Under New Ownership - Tigh Na Cloich is a beautiful family-run Guesthouse in the “heart of the highlands”. Situated in the Town Centre, but set back enough to enjoy the tranquillity and the most amazing panoramic views, Tigh Na Cloich is set in the perfect location for all the local amenities, and local events including Etape, Enchanted Forest, and all the Theatre productions at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. The building sits proudly at the site of one of the original Sentinel Stones, the name Pitlochry comes from the Gaelic "Pit Cloich Aire", meaning "place of the Sentinel Stone" and it was originally a Pictish settlement. The whole area is rich in standing stones, stone circles, and ancient sites, the most famous being the magnificently carved Dunfallandy Stone which dates back 1,200 years. There are a variety of natural features throughout the grounds and this beautiful Victorian building still retains many original features. The Tigh Na Cloich Guesthouse offers luxurious accommodation, a fully licensed bar service, and the most perfect setting for a deliciously home-cooked Scottish breakfast with sweeping views over the River Tummel. There are also opportunities for guests to enjoy various activities in and around the area including archery, clay pigeon shooting, falconry, golf, cycling, and lots more. Tigh Na Cloich is just a short distance from the A9 and Edinburgh is only 70 minute drive. Direct trains come into Pitlochry Station regularly making it totally accessible and the perfect place for that magical getaway. Families and couples alike particularly like the location with so much to offer. We look forward to welcoming you to Tigh Na Cloich House very soon.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very warm welcome was received. The whole place had special extra touches beyond what we expected. The bed and bedding were super-comfortable and cosy, the shower room was spotless as were other areas we had access to. A bespoke breakfast was expertly cooked by Steve. There was a terrific range of comfitures (I had marmalade flavoured with Laphroig whisky) to put on toast. As well as Highland Soap Co. toiletries being available in our room, there was a range of their gorgeous products available for purchase at Reception. We did not use the lounge area with bar, however it is a beautiful space to view the spectacular scenery from. Dinner at the fabulous Auld Smiddy Inn just down the hill on the corner was a delight.

Very comfortable beds, beautifully decorated and very friendly, accommodating hosts. Very clean. Breakfast excellent. We stayed in the downstairs twin room and I was initially a little concerned about noise from the corridor and reception next door but we weren’t bothered at all. Really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

We spent two nights here with Stephanie and Steve as our hosts. It was a perfect place to stay in Pitlochry within easy walking distance just down a minimal hill ( their backyard) into town. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast every morning was made to order and was delicious. On site parking was great. We were looking for a smaller inn experience, rather than staying in a hotel and Tigh na Cloich was perfect. Hosts were also helpful recommending local things to do.

We booked as going to a show in Festival Theatre, and got a really good price as breakfast was not included, but lucky for us they were trying out offering an out of season breakfast at an additional cost (price was in keeping with local places) breakfast was lovely and plenty of options etc, house is beautiful and room was spotless and cosy with a fantastic en-suite and amazing shower ( nice locally produced toiletries to use also), very friendly owners, and walk through garden takes you straight onto main street and a fab wee pub right there. Overall a fantastic relaxing 2 night break in a gorgeous B&B, will be returning and will recommend to others

Well, what can I say but how disappointed with our experience having seen the previous reviews. On arrival, no sign of the owners and only a written note at reception. Eventually came across the lady owner and when asked about breakfast, we learned that there would be NO hot breakfast because her husband was away. Our room was very cold on entry and on our request, the owner eventually, increased the temperature on the thermostat. Opposite the dining room, there was a door with a sign which read “Private” which appeared to be the bar (something else unavailable due to there being no husband?). The front garden is on a very steep incline and is the pathway to the town. However, at night there is limited lighting here, which resulted in a most unfortunate event. On our return to the hotel on our first night, the lighting was non existent and we had to resort to mobile phone torchlight. Then, just at the last couple of steps, one of our party tripped and fell resulting in cut to mouth and bruised wrist and face. All-in-all, a very unsatisfactory experience and I might suggest that if booking, check on the availability of the husband.

Response from Tigh na Cloich House, Owner at Tigh Na Cloich House
Responded 18 Nov 2023
We’re so sorry that you were disappointed, we were trialling a room only option this winter, whereby the rooms are almost half the full season price. We clearly communicated regarding breakfast and check-in via email, so to have a room for less than £70 per night in Pitlochry we feel is extremely good value, we're not aware of any rooms of our quality at this price point. There are 7 places where you could have purchased a cooked breakfast in less than 5 min walk. As to your temperature comment we do try and regulate the temperature for all guests and despite some being cold, many will have their windows open. As per our sign you could have asked for an additional heater??? it was a shame that you didn't mention ANY of these points during your stay.....Lastly, we’re terribly sorry that you struggled on the path, we have over 2,000 guests using that path each year and you’re the first to comment, so we are extremely sorry if you found this a challenge (also, my husband was away for a family commitment and this did in no way impact our low cost winter offering to yourselves). For the benefit of TripAdvisor readers we are intending to offer a full cooked option for the remainder of the season.
