Just popped in for an en route coffee. Was immediately ‘greeted’ by a blunt ‘put your mask on while you’re moving around’ by a member of staff. I work in hospitality myself and would never greet a customer this way, it’s important to respect that people by now know the risk of wearing or not wearing a mask. There are signs up, they know if they’re supposed to wear them so if they aren’t, let’s just assume that they have a reason not to be wearing one. I showed my mask exemption and was later asked the same again by another member of staff and had to yet again explain that I’m exempt. This is private and they should not be asking. As I sat down in the bar area by a cosy fire with my grandparents and sister, the member of staff then raised his voice from behind the bar to say that my sister and I must show ID to sit in the bar area. My Granny told him that my sister is 19, I’m 22 and we’re only here for coffee. But no… Proof must be provided, even at 2:30pm for an afternoon coffee. So, I went out to the car to get my ID. This is actually not legislation. The legislation is that after 9pm, under 18 year olds are not allowed to be in/around the bar area. During the day there is no problem with any age being in the bar, especially when the venue serves food. Perhaps the staff need some training in how to speak to customers politely and welcomingly. I’ll be going somewhere else next time I’m passing though Pitlochry. Thanks

This hotel is beautiful, exceptionally clean, and very friendly staff. Already recommended this place to a few people. The restaurant inside is lovely and cosy, and a lovely menu also. Would recommend the braised onion soup.

Firstly let me say the staff were lovely, very helpful. The room, however, which was meant to be a superior double was pretty awful, wallpaper hanging off, huge crack in the en-suite sink and on the floor. Pelmet hanging off. The bed was the most uncomfortable we have ever slept in and the furniture was stained. I hate to think what an ordinary double would look like
