When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked in the Alexandra Hotel for coach trip. Two days before switched to Ben Nevis Hotel. Checked Trip Advisor reports bad - dirty, tiles falling off, no heating and more. Cancelled. Sent e mail with complaint requesting refund. No reply waited two weeks sent reminder. Response. Sender was going on holiday but would reply next week on her return, acceptable. Next week arrived plus another two no reply hence this report. The company clearly has let the hotel deteriorate and they have no customer service, not even replying to a complaint. Shall NEVER book a holiday with Strathmore Hotels again.

Hotel's Favourite
I have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel. Booking and journey was of the highest standard as was our driver Stuart who wad informative and pleasant. We were greater by a friendly member of staff who was very efficient to a coach full of tired people, keys and directions were given very quickly. My room was large and very clean , as suffer from dust allergy this is very important to me. Toilet was immaculate. The rest of the hotel was very clean. The pool was large enough and towels were supplied. The food was delicious ,varied and plentiful. The staff were great, always ready with a smile. I would definitely stay there again.

I want to rate it a bit higher my stay but I am in two minds right now. Check in, fast. No issues. Staff pleasant and informative. Room.... Bed, slept well considering the buzz from outside all night. Not sure if it was heating or air con. OK wait. Can't be heating as my radiator would not switch on. Shower alright. Toilet looked clean but smelt very bad of aged old urine. Nice smelling shower and hand gells. Fir a room it was alright for me . 2 nights stay. No ironing board but this time did not need one. Tea and coffe and kettle facilities all good. Nothing special about Nescafe though and them little uht milks. No fridge in room so that is fine. Room far from modern but was a bed and base for the 2 nights. Bar facilities.... none existing well, bar there 60 of stock on the bar. Everything I asked for that was on display was out of stock. Not good when you have a decent capacity of customers staying g iver and everyone is going out buying drinks etc etc into the hotel. Plus what I got was flat and rotten. Was going to eat in the hotel but we went elsewhere. Was not going to spend money in the van with nothing in stock... or was it out of stock.. ?? Instead of talking , talking amd more talking to your co workers maybe you could have check the stock in the cellar or contact someone to say....hey I am losing customers here. Anyway.. Breakfast... Scottish Breakfast are the best right ? Unfortunately not at this hotel. Bacon alright, black pudding, was asked if I wanted one or two slices... I asked for one... received half. Beans ... beans with are breakfast are beans right ? Nope.. stuck in the crucible. Now to my scrambled eggs... wow.. wow wow.. can I have some eggs with my scrambled eggs.. white, watery gunk!! Simple as..!! With a gallon of water on the plate. Sort thst out please.... please..!! You need to sort your prices out as well. With all respect, I would not get served in a one star hotel with my servers wearing trainers on at breakfast... would I stay again... I have to tbh. So we will see when I return. Prices in Fort William for everything is ridiculous though. The eggs have no yolk either ;)

Sent to our room to find the shower door hanging off ! Maintenance department could not repair it. Our next room had no heating so reception had to install an electric heater. The bar are was acceptable, but the restaurant food was poor. Staff were friendly enough. Ironically the services we had no chance to use looked very good … a big indoor pool in an attractive building plus a gymnasium WiFi system was weird and we didn’t master the 2 stage password complications. So all- in-all not a good choice of hotel.

Stayed here for two nights on a coach trip. Callem and Zoe on reception were helpful and friedly. Our room was clean and very cosy and water was always piping hot. The food was very good, if I had a complaint, the buffet breakfast could have been hotter, but the quality was very good. The waiting staff were very friedly and helpful, Used the pool and the changing rooms could do with an update, but they were clean. Did hear that the WIFI could be patchy but worked fine in our room. Special mention to our lovely driver Ross.

I recently stayed at the Ben Nevis Hotel and Leisure Club from September 29th to October 1st, booking three rooms. Unfortunately, my overall experience was quite disappointing. All three rooms exhibited various issues including mould, dampness, and a pervasive musty odor. One of the rooms had no heating, which made the stay uncomfortable. Dust was prevalent throughout, even on the walls. The roller blinds were broken, and there was mould in the bathroom, with no ventilation to alleviate the issue. Furthermore, there was an excessive amount of dust and debris in the bathroom extractor fan, which also did not function properly. The carpets in the rooms were stained and damaged, giving the impression of poor cleanliness. The restaurant experience was also subpar, with dirty plates and cutlery. Many bulbs were missing from the lamps, and the TV remote was broken and hastily taped together as a makeshift solution. Additionally, the rooms were noisy, and corridor doors were challenging to open. Lastly, I observed poor external wall conditions, which raised concerns about the overall maintenance of the property. This experience was far from what I expected from a hotel of this caliber, and I hope that these issues can be addressed to enhance future guests' stays.

Old, out of date. Electrical need to be brought up to code. Three lamps in room, only one outlet worked. Room was dark and dismal. Luggage has to be taken up two and a half sets of stairs. Towel hooks missing in bath, how long has it been since you had three twin beds in a room? Obviously something strange happened in the remodel 50 or 60 years ago. Breakfast was poor at best. Table cloth too small for tables, coffee station actually had table cloth thrown over the top to show out of order. one of the staff was actually mixing instant coffee for dinners. No measuring just mixing. Fruit was substandard and canned. Croissants were small and stale. A couple of staff trying their best. One of the kitchen staff was the bellman!

Old and nasty hotel!!! Most of the lights did not work in our room. The towel racks were all broken. No place to put anything. Breakfast was awful with instant coffee, old, cold croissants, canned fruit.

Stayed here with a small coach party. Had asked for ground floor room due to age and mobility issues, was allocated a 2nd floor room a long walk outside from the main building, eventually given a ground floor room in that same building (a very long walk to go for meals). Room was very small and t.v. wasn't working. Reported to reception - "we'll get it fixed". It took over 24 hours for this to happen. The only good thing about this hotel were the evening meals - the breakfast not so good, no cutlery, no plates, scrambled egg empty, no bread for toast and certainly surfaces were not wiped down when anything spilled. There also appeared to be a leak in the kitchen - could see towels and a bucket on the floor and what appeared to be water dripping from the ceiling. Would never stay here again.

Currently staying here on business for 6 nights and on night 4. Absolutely the worst hotel I’ve have stayed at, bathroom is full of mould, light switch doesn’t work so in complete darkness. Once in a blue moon turns on but then won’t turn off till at least the next day. Reported this twice and nothing done about it. The shower is either freezing cold or dangerously hot- again reported this and still nothing done. I wouldn’t bring young or older people here for fear of being burnt and unable to get out the shower. The bedroom is seriously outdated, no heating, dirty and stinks. The hall stinks of mould or damp. The staff are very inexperienced, not their fault but clearly not trained to deal with their jobs. The tills haven’t been working all week so having to write down every order and add up the bill via calculators. The manager tonight was very apologetic and offered to move me rooms finally. Great of him to do so and even offered a complimentary drink. He has just heard of and dealt with the situation which is how it should be done. Why couldn’t this have been done the previous three times I raised these issues with over reception staff? All in all- Avoid.
