The Rob Roy Hotel is situated at the gateway to the Trossachs in beautiful countryside where one of Scotland's most famous rogue's "Rob Roy McGregor" once roamed. The Hotel is an ideal centre for touring the Trossachs, Perthshire and the Highlands. The little picturesque village of Aberfoyle is just 1 mile from the Hotel and is host to three visitor centres, The Scottish Wool Centre, The David Marshall Lodge and the Scottish Tourist Board's very own Discovery Centre. The historic city of Stirling is only 18 miles away, and here you can find our sister hotel The King Robert, situated next door to The Bannockburn Centre, on the site of the famous battle.

This is our 3rd visit once again we can say it’s excellent the staff terrific set us up with table in lounge for our meals so we could have our dog there. Room we had had all you need tea coffee biscuits clean towels and bedding and very handy next to fire exit for taking our Black Labrador out car parked just beside the door made access to our room easy accessible. The breakfast in morning had everything a full Scottish could ask for to much to mention enjoyed the night entertainment a look alike Billy Connolly one night and a very good singer the next . I will be going back that’s for sure . Shops just along the road for anything you’ve forgotten.

Stayed for 2 nights, got a great deal. We were really impressed and felt safe with the COVID-19 measures in place. Location was brilliant especially if you like walking and enjoy nature and countryside which was one of the reasons we booked the Rob Roy (have also stayed at their sister hotel at Stirling). We could not fault the staff or the food, although, I would mention the first night at dinner, we hardly had any time between courses which we ended up feeling far too full. Quality of the food could not be faulted. Compliments to the chef .... very tasty. On our second night for evening meal we did ask if we could have 5 / 10 minutes between courses which they accommodated 👍 this made a huge difference by the end of the meal, didn’t feel so uncomfortably full. Breakfast could not be faulted either, all table service with a great selection including a good vegetarian full breakfast. All staff we came across were all lovely. In the dining room, all tables and chairs were sanitised after each customer leaving.
Rooms - a bit tired looking but ........ very comfortable, large room, great shower, hairdryer etc . One big thing for me, unlike most hotels the temperate in the room was ideal. I had such a great sleep both nights. My hubby asked for more pillows for the second night, they were outside the door in wrapping on our return (staff are not allowed in rooms after you arrive until you leave). I would definitely return especially at the price we got our 2 nights for. I really do feel sorry for them not being able to sell alcohol as they must lose so so much money. Wishing this hotel /staff well in these unprecedented times. Hope to see you all again. Well done with all the measures you have put in place to keep everyone safe including yourselves 👍

We have been visiting the Rob Roy for several years and can confirm they still provide excellent service, food and accommodation.
This is the first time we've visited since Covid took hold and write to advise future guests, the staff and Hotel has been very well laid out to keep distances and has loads of gel stations placed throughout the hotel. Great to see many of the same faces (even behind masks) of Hotel staff who are always polite and accommodating to anything asked for. The dining room is well laid out so as to follow social distancing but not so that you feel you are eating alone.
The food as always was excellent which we were worried about in these challenging times, but will confirm, choice, cooked and presented in the same manner we have been acustomed to in years previously. We have never had a bad meal at Rob Roy always having meat, fish and poultry dishes to choose from every night alongwith salad and vegetarian options. The serving staff cannot do more for you and are polite, friendly and chatty.
The room was warm 32'' tv on wall with enough channels to keep us entertained aftger our meal at night.
We again went mid week break which is fantastic value B and B and evening meal.
Special mention for Alice who was assisting us at meal times and nice to see you back at Rob Roy this year. We will of course be returning next year and the next and the next .....

Enjoyable stay. Great value deal but what currently is just as important is the process and procedures in place to cope with the current COVID situation. All areas cleaned regularly and attention to detail around tables and chairs was very reassuring. The guidance on visors changed during our visit and the staff procedure immediately changed to follow the guidelines. The hotel is in a great location and fuelled by a good breakfast we were able to tour about to work up an appetite for our tasty three course dinner.

We have just stayed at this hotel as part of a 2 day break. We were, understandably, wary but there was no need. The receptionist told us they are only letting out 40% of rooms and the place is spotless with 24 hours rooms lying empty between new folks coming in. Signage everywhere. Food served in sittings. Lots of space and sanitisers everywhere. Staff wearing masks and shields and very friendly. The price is amazing and while the food isn’t fancy, it is tasty and “real”. Amazing that they can do this for these prices. I would like to say that you can have confidence that, if you are careful, so are these guys and so get out and support these careful businesses instead of cramming into unsafe pubs right now. There are lots of businesses doing well with the restrictions (pubs and hotels) so why not reward those guys with your business.

Firstly this hotel is very safe and clean. Tables are all socially distant in the bar and restaurant. Servers all wore masks and very efficient. Food was average and sometimes good. Extra sittings put on to make it less people in restaurant and therefore safer.Rooms were spotless as you would expect and beds very comfy. All in all a very good budget hotel. One I would definitely return too.

Booked this hotel at last minute in July as got a great 2 night dbb deal. On arrival the lady on reception was really nice, we got our keys and went to our room. On first thought of the building we thought it looked a bit dated, but getting into our room it was totally fine nothing fancy but clean enough and there was a seal on the door to let us know it had been sanitised.
The meals were fine not big portions but tasty enough.
Breakfast first morning was a bit slow, waited for ages for our cooked breakfast and other tables were getting there’s first even though they had ordered after us. We were a bit annoyed at it but you know what it was there first time serving breakfast in months so thought can’t be helped the staff are just getting into the swing of it again. Second morning was totally fine quick service.
The bar prices were reasonable but overly priced.
All the staff serving and the bar maid were nice enough.
What we also liked about this hotel is being able to take our new dog who we just got in June so didn’t really want to leave her with anyone.
There is a short walk into aberfoyle, the walk is really nice and takes no time at all with a few good bars in the village to.
We were hoping to book for October again with the kids again but unfortunately fully booked.
We will be back some day.

We stayed in this hotel as part of an Alfa coach holiday. We were very pleasantly surprised, it was nicer than we expected and excellent value for money

Rooms and public areas absolutely spotless! The beds and pillows were so comfortable with quality linen, I slept so well! The bathroom was spotless with fluffy towels and toiletries provided. The room had a well stocked hospitality tray, hair dryer and TV

3 course meals were excellent, well cooked, well presented and well served with a choice of at least four items per course. Breakfast is buffet style and super quality ingredients used. All staff very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is ground floor and first floor low level long buildings meaning if you request a quiet room as we did you may have a long walk! which was ok with us (those with poor mobility should request a room near to reception and dining room)

The hotel is situated next to an all weather footpath that takes you directly to Aberfoyle approx 1 mile a lovely walk in countryside.

We have just returned from a 2 night break. We just wanted to get away for a few days and recharge our batteries. We arrived just about 3pm and was quickly checked in. We went up to our room which was a good size and with a shower en suite which looked like it had recently been modernised and was spotless. There was also tea coffee etc in the room. Oh and a hairdryer (not that I needed that). We went down to the bar and had an afternoon drink and we met friends who had also booked we then went for dinner at 7pm and had a really good 3 coarse meal (which was included in our booking) and it was really good our waitress was very very nice and gave us a good laugh. After dinner we returned to the bar and the was a guy signing Scottish songs which went down a treat and he had them all up dancing. The following night was the same but a younger guy singing a total mixture of songs and again had everyone tapping there feet.
The hotel was much better than I had expected and with the good deal we got I would highly recommend it.

Unsure actually but you could ask for lower ground. The actual rooms are separate from hotel dining and bar area…that’s only a couple of steps between them too

When we were there on the Tuesday there was a singer on. They also do lots of tribute nights during various months. Check with the hotel as the staff are so helpful.
