The Atholl Palace Hotel, the epitome of Scottish Baronial splendour, stands overlooking wooded parkland grounds and the town to the surrounding hills. Originally opened as the Athole Hydropathic in Victorian times, the hotel retains many features of the traditional large country house, with bedroom facilities and standards which often exceed expectations and complement spacious, relaxing public areas. With 107 bedrooms, self-catering lodges, apartments and 10 function suites we can cater for your needs whether it is leisure or business purposes.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arrived on Mon 26th Feb for my husbands birthday which was the 27th. We chose this hotel as 18 mths earlier we spent a week there and had a great time. This was a deal of DB&B. We chose 2 nights to celebrate. The whole experience of this hotel is beautiful, the service, hotel rooms, grounds and the food is very good, But the drinks are very expensive which you do expect of a hotel of this calibre. But when we went for dinner on the first night we couldn't believe that the cheapest bottle of white wine was £68 the red was £31 . We didn't have any wine needless to say and we did notice that no bottles of wine on any dining table but just glasses only. The drinks in the bar were just as bad as a Gin and tonic £ 5.50 for gin £4 for tonic. I did point out my displeasure when we checked out and the lady at reception wasn't aware of the wine prices and she seemed very shocked. I did say this has put us off going again which is sad as its a beautiful place.

Atholl Palace is beautiful building but while staying there for one night I felt like being in Shining film. There was nobody around. Hotel museum was very strange and especially the "games room"was quite frightning without any lights and being cold. Hotel room was tired and tv remote control was half broken (a tape was holding batteries in). I guess breakfast would have been nice but it was almost all gone when my family got there at 9 am (serving ends at 10) and there was no refilling. Also glasses where dirty - probably they mixed clean and dirty glasses by mistake or the dish washer did not work properly.

You will be hard pushed to get the welcome you get at Atholl Palace - all the staff will literally go out of there way for you with a smile from the cleaners to the manager. The food is delicious, rooms are all different but spotless, spa is kept well and has a gym, pool, steam room and sauna. Short walk in to Pitlochry but lovely walks out the back of the hotel. Fires burn all day in the lounge where you can really be very lazy if you want to! Thank you AP for a delightful stay! We will definitely be back xx

Terrific hotel. Sadley communication regarding promotions hadn't filtered to all staff. Suffice to say as a consequence our repeat visit fell short of expectations. Whilst lunch was most enjoyable our evening was less. These are merely my observations .I had other concerns however this will not deter me from further visits.

A group of us stayed here on a voucher for my sons 30th. and had a brilliant time. We stayed in interesting rooms - one had a lovely turret with window seat. The grounds were ideal for short if damp walk followed by a warm up in the pool , jacuzzi and steam room. The food was excellent and we really enjoyed Robert and his acoustic guitar in the bar. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. Many thanks all.

I have visited Athol Palace so many times. The reason for this is the fact that it is just so good. I have always enjoyed the food, the rooms and the hospitality of the place. I work away and when i book to attend a special occasion the staff are always so helpful, even recently i was in Africa working and they assisted me when trying to book my room, this ensuring that my wife and i had a great wedding anniversary. Due to the friendliness of the management and staff i will continue to book my wedding anniversaries, this was out 6th wedding anniversary stay and hopefully one more of many. I have read some bad reviews here online, and find it hard to see what they are complaining about. I love Athol Palace and i am always excited about rebooking. The ABBA night was also fantastic with a great range of ages. The food was fantastic i am not just saying this but it was amazing. I am already looking forward to my return. My daughter has been since and she also loved every second of it.

A perfect getaway from the daily grind. A lovely country house hotel, the decor is rustic but beautiful, staff were fantastic and very friendly. We stayed on a dinner bed & breakfast deal for 2 nights and everything was just fantastic. Both dinner's were very good and the breakfast buffet was outstanding, best haggis I've ever had. My wife used the soa and said it was perfect. The town is only a 10 minute walk and great for getting out and about, Pitlochry is a bit of a tourist trap and overly expensive.. but it's also a quaint little place with great food and shopping options. We booked through a "Wowcher" deal and the value is ridiculous.. £390 for dinner, bed & breakfast, I paid £40 extra to upgrade to a "valley view" room.. definitely worth it. Only downsides to this hotel, the drinks are ridiculously expensive.. £20 for 2 Gin and Tonics, cocktails were a minimum of £14 each, I've stayed at 5 star hotels that are significantly cheaper.. also I'd say the room could do with a bit of modernising. The small issues aren't enough to detract from how much we enjoyed our stay. We will absolutely be returning and have already recommended Atholl Palace to friends.

A lovely weekend break. The hotel is beautiful with an old-fashioned country house feel. Yes, the floorboards creak, but what do you expect in a hundred year old building. My initial response to being in a Garden Room was disappointment, no nice views, but our room was amazing! Spacious with a nice sitting area complete with feature fireplace. And a bathroom you could hold a dance in.it also had a fireplace. Prossecco and nibble were included in our deal. Dinner on both nights was lovely. I used the spa and can highly recommend it. We had a walk round the grounds and enjoyed seeing the Red Squirrels.

Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea experience this afternoon served by Euan. He was very attentive, polite and professional - a credit to the hotel. The afternoon tea itself was a lovely selection of tasty treats. Would highly recommend. Enjoyed it so much we have booked to go back and stay at the hotel.
