We booked this weekend break very last minute (in fact on the Friday), the autumn special break was unbelievable value for money. On arrival we were warmly greeted and checked in ,booked at time slot for dinner and breakfast (due to the COVID virus), and given directions to our room . The room was large , warm and very clean. Lovely comfortable super king bed , the shower room was compact but perfectly adequate and most importantly the water hot . Tea and coffee supplies were a little bit limited but just asked for more and they were supplied.
We were given a form to fill in to request additional items of housekeeping towels etc due to the chambermaids not entering the room throughout our stay a welcome and thoughtful idea.
Our Autumn break included a £20.00 per person per night allowance for dinner and a bottle of wine, on the Friday evening we chose the steak night menu which was excellent we did have to eat outside due to the rules on eating and drinking but that was not a problem, Steaks were perfectly cooked and the accompaniments hot all in all a great meal. The house red wine was very drinkable!!
After a great nights sleep we went for breakfast a lovely freshly cooked feast! Set us up for the day !
Unfortunately the weather was not very kind to us but it is autumn after all so we made the best of it and had drive round the local area .
Dinner on Saturday evening was had indoors due to the wet and windy weather , again the food was excellent, tasty, hot and plenty of it! Again the house white wine was very drinkable, even if we did have to go outside to enjoy it.
The hotel seemed busy and the staff were all cheerful and helpful.
After another good nights sleep breakfast again was freshly cooked to order and served by a cheerful young lady.
On checkout the extras bill (we paid for the autumn deal in full on booking) was very clear and easily understood.
All in all a great weekend break , fantastic service, wonderful food and lovely comfortable bed.
Will we return? Most definitely .
Thank you.

We went up to Pitlochry on the 7th of August and were booked into the McKays Htel, there were 6 of us, in 3 rooms. It is very central, right on the Main Street. It has a parking area, although it was busy. There is a street next to it and you can use that if you don't get into in the hotel parking. The hotel itself is very clean. Sanitising stations for your hands , panels up and staff wearing masks, in most situations, as you would expect today. The hotel is being refurbished, the front rooms had something of the Premier Inn colour scheme going on. Ours was further into the hotel (112). It had a more dated wallpaper and colour scheme, which we were quite happy with. The room was a good size, king size bed, wardrobe, tv, everything you would expect. Really nice toilet and shower with good complimentary soap and shower gels. Our room was the biggest of the 3, the other 2 were upstairs. You are given a form asking what services you would like, towel changes, toilet rolls etc, being more environmentally aware. My wife hadn't requested a hair drier, but it was quickly dealt with. The hotel has a pleasant bar area, with some outside seating. The breakfast was very good. Most of us ordered variations on the menu and it wasn't a problem. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the standard we found in the hotel, presentation and cleanliness was great. We will use again if we are staying in the area and are happy to recommend the hotel.

We decided some time ago that it didn’t matter if the travel arrangements changed, we’d stay at home this year.
We booked 4nights in this hotel for both of us and our 5 year old granddaughter a couple of months back and were really looking forward to our stay.
We were given a room in the annexe above Cafe Scotia room 303, which consisted of two bedrooms and a bathroom with free wi-fi. The room was perfectly adequate but bore no relation to the pictures on the hotel website or the picture on the hotel app.
Although adequate, I personally thought the room could have been cleaner. There was a thick layer of dust around a ledge in the bathroom and I felt the doors and handles could have been cleaner, especially given the supposed extra Covid cleaning.
Having said this, we bought a packet of Dettol wipes and went over the handles, ledges and surfaces ourselves and we were good to go.
We couldn’t fault the hotel in any other way, we paid bed & breakfast and really thought the price paid was excellent value for money. We had lots of choice and enjoyed breakfast each day. The breakfast staff deserve a special mention as they couldn’t do enough for you and even managed to get our granddaughter to eat “ tattle scones” each morning, eventually getting up to three each day.
We ate dinner in the hotel on 2 nights and again couldn’t fault the choice, service or price. The 15% off food for residents is an excellent touch.
The hotel offers free car parking but it was a bit of a lottery as the car park is small. We parked on Monday, took the car out on Wednesday and struggled to get a space again.
The weather was fantastic which helped, but we did enjoy staying here and would definitely return, although next time I would like to be in the main hotel.
I would recommend this hotel for it’s price, location and excellent service and definitely want to return.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and the reception we received on arrival was first class, lovely lady on reception. We were given the key to the first room at top of stairs that everyone else would have to pass and we were concerned it might be noisy, it wasn't. Room was nice and warm and very comfortable with tea and coffee etc provided. Large Shower in large bathroom was excellent with lots of hot water and plenty of pressure. Comfortable bar and dining areas, good selection of quality food available as well as a chippy attached to the hotel, very unique and excellent fish and chips. We had breakfast included and it was excellent. Well positioned in the centre of Pitlochry and we will be back.

Have just spent 4 nights at Mckays Hotel in Pitlochry. Had a lovely time and the location of the hotel is ideal. Overall, the friendliness of all the staff was great - nothing was a bother to them and had time for a friendly chat while maintaining their efficiency! The cleanliness was amazing and again, due to current restrictions, nothing was a bother if you needed clean towels, supplies for your room as staff do not go into your room during your stay. The breakfast was served to you again due to current restrictions but there was a great choice of food and portion size. My husband had the Big Mckay every morning and would recommend that. Thank you for a great stay!

Dog friendly, excellent background music.... most staff helpful. Breakfast very nice, evening menu limited. Room clean and very comfy, ensuite bathroom - basin ridiculously small, shower opening blocked access to anyone else using the bathroom at the same time.

Pitlochry was very busy when I arrived, much busier than I had expected. The receptionist was very welcoming and she arranged for me to have a room with my two dogs. I accept that not everybody welcomes dogs so I was happy to be located away from the main hotel in their annex above the Italian restaurant. The room was small but it was OK and let's face it I wasn't paying very much for it. The shower made up for it though. It was a gloriously hot shower just the sort of shower you would need after a day on the hills. The hotel and restaurant staff were wonderful. I would have been able to eat inside but chose to eat outside and I always asked those closest if they were OK with the dogs. They always were. The food was served well cooked and it was a bonus to try food that I would not normally cook myself. All the staff seemed to be authentically happy and this made for a really nice experience.

We have stayed here before and booked several months in advance, however on arrival were told that we were in the section of the hotel which was across the street. The room and bathroom were very small and as we were there for three days I asked to be moved into the main hotel. There were no available rooms, but on speaking with Lynsey, she offered us atholl cottage which was very spacious and had everything we could have needed. Lynsey was extremely helpful and accommodating and is an asset to the hotel. She always chatted when we saw her and was so friendly.
We ate at the hotel the first night and the food was really nice.
Breakfast was nice enough but have had better. I commented that the two mushrooms on the first morning was a bit ungenerous only to be given one the next morning.
I would suggest that when booking, you check you’re in the main hotel as the annexe across the street isn’t great at all.

We booked a superior room that wasn't really superior, it was at the top of the stairs that the rest of the residents had to walk past and was really noisy with residents and people outside of the hotel. The menu in the room was completely different to the one in the restaurant and there wasn't much choice. Breakfast on the second morning was slow going with only 1 person serving.

Booked a night at this hotel through their website, as it seemed to have a few "perks" for doing it that way, instead of other booking websites. Main thinking was for 15% of meals, which may not have been working as we were staying on an "eat out, to help out day", which made the overpriced bar food a better buy, the 2 glasses of wine with dinner, which didnt come, we didnt ask at the table as we didnt want to sound like we were begging.
And the upgraded room, if they had the spare room, which understandably they cant supply all of the time, but my thinking was that booking through the hotels website, at least we would get a decent room. How wrong was i.
Room 111, if you are unlucky to be allocated it, turn it down fast, preferably as s oon as you get the confirmation. Its window looks out onto the flat roof of the kitchen, with the vents for the fans, which run from, in our case 06:15hrs until 21:30hrs, you need to keep the windows closed because of the noise and cooking smells. When i complained i found out that they were fully booked and couldnt move me, we got an electric fan and refunded our bottle of bubbly, which they didnt say until leaving.
Also the shower is a bit poor, screen door doesnt shut properly, the shower head is the wrong size for the holder so it just dangles there not pointing to your body.
Apart from that the bed is comfy and room was very clean.
I have marked this as 3 dots, as the staff were great, food even though just bar food, was hot and quickly prepared, and breakfast was fantastic.
