Went in here for lunch/dinner on Saturday. 2 courses for £10 or 3 for £12.50
I had been here before so thought why not at these prices. I had chicken wing starter and rump steak for main which had a £10 surcharge. My daughter had fish and chips and ice cream and fudge cake. All in all real value for money except and this is one that really bugs me. I was asked when I ordered if I wanted sauce and quickly looked the menu for a price but wasn’t one. So thought maybe free or average £2-3
When I got the bill it was £3.95 which is way overpriced I’ve been in steak houses and some fancy restaurants and never paid this...
I won’t let it put me off but I’d go back. Just wouldn’t order sauce.

I booked this hotel at fairly short notice, immediately impressed by reception staff - very attentive and offered bits of information that could be helpful. I remember the hotel/bar area from a number of years ago and the layout has slightly changed, however the actual hotel bar is very welcoming with impressive management and what appeared to be regular friendly customers. There is an additional bar/diner area that can be used for breakfasting also, again friendly staff with good choices on the menu.

Overall impressed with my stay, due to business and exceptional weather I was out of the hotel all day on both days, but arriving back in the evening on both nights I made use of the bar and also had breakfast. If I found any fault at all, and I am personally not complaining, but because the room was fairly spacious, the smallish TV would perhaps annoy some folk.

Good establishment, excellent staff and a fair price.

Excellent location in town centre but limited onsite parking. Available paid parking in square opposite hotel but be sure to be up before 8am to put your ticket on dashboard. Spotlessly clean with facilities exactly as advertised. I would rate 2.5 to 3 star and value for money if visiting family/friends, attending a local wedding, enroute to/from Stranraer/Cairnryan ferry or just wanting to tour around North Ayrshire.

Stayed with a group (12) for the night and the staff (special mention to Kirsty) could not have done more to make our stay a very enjoyable experience.

Dealing with the Hotel with the booking regarding changing rooms ,booking dinner etc was excellently handled throughout and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

The food at the Hotel could only be described as FANTASTIC.

portions were huge with quality of the highest order.

Again the staff in this department were fantastic as spoke to the chef to congratulate him on his wonderful produce for dinner and he then even surpassed that with a magnificent array of dishes at breakfast time with the emphasis agin on remarkably fresh produce expertly served.

The Hotels "cafe" (Meridon Cafe) attached to the hotel where breakfast was served also has some of the best coffee I have had in a very long time again served with effeciency and enthusiasm.

All in all this is a very good hotel with incredibibly reasonable prices with staff who konw about custome rservice.

would highly recommend.

We arrived on Friday afternoon for a very long awaited break. First impressions were ok. Staff friendly.
The bedroom was quite small and the outlook from the window was awful! Basically a building and the car park. The mattress was possibly the most uncomfortable we’ve ever slept on! But we carried on with our much needed weekend away. And I would not have been writing this review.
Until Saturday evening!
We totally understand that it was the first weekend of freedom for Scotland but a heads up that there would be horrendously loud live music playing until midnight would have been very much appreciated! It was so loud we had not a chance of sleeping.
If the fact live music was on the cards had been truthfully made public it would’ve been our choice. But it totally spoiled our weekend.
My advice would be to ask if this was going to happen before booking.
Absolutely awful doesn’t cover it. Highway to hell at full volume so the walls are vibrating is just not faint at midnight.
We would’ve left immediately had we not have had such a long journey home. 6 am this morning was not soon enough to get out of there.
One positive! The breakfast was lovely.

My husband and I stayed here whilst attending a nearby wedding. Having travelled from London and needing to be at the wedding venue at a certain time we had emailed to enquire about an early check in which was very kindly accommodated.

Kirsty was especially helpful in researching our travel options to get to the church on time and booked it all for us.

The facilities were all perfect and we had access to everything we needed. The bar staff were also great, very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again and the town centre location is extremely handy.

Recently stayed here for 1 night while in the area to see a show at the nearby Gaiety Theatr I was allowed to check-in slightly earlier than usual which I appreciated & I was given room 15. It was slightly what I call old fashioned but nice & clean/tidy, spacious and comfortable. A huge shout out goes to the manager Kirsty on front desk, she was a lovely lady who seems to really go above and beyond in her role & is chatty, helpful and then looked after my luggage on check out day while I went for a stroll around the town before going back to Glasgow on the train later that afternoon. Food is also very tasty as after checking in I went down to the bar and had BBQ bacon burger with fries and it was the tastiest one I've had for quite a long while. All in all , a really pleasant brief stay, good value for money, and a hotel that I would book to stay at again when I'm next up in the nice area of Ayr . Thanks again to all the staff & keep up the good work.

We stayed for one night on 30th April 2023 and the location is perfect in Ayr town centre. Kirsty at the reception desk was friendly and welcoming, exactly what you look for in terms of customer service. Small car park at the rear. Rooms immaculate although slightly dated. Breakfast at the Meridian next door was excellent. Drinks available in the bar. Would recommend and will return. Thank you.

We visited 1 week ago for a funeral buffet and were extremely happy with the food and service.
The food was excellent and presented beautifully. The staff were lovely and very attentive. Lots of food which was extremely good value for the price paid.
We most certainly will pay another visit when in Ayr.
Thank you and well done!
