Very near the High Street but up a long drive, this property has commanding views over the hills. There is ample parking to the right of the building. It is not a hotel and does not provide evening meals but serves an excellent bespoke breakfast. We had e-mail confirmation from the owner Peter before we arrived, which was nice. It was just unfortunate that after a long drive and just wanting to see our room and use the WC, we had to sit in a front room and fill in a form with driving licence details and chose the breakfast we were to eat some 18 hours later! The charge for the room had been settled in advance so why all the fuss? That said, the room was stunning and really cosy - almost too warm. There was a large well appointed bathroom with nice Scottish toiletries and cosy towels. On a side table we found a kettle and tea-cups with tea/ cofee sachets etc and biscuits and some milk sachets; we could have done with more as we used ours in the evening. We headed out into the local town which is well served with nice restaurants and then enjoyed a comfortable sleep. The designer breakfast was served in a large dining room with wonderful views down the garden slope and across the hills. The food was first rate and served by a charming lady - Bakyt. Peter had made us feel welcome too and was good for local information about places to visit. We would consider using this guest house again as it was so lovely and not the run of the mill small hotel.

Stunning from arrival to departure. Unusual to say there was nothing negative about this Guest House but it is absolutely true. We stayed here for an overnight on our way home from a week in Aviemore and it was the best decision we made all week. Impressive is an understatement. It is not the cheapest in the area but we will gladly pay to stay here again. I could go on and on about the great food, the comfort of the room, the friendliness of the owners, the magnificent views and the gardens but why not come and see for yourselves that the ratings are true.

Reviews on trip advisor are sometimes amusing. I read the negative comments for The Wellwood and thought “a wee too much of the ‘highland’ air maybe?” We cane up from Glasgow for the night to visit ‘the enchanted forest’ which was neither enchanted or magical or anything else besides trees lit up at night and a great disappointment. However, what made our visit wonderful and saved what could have been a disastrous ‘unenchanted’ waste of time visit was staying here. Peter and his wife Bakyt we’re absolutely fabulous. The room cosy, warm and beautiful the bathroom large the shower GREAT. Breakfast was brilliant. I can recommend the whiskey porridge. Never had it before LOVED it. I thought, “I’d book here just to have breakfast”. I didn’t want to leave. I could envisage sitting in the lounge downstairs relaxing with a great book and a wee dram of my favourite whiskey and let the world go by. Mmmm maybe two or three drams. The building is amazing. I have to confess Peter, I was so tempted to go up the little narrow staircase that was closed off near our room ‘just to see what was up there’ and I’m sure the view over Pitlochry even better than from your dining room. To top it off, as we were leaving a rarely seen red squirrel appeared amongst the trees in the car park and as a keen photographer I was able to get several closeup photos with my telephoto lens. Without a doubt the best place to stay in Pitlochry and we’ve stayed at other places on previous occasions The Wellwood and hosts Peter and Bakyt are outstanding. Will definitely be back.

With almost endless amounts of hotels and guest houses to choose from in Pitlochry I can tell you that after a few hours of driving from Edinburgh we were not at all disappointed with our final choice. The building has old school charm but is well maintained with modern fittings and fixtures. A perfect blend of old and new. The bed and pillows gave us a solid nights sleep after hours of walking around the enchanted Forrest. Phone signal was never an issue despite on tap WiFi available throughout the guest. Every member of the guest house we talked to was incredibly professional, accommodating, efficient and happy. The breakfast was fast, delicious and custom to our wants/needs. And a short 3/4 minute wander away to the high street (with a big Co-op in between the two). Would stay again and would recommend!

What a lovely place to stay. Warmly welcomed on arrival. Our room was simply perfect and beautifully presented, as is the rest of the house, with the wonderful, lovingly restored, period features. The views each morning across the garden from both our bedroom and breakfast room, allowed us to relax and take in the autumnal delights. Great way to start each day . The Wellwood is a very short walk into Pitlochry , lots of places to eat out etc, super base to explore this lovely area. We visited the enchanted forest, Blair Atholl , The House of Bruar, Queens view, etc. etc..We were blessed with lovely weather, which showcases the beauty of the area even more. Thanks to Peter and the team, who were all so very attentive during our 3 day stay. Breakfast was a feast of delights, so much choice , setting you up for the day ahead. A must place to stay if visiting Pitlochry. Came home, feeling totally spoiled and relaxed, many thanks Peter from both of us

After deciding on a trip to Pitlochry I read the reviews on The Wellwood and felt that this lovely old house would be just the right place to stay. I wasn't disappointed, the house is delightful, the breakfasts were delicious, my room was spotlessly clean and Bakyt and Peter were perfect hosts. Attention is paid to small details and this says much about their high standards.

My wife and I stayed at The Wellwood Guest House as guests of Bakyt and Peter and we had a wonderful stay. This place was just amazing. Wonderful hosts and great food. We enjoyed our room and our stay but most of all we loved the royal treatment we received. Traditional Scottish breakfast was also a splendid surprise. If you are planning on traveling to Pitlochry, and you should, choose the Wellwood Guest House for the best accommodations in town. Thanks again Peter!

They are very attentive to your needs, rooms perfectly furnished. Even if you are not in one of the more pricey master rooms, you can still enjoy the lovely view from the lounge, or from the breakfast room. Drinks served in the lounge all day.

Must be one of the best places we ever stayed at (and there has been a few). A wonderful surprise when we arrived was that our room had been upgraded as a nice gesture from Bakyt and Peter due to the fact that this was a birthday trip. The room was absolutely marvelous and the view over the garden and Town Hall amazing. It felt like steeping into a Jane Austen novel. Petra welcomed us to breakfast and wow what a breakfast. Very much appreciated that lactose free alternatives were offered. Coming back home the first evening we enjoyed a nice dram and a glass of wine in the lounge while Peter gave us excellent suggestions on what to do the following day. All in all a world class stay! We could not have asked for anything more. Thank you so much with hopes of returning to you soon.
