Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Comfortable, spacious room with plenty electric sockets and good lighting. Bathroom modern with toiletries supplied. Instructions for working shower would have been useful. Had breakfast and dinner. Adequate choice and well presented. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend for a good value family run hotel.

Hello. How gratifying to read that you had such a nice stay and that you appreciated the attention of our excellent team of staff and enjoyed your meals. We note your point about instructions for operating the shower, but wonder which shower this was. It's difficult to identify reviewers on this particular platform, which sometimes makes remedial action a bit tricky. The principle is noted, however. We hope you'll visit us again some time and wish you a plesant and cosy Winter.

We were there for the enchanted forest and stayed the night. Nice quaint place, staff was excellent and food was really good local quality. Hotel room slightly dated and would be good to have some up to date things like USB plugs, bigger TV. Water pressure was not great and struggled for shower in morning due to this but overall we had dinner bed and breakfast and enjoyed our stay.

Thank you so much for sharing your review. We are delighted to note that you enjoyed your stay, on the whole. Your points about water pressure, tvs and usb points have been useful. However, because we are unable to identify you from your review, it would be great to know the room you stayed in, as many rooms have these features already. There is a progressive programme of upgrades at hand and reviews always dictate priorities as these matters cannot be resolved instantaneously. It's great to know that you enjoyed your meals and your stay, in general. We hope to see you again.

A small, fine hotel in Pitlochry. Not completely new anymore, but with a lot of charm. We had everything we needed. The hotel is a little quieter, higher up on the slope. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the city center. The employees are very friendly. We were warmly welcomed. There were tips on the evening program and a quick beer at the in-house bar. A special table was set for breakfast for our group of 6 people. Thanks for that. This is not a given. The breakfast was very good.

The good bits - nice tucked-away location away from main roads, good choice at breakfast (have to book what you want online the day before), pleasant staff at breakfast (although they appeared very short staffed), good shower. The not so good: room was clean but shabby, noise insulation was poor (we could hear every footstep thudding in the room above), we found the bed extremely soft and uncomfortable. Difficult to describe but in our opinion the whole place had a very old-fashioned, dingy air about it, including lots of brown decor which we found quite depressing. Worst of all was the Receptionist, who must have been having two bad days - the day we arrived and the day we left: she was brusque and unwelcoming to the point of rudeness. We were glad to leave and wouldn’t return.

Hello and thank you for providing information about your stay, even though it has caused us deep conern. I regret to think that one of our guests has had an unusually unpleasant experience with us. Naturally, as soon as we receive the slightest negative comment, we jump on to the matter immediately, to try and resolve matters, at least for future guests if we cannot undo the harm done in the case of the reviewer. Our first point of action is to identify the reviewer so that we can pinpoint the room or service point of concern. We have looked for clues in your review, such as searching for similarity of name and guests coming from Bedford and can find nothing. Furthermore, your comment about staff at breakfast has thrown us further off track, as our Receptionist serves at breakfast too. I can only apologise if you recieved a brusque approach from her. This is totally out of character, as a substantial number of other reviews will attest. As for brown decor, we simply don't have it. Our rooms are colourfuly painted - a situation I sometimes ponder about, since a certain perceived wisdom has it that hotels should be decorated in neutral tones. If you stayed last weekend, then there was a brutal storm, which stole all light from the day and would have made most places seem dingy, I suppose. Nontheless, we have taken every word on board and will use the coming quiet months to work on our 3 ground floor rooms to brighten them. We could at least work out that it was this section of the hotel that you stayed in. Please accept my regret and apologies that we were unable to meet your expectations.

"Dog friendly" set new standards!!! Thank you to all at The Rosemount Hotel. We arrived in the rain, wet and unprepossessing. We were welcomed cheerful... a slight problem with the booking meant we hadn't included the pooches... no problem, just a small extra charge. The room was lovely and comfortable, and a very high standard for dogs. The hotel atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent... our area separate from other dog families and non dog owners... blissfully peaceful. Our food was fantastic... including my homemade Lemon and Ginger tea, and the dogs can't thank you enough for their bowl of sausages... The little things matter, and the dog towels by the front door on a wet and windy morning showed attention to detail... We hope to be back... Thank you.

Freindly and helpfull staff. Excellent breakfast. The only downside was that our room only had a window in the roof with no view but I think this was reflected in the price. It looked like most of the rooms had great views over Pitlochry.

Hello and thank you so much for a balanced, honest review. We are highly aware that our Economy room may not be ideal for everyone, because of the skylight window, but always hope that its relative price will signal the underlying compromise. Thank you for inclduing the observation that this is not the case with our other grades of room. It was a real pleasure to have you stay and we hope to be able to repeat this at some stage in the future. Best regards from the team at Rosemount Hotel.

Bed very comfortable and we had a lovely view of the surrounding countryside. Would question the use of the kettle. The cord did not reach the available socket with out transferring the kettle and base on to the floor. When the water had boiled, the kettle had to be lifted to the shelf to pour into the cups. Dangerous practice! The shape of the shower base - narrow in the middle - would not have allowed a well rounded person to enter the shower part without difficulty. Having washed my hair, I discovered that there was no plug socket anywhere close to a mirror. Lovely recessed mirror in the bedroom but no socket. New system in place to reduce food waste. Excellent idea. First morning no problem with the system but poached egg was rubbery and the spinach well over cooked, Second morning a couple of issues. Spoke to lady in charge who said to mention the problems to the staff as and when there was an issue. Next morning, although a point stressed in the welcome blurb said you would always have the same table, table was changed. Couldn’t see our number, asked, and given the answer in a tone which not many people would find acceptable. Thereafter there seemed to be several issues (wrong food, wrong drinks, no yogurt, no butter, wrong type of toast) with our table and the table we had been on also had issues. A new system needs careful monitoring to ensure it works for the benefit of both staff and customers and it is followed accurately. Staff need to accept they made a mistake graciously and correct the error.

Hello and thank you for an instructive review. Every day gives us new learning opportunities which are eagerly accepted. I apologise that you stayed a few days after we had a sudden loss of one able staff member due to family crisis, during our busiest week of the season. He was replaced, at almost unworkably short notice, with two new staff. These wonderful people are immensely dedicated to giving our guests the best experience and have settled well, very quickly, to rave reviews which are backed by high levels of personal appreciation from guests. However, the enormous strain put on them in their first few days left them a little overwhelmed by the intensity of demand. Thank you for your advice in this matter. Every piece of information is stored for future benefit and learning. I am delighted that you liked your room, except for the electrical arrangement regarding kettle and hair dryer. We always hope that our price-point, set well below some of the hotels in the area, signals a requirement for small compromises. It always disappoints us when critque of finer points in our fabric appears to overlook this. Each room is equipped to the best possible standard that can be supported by the tariff we charge. By and large, there are few complaints. One immutable fact is that some of our building is well over 100 years old. This is not, I think, any secret, as our online imagery paints a very clear picture. The fact presents interesting challenges in terms of up to the minute modernisation. Many folk find this of appeal, but some prefer nothing but modern convenience, which is fair enough. We try to accommodate all preferences. Therefore, whilst more than half of the building is modern and well serviced for electrical supply, the rooms in the delightful, but older original part have lathe and plaster walls. We are working at procuring grant aid to replace our internal walls in these few rooms with insulating material which will better support a miscellany of plugs. The work is impossibly detailed and beset with the kind of obstacles that rapid change presents to the general economy. Additionally, the required time for processing is not available during the season. However, as soon as the quiet spell returns, we shall take the next steps in achieving our goal, primarily to insulate, but also to better-equip the few rooms concerned. We regret that the inevitable service hiccups accompanying a sudden change of staff meant you caught us on a bad day. Its a shame that we shall not see you again.

This was our third visit - again we had a most enjoyable stay. The owners go out of their way to be welcoming and helpful. The food both at dinner and breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. Our dog Billy was welcomed in our room and in the bar are - he was very happy with the treats they gave him! The location (with parking ) is ideal for the short walk down to the centre. Our dog friendly room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Thank you again- we will be back !
