Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was really looking forward to staying here during our trip out to the Speyside region of Scotland for some whiskey tasting and a food & drink festival. We reserved this place specifically so we could walk to the town hall for tasting and not have to drive or hire a car. When we arrived for check in, I was told that my reservation been cancelled due to the caretaker having Covid. However, I never received any communication. It also looks like there was a for sale sign on the property. Just unfortunate.

This is the first time I've done anything like this as I'm truly a Luddite as far as this Internet thingy is. BUT Isabel is a true gem. The salt of the earth type who goes the extra mile to help. I was well over 2 hours late checking in due to a RTA on the road north....Absolutely no problem I'd left home minus charger for my mobile...Absolutely no problem, I'll find one for you. Add to this an upgraded room at no extra charge , a splendid cooked breakfast and a friendly smile. Faultless

Isabell is your Hostess, and what a delightful place to stay. Scrupulously clean, well appointed, cozy, quiet, within easy walking distance to Elgin main area, this is definitely worth a visit. Excellent value. Breakfasts delicious and substantial. We stayed in family room 1 on second floor, and the queen/king bed was THE most comfortable of the 6 places we stayed while on this trip. Easy to find if driving yourself. Located on a one way street that is a wee bit narrow, but certainly not a show stopper. Plenty of guest parking in back of property. Easy drive to Speyside attractions too, 20 minutes tops. Hot water for shower took a minute to get going, but just fine once it kicked in. Good WiFi. Definitely a “stay again” for us!

Nice little B&B in Elgin. The location is good. Silent street but near to city center and train station. Room was sufficient and clean. Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fresh prepared and we did enjoy it a lot.

Husband and I stayed two nights on bed and breakfast basis. Very friendly and welcoming. Our room was on the bottom floor, which was ideal for us and a great help to us both. We have stayed here before and will certainly go back again whenever we are in Elgin to visit our family.

We have just returned home after a one night stay at Southbank Guest House. I am recovering from a broken leg and Isobel was most accommodating to my needs giving us a lovely room on the ground floor ideal for anyone with mobile disabilities. Spotlessly clean ,comfy beds and cosy with a good breakfast in the morning. We did not venture out due to my incapacity but it is very central for all aminities in the town. Would stay again.

Just back from a weekend in Elgin. Stayed here for 3 nights with no issues. Great hotel and even better price. Breakfast was always good and the rooms were well kept, clean and very spacious. Isobel was lovely and very helpful with recommending where to walk for an evening meal/glass of wine. The room and ensuite were spotless and fresh. We had a family room. Breakfast was delicious-a full Scottish along with choices of cereals, yoghurts and fresh fruit and plenty of toast. Really set us up for the day. We're looking forward to staying next time we visit.
