Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the best B&B experiences ever! Our hostess was welcoming, kind and knowledgable about the area. Our room was super comfortable, featuring a lovely sitting area, outside patio, with a large newer bathroom with rain shower. I would be remiss if I didn't go into detail about breakfast - absolutely delicious. Liz went out of her way to make sure our vegan friends were well taken care of. We will be back. Thank you Liz!!

Our second visit to Sandown House and just as wonderful as the first visit two years ago. This bed and breakfast is superbly run and offers luxurious accommodation and facilities plus a breakfast to die for. A must visit if you are looking for a place to stay in the Nairn area - great location near to the beach but within walking distance of the restaurants and bars. We are making it an annual visit.

Liz and Andy were gracious hosts to our group of golfing husbands and sightseeing wives. The rooms were all lovely and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. Liz gave great attention to details specific to our group such as assisting with dinner reservations and providing local knowledge and recommendations about the area. The Sandown shortbread is the best!

We began a 3 week 2 country golfing trip with a 3 night stay at Sandown house. It was amazing! As golf book author Tom Coyne pointed out in his book "A Course Called Scotland", "Liz, was a traveling golfers angel". Our room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had an upper level room with a small balcony. There is a small refrigerator in the room. Tea and coffee making supplies.( French press and instant). Fresh shortbread cookies (biscuits) were an added bonus! We looked forward to starting each day with a fabulous, fresh cooked made to order breakfast. The menu choices were very extensive. From a full scottish breakfast to porridge with a little added drizzle of Glen Moray scotch. Sandown House is within walking distance to the beaches . A short drive to many wonderful golf courses in the area, Narin, Royal Dornoch and Moray to name few. This was by far our favorite place to stay over our 3 week adventure.

A very nice property in a quite spot. The room we stayed in was a ground floor double which was very comfortable and large enough to have a sofa and armchair as well as a very large double bed. The breakfast selection, all served to your table was incredible and Liz very flexible and would mix and match as you needed. Liz was also very helpful in advising on things to do, walks, restaurants etc. Nairn is a pretty seaside town with a nice beach. The walk from Sandown House to the harbour is around 40 minutes and is a pleasant walk mostly along the seafront. There a quite a few restaurants, bars and cafes and we ate in The Sun Dancer which has excellent views over the Moray Firth and Cafe One One Two in the town centre. The food and service in both restaurants was very good. Definitely 5 stars.

We absolutely loved our stay at Sandown House and would highly recommend. We stayed as a family of four (2 year old and seven week old)and the room was perfect for what we needed, allowing us all to have a great night. We enjoyed the deep bath and walk-in shower with good amount of pressure and perfect temperature to get your day started. Luxury amenities were a real treat from Highland Soap Co. Get ready for an incredible breakfast - we chose to have salmon and scrambled egg - cooked to perfection and the homemade soda bread is just to die for. Not to mention homemade granola which was the best I have ever tried, only downside is that I forgot to get the recipe. However we will be back without a doubt. Our two year daughter Sienna hasn’t stopped talking about Liz since we left. Thank you for going out of your way for our family - see you again soon.

If you are looking for the most fabulous Highland hospitality , a fabulous bed and breakfast with modern large rooms then this is the place for you. Perfectly located for our golf trip to Nairn , Andy and Liz (let us not forget Babs) were sensational hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were gorgeous (black pudding from Stornaway) and set us up for our day ahead. I could not recommend Sandown House more highly.

I stayed at Sandown House for 2 nights with my 19 year old daughter and elderly parents and we were all in awe at the incredibly high standards of everything at Sandown House - we couldn't fault a thing. Liz and Andy are so friendly and welcoming and they cannot do enough for you. They are masters of the trade and obviously love what they do which makes for an exceptional guest experience. The wonderfully spacious rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished to the highest of standards and everything is spotlessly clean. We really appreciated the thoughtful little touches like homemade shortbread and fresh milk along with a selection of teas, coffees and hot chocolate; the fresh flowers at breakfast and real orchids in the rooms; the Highland Soap Company toiletries; the heated bathroom mirror; a card for my mum and dad's anniversary; the sausage bap each morning for my daughter; the outdoor seating areas, including the swing; the paintings and pictures of local scenery. Breakfast was fantastic! A huge choice, all freshly cooked to order and served piping hot. You do not go out of there hungry!! A lovely, peaceful environment to start the day with relaxing music playing a and a chat with Liz while watching Andy in the kitchen doing the cooking. They make it all look effortless. Everything at Sandown House lives up to the 5 star status. It's incredibly difficult to get those 5 stars and keep them but they are well deserved. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sandown House and look forward to our next visit (hopefully soon). Thanks again Liz and Andy. Xx
