Shetland Glamping is a small family run glamping site at Rerwick in Shetland’s southwest mainland. Situated 8 miles from Sumburgh Airport and 18 miles from Lerwick, our luxury glamping pods enjoy glorious sea views in what is a very peaceful and scenic part of the islands. Each pod has a double bed, bunk beds and a sofa bed so can sleep a maximum of six, making them ideal for families, but also couples too. The pods also contain a spacious shower room, a well-equipped kitchenette with hob, combi oven/microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster, as well as a living/dining space. Our pods also feature underfloor heating, smart TVs, free superfast wifi, integrated Bluetooth speakers and USB wall sockets. All bedding and towels is provided. Outdoors, each pod has its own private chipped area out front with a picnic table. The site also has a large communal child’s play area and on-site parking. With stunning scenery, an abundance of wildlife, numerous sandy beaches and a variety of visitor attractions, the south mainland has something for everyone and, at Shetland Glamping, our guests will be well placed to experience all that the area has to offer.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed in one of Shetland Glampings pods for work at the end of November. A well designed and laid out pod. Well heated especially with the time of year and the freezing temperatures outside. The wifi was good and all the amenities you could want were there. Information for your stay was laid out in a handy format for you to review and the hosts were very helpful responding to any questions in a decent timescale. All in all a good experience and one I would recommend to anyone looking for something little bit different than the normal hotel stay for work.

We stayed for one night in the Maalie pod, which had everything that you could need! The pod had been furnished and equipped to a high standard and was spotlessly clean. The view from the pod was beautiful and we hope to visit again soon.

We had a lovely three day stay in the Shetlands. We enjoyed staying in our pod, it had everything we needed - it had a cooker, a microwave and sky tv! We had a beautiful view overlooking the sea. John, our host, was in touch several times to sure we had everything we needed. I’d highly recommend the pods for a place to stay in the Shetlands, you will not be disappointed!

We stayed at Shetland Glamping for three nights and it was an amazing experience. The pod was really nice and well equipped, the view was amazing and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. Perfect spot for a family trip, but also great for couples or friends looking for some peace and quiet.

We had an excellent stay in the pods. Absolute 5* accommodation and the hosts went the extra mile to make sure our stay was comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable. On arrival I received a warm welcome message from the host, just checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. I really felt like it was important to them that we had the best staying experience. Would definitely stay again, and recommend it.

The pod and surrounding site was immaculate and welcoming, with a lovely view. We stayed in the Maalie pod, which was sparkling clean, very well equipped and the beds were very comfortable and cozie. The children’s outdoor play area was also a huge hit with our children. The owners were very helpful and a pleasure to communicate with. We will be back and highly recommend staying here.

We really enjoyed our stay in the pod! It was very well designed and equipped and furnished to a high standard. Warm and comfortable. It's in a lovely setting and the view was beautiful. Waking up to the sound of curlew, oystercatcher, skylark and sheep was a real treat. The location is great - not too far from either Lerwick with its facilities including the arts centre Mareel and the Shetland Textile Museum, and Sumburgh Head with its wide variety of wildlife, including orca (which we were lucky enough to see) and numerous seabirds, including puffin. Rerwick has a very lovely beach which is also a protected seal 'haul-out' so care needs to be taken not to disturb the sleeping seals (about 50 of them when we were there). But all around there is great scenery and wildlife. Bigton Community Shop was brilliant. It's about 2.2km from the site, open 7 days a week, has a Post Office (limited opening hours), is incredibly well stocked and is community-run. All in all - a fantastic place to stay (especially for nature lovers) with very welcoming, helpful and friendly (but not instrusive) hosts. Highly recommended.

We stayed as a family of 5 in the Shalder pod, and really enjoyed it. The pods were really clean, organised and homely. They had all the kitchen utensils you would ever need and modern technology. Really loved the underfloor heating. All the beds were comfy. The kids loved the bunk beds. We used the fire pit to roast our marshmallows and there’s a great outdoor climbing frame for the kids to play on. The owners were really helpful, if you needed anything they were available. Highly recommend the pods for a place to stay in Shetland. Looking forward to staying again in the future
