Due to stay in 2020 until the government told us not to travel and who later told us that we should be refunded. Well guess what, after communications with the owner, no refund. Find out that they applied and failed to have the hotel demolished and a care home built in its place. Let's just say that's a lucky escape for those potential vulnerable residents. In all these years I have never had the misfortune to deal with those who lack honesty and integrity. The hotel will more than likely never reopen. However it it a listed company with Companies House. I strongly recommend all of us who have been let down to make sure these directors never have control of a company again.
We loved the Parkstone and stayed on many occasions so it makes me so sad to think we will never be back. We had 4 rooms booked to celebrate a birthday but then Lockdown came. We understood the blow that meant to the hotel so we were happy to wait until things went back to normal rather than expect a refund. On recently contacting the hotel we were advised that our booking had EXPIRED and we were not entitled to our stay or a refund!! They refused to speak to me on the phone and eventually stopped answering my emails. Totally unbelievable - I just don't know how those responsible for this treatment of a good customer can sleep at night! I
Myself and my mum were supposed to be staying here from 23/10 -25/10. We checked in with the assistant at the reception who then took us to our room & advised we could upgrade to a sea view for an extra £10. We decided to do this as we were staying to enjoy a relaxing weekend. Once we entered the room my first impression was that it was a little run down but no big deal. After sitting down I noticed the dust on the bedside tables. Not just a small amount but THICK with dust. The mirror on the back of the door had obviously not been touched since the last person stayed & was covered in hand prints / dirty marks. Upon closer inspection the bathroom floor was absolutely appalling - thick with dirt & dust. My mum went to the receptionist - embarrassed to ask for our money back & was simply told ‘no’. So we then headed back home £133 / £143 (if you include the ‘upgrade’) lighter & our weekend is ruined. Surely in these current times due to COVID-19 cleanliness & hygiene is the most import thing? It literally hadn’t been cleaned since the last guest had stayed (god knows how long ago that was). I didn’t want to go down the route of leaving a negative review but it has now been 2 days & I am being blatantly ignored by management. Shambles of a place. I am sick to my stomach thinking of the state of the room - with all that is going on just now with the virus they couldn’t even clean the room properly? I have attached pictures of how ‘clean’ the room was. (I have videos but this review only allows pics)…
We were looking forward to our stay here. Sadly, after they'd taken our payment, just before our stay they informed us the kitchen was closed, and the breakfast we'd paid for was replaced by a continental breakfast, and we wouldn't be able to have dinner there either. The hotel is in a lovely area, with sea views, but is a bit neglected. We do, however, understand the under the current situation, it could be unwise for them to spend on renovations. The staff were lovely, even though they were understaffed and very busy.
Stayed here for two nights, hotel decor is tired, but, the character and charm makes up for it. Stayed in a Sea view twin room beds, view is amazing, comfy bed, the bathroom and room where cleaned to a good standard. With covid all members of staff were wearing masks and adhering to the regulations, bar closed at ten. Etc. Breakfast is only continental as kitchens are closed, there is an adequate choice. The Manager, James. I must say does an exceptional job, he made us feel so welcomed and is so professional in the running of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel, we can't wait to come back, hopefully when covid is over and see the hotel up and running as it was.
