the hot choices, even the milk for cuppas was pre packed! Milk for cereal should have been marked, we didnt have a clue what it was!

This hotel was one we paid more for on our NC500 route, however we paid less elsewhere and experienced better. The hotel itself is nice and from the car park there a great view. The room was also comfortable and bathroom was modern enough. It felt like the staff weren’t that happy to be there, particularly in the morning at breakfast. Breakfast was ok, but it is buffet. Not much quality to it, orange juice is cheap, eggs were hard on the top and sausages were poor, particularly the veggie ones. The staff could learn some more customer service skills. A disappointing stay.

Welcoming and friendly staff. Spotless. Great location. We are really happy that we booked this hotel and lucky to have been given a view of the loch. The food is good, the views are fabulous, the staff are all lovely and the room is spotlessly clean.

Booked a "Superior" twin room but the was nothing superior about it at all. Apart from having a walk-in shower it was a bulk standard small double room with 2 single beds in it. There was a sticker on the wall heater saying "please do not cover" but that was hard as the settings screen was quite bright, added to this with light shining through under the door it was like having a night light on all night. Next door was snoring all night & we may aswell had a triple room as it sounded like he was in with us. The room was advertised with a "lake view" & yes the lake was in sight, but it was between the hotel & the property nxt door at the other end of the carpark.......not exactly what i was expecting tbh! Its disappointing when you book (not to mention pay more for) a room & its not what your expecting.

Travelling Scotland for a few days from country estate’s to chain hotels and everything in between. What a find was nervous due to 3* rating but best breakfast and family room (basically a 2 bedroom apartment type room) on our whole trip at a fraction of other prices paid. A little gem and will be back if ever passing that way again

Wonderful experience. We were in Ft. William for a family funeral. From reception when we arrived to our check out everything was perfect. The obviously refurbished rooms are beautiful. Spotlessly clean. Excellent en suite and the most comfortable beds. 5⭐

Nice hotel, even though the pictures of the exterior is not of the whole hotel - just a small part. Rooms were very nice, with modern bathrooms. The breakfast held the British standard, nothing special. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would recommend!

First impressions. Very welcoming and well kept hotel. Staff very friendly and professional. Room, modern, spotlessly clean . Comfortable bedding. Bathroom modern and spotless. Rooms were serviced daily with clean towels, tea, coffee etc and shower gel. Meals in the bar were excellent quality. Freshly cooked and piping hot. Breakfast was a buffet style but food was piping hot. With good selection. Nice to see the chef constantly checking the food. Overall was a really nice experience. Would definitely recommend this place as its within easy walking distance to the town. Only negative was, and this sounds petty... was our room had a rather large stain on the floor in the corner of the carpet. Obviously had a leak previously. It was not damp, nor smelly it was just quite obvious. Still 5 star from us.

The hotel is about 15 to 20min walk from the bus station. My room was warm, clean and comfortable and had a nice view. Breakfast was lovely, plenty to choose from and staff were Friendly. I also appreciated that I could leave my bags at reception after checking out until my bus was due. I would definitely come back to the cruachan hotel.
