Stayed over for 1 night at this hotel and I was a bit sceptical after reading some mixed reviews, however I have to say we had a great night here. We checked in on the 9th of October 2020 and was met at reception by a very nice lady who explain the new COVID updates, we booked our time slot for dinner and headed to our room.
We stayed in room 1 which was lovely, very clean and spacious, there were 2 rooms separated by a door which was great as my 13 year old daughter had her own privacy as did we. Dinner was lovely and a decent selection was available, due to the new COVID regulations no alcohol was available and no hanging around in the restaurant so we headed back to our room and enjoyed a chilled night, breakfast the next morning was fabulous and set us up nicely for our trip to Skye to see the fairy pools, the gentleman serving breakfast was very attentive, the breakfast menu was great and they made it very easy to make your own Scottish breakfast, my daughter opted for pancakes which she said were delicious, although this was the most expensive place we stayed over our trip, I don't have any complaints .

A hotel in a good location for sightseeing in Skye, or to Plockton, Lochcarron, Shieldaig etc.

It's not a fancy hotel, but it doesn't claim to be and yet, it offers a reasonable stay for the money. The single rooms are tiny, the double rooms a bit better however they all seem to be along a lengthy corridor with thin walls and doors which bang shut. Internet wifi worked well. Shower was tiny but at least the water was hot.

The bar staff are very friendly and they have a decent stocked bar, albeit with too many English beers on tap rather than Scottish ones....why on earth would you go to the north-west of Scotland to get Carling Black Label or whatever on tap? A bit of shame that the craft beers from Skye are not on tap instead.

No outdoor sitting area, but the bar has a decent atmosphere.

Breakfast had a fair number of choices, whether continental style or cooked Brit style breakfast.

Parking was no issue as the hotel has a private carpark at the rear of the building.

If you don't want to eat at the hotel, there are two fish n' chips takeaways in close proximity (the one down by the harbour is great). as well as other cafes and a Chinese takeaway just 50 yards up the street.

Would I stay again? Yes, I would. With the amount it cost, I didn't expect nor receive the treatment or facilities of the Ritz-Carlton, the Mandarin-Oriental or the Peninsula, but I thought it was fairly good value for money. No problem with that.

The Kyle Hotel was more like a Travel Lodge for Bikers. It was full of Bikers. The corridoor from the rear car park is very narrow and when we had arrived lots of foreign bikers had arrived and it was a struggle to get to reception. The decor was very basic and the bar was not like a Hotel lounge more like a cafe bar certainly not worth the price we were charged. During our trip around Scotland we stayed in some brilliant places at almost half the price of the Kyle Hotel. Also there were no views from our room just a wall. The evening meal was also disappointing. They had sold out of quite a few of the main items i.e. fish platter, steak etc.and the beef pie was tough and stringy with not much beef or flavour! Breakfast was much better. On the positive side the waiting staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful even though they were very tired as short of staff. Glad we were only there for one night and feel it is extremely over priced for what it is!

We made this booking through booking.com which told us this hotel was dog friendly which was the reason we booked it. On arrival the receptionist abruptly told us that actually the rooms that we have booked are not dog friendly and that although it states on their website that it is in fact dog friendly dogs are not allowed anywhere in the hotel. This was rather strange however reluctantly the miserable receptionist did not turn as away as we had already paid. On entering the room you could see that this hotel hadn’t been touched since it was first bought. Although the room itself was clean you could see that there was a lot that needed to be done. The tiles in the bathroom were falling apart as you stood on them, the shower was so awful with the rusty stands and the filthy sealant however this did distract you from the fact there is no water pressure.
This was meant to be a relaxed evening where we could catch up on sleep and have a proper wash however after staying here I can tell you that you’ll get a better night sleep in a tent and a better wash in a river than in that shower.

This was our fave hotel of the trip. The parking was plentiful and there was access to the room so you didn’t have to lug all the bags down to reception. The room was lovely - we asked for a twin and they didn’t have one available so we ended up in a family room. 2 separate bedrooms, which was luxury. The bathroom was really nice and the place was super clean. I had a really good sleep here. The staff were really nice and the breakfast was delicious. It’s also a great location if you’re visiting Skye - couple of mins drive to the bridge!

Worst hotel experience I've ever had.

The room was cramped, incredibly dated, and not particularly clean. We weren't even given mugs to make ourselves a hot drink, but two disposable to-go cups. The bed was uncomfortable and right next to the door, and there was no air conditioning.

What a poor night's sleep. The hotel itself was so poorly soundproofed, every time someone else on the corridor walked past the room, opened or closed a door, had a shower or even moved, I woke up. You can hear EVERYTHING.

The bathroom was cramped and just like a shower you get in a static caravan. In fact I refused to shower because the shower itself was so small I couldn't have turned around in there, and it wasn't even particularly clean.

The so called restaurant was a room with no atmosphere with a few tables all very close to each other, no chance of social distancing in there. Next to me a gentleman picked out a foreign object from his pie and asked what it was, the dinner staff avoided answering. I opted for the macaroni cheese and was presented with a bowl of grease (I'm fairly sure it was a ready meal or tin, microwaved) some chips, and a small side salad consisting mainly of onion. My boyfriend ordered a burger, the menu said it came with a brioche bun but the bun was a cheap floury bap. The dinner staff stood 5 feet away from us talking about their tattoos, weekends and upcoming birthday parties while we ate which was off-putting and very distracting. Two meals (one of which was inedible) and two cans of drink came to £30!

Breakfast was equally bad, food was very cheap. For £145/night I really expected more. I was given a dirty mug for my tea and had to specifically request a clean one. I opted for the pancakes, they told me they had maple syrup but they gave me what was defo not maple syrup - it tasted like strawberry ice cream sauce! By this point I was ready to leave and wanted to get the hell out of there so I didn't see any point in complaining.

What I would say is that the polite and helpful young man who was working in the restaurant on evening of 8th / morning of 9th July 21 is clearly the hardest working member of staff. He was run off his feet while his colleagues stood around chatting. He is an asset to the hotel.

I see this is one of two hotels in Kyle, so it can afford to be substandard. I appreciate that with this hotel you're paying for the location, but this is simply not worth it.

As mentioned in title. Reception staff were slow to check us in and seemed rather confused, plus this hotel has definetly seen better days. On top of that, our room was unbearably hot overnight and very very cramped, which gave me and my partner a strong claustrophobic feeling! Would not recommend staying there.

Stayed here for a couple of nights at very short notice in a superior room. The room was freshly refurbished and well furnished with a large bathroom and fantastic power shower. Nice touches such as white company toiletries, plenty of tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water were provided. The housekeeping standards were excellent - room spotless and corridors immaculate.
The hotel staff were pleasant and very helpful. Dinner and breakfast good quality. We had a family emergency and had to leave urgently before ordering dinner. The staff were fantastic and let us telephone in an order later and prepared food which they kept warm for our return, even though the restaurant had closed.

This hotel is part of the Bespoke Hotel group.

A very friendly and comfortable clean hotel which aspires to punch above it’s 3 star rating.
All the staff are very attentive and the dining room service must be the quickest in the west!
The tariff is very reasonable and it’s a good stopping point for any journey.
I’m especially impressed with their in-house COVID regime, which is now unfortunately a consideration for us all when booking accommodation. Well done Maggie and all members of staff.

I’m shocked they had the cheek to charge £130 for the room we stayed in. The place is dated, there were rusty bathroom accessories, the beds were uncomfortable and we received a lovely 1 packet of biscuits to share between the two of us, to use with our plastic cups for our hot drinks, how generous! The noise in the hallway carries into the room, such as squeaky floor boards. It made us feel on edge every time someone walked past as it sounded like they were in the room with us. It sounded like the waters flushed to outside our window as it sounded like there was constantly someone showering and the extra water was flowing outside our window. This noise mixed with the constant sound of the toilet filling back up was a great extra touch. The breakfast was basic and Luke warm. Service was okay but the guy was very arrogant and spoke over the girl serving us. When I asked what flavour gin they had, the reply was Gordon’s or Bombay sapphire. Both very popular unflavoured gins. It was clear the service was different depending on the customer, as the couple next to us were treated a lot friendlier than we were and the lady behind us was served after us yet received her meal swiftly. We stayed here at the end of our NC500 trip, so had stayed in numerous hotels/B&B’s and this was by far the most expensive yet worst location. I would recommend saving your money and going elsewhere that is better value for money.
