My friend Pat and I had two wonderful full days spent with Lindsay as he toured us around the Isle of Mull. It was the easiest and best way for us to do a total circle tour of Mull on their single track roads. Lindsay and I worked together to plan the route and stops and he was totally open to stopping anywhere along the route to share information about the area.
One day was a little wet but our spirits weren't dampened and the rain made for lush overflowing waterfalls all over the island. If you follow the photos you'll be able to follow our trail.
Lindsay was courteous and knowledgeable with lots of local history and a lovely sense of humour....a very interesting person. Naturally his driving was tops.
Whether you're staying at Skerryvore B&B which I know would be excellent or whether you need transportation to see the local sites on Mull, nobody would be better suited to help you than Lindsay.

Skerryvore stands minutes from The Bay at The Back of the Ocean and the beautifully built living room/kitchen area offers stunning views of the bay. There is a telescope next to the cosy sofa and armchair which is a lovely touch, and we used it to stargaze on our second night.
Breakfast is served in this room and it was lovelt to look out at the sea (and the sheep and lambs!) whilst enjoying a truly excellent breakfast! We had a cooked breakfast each morning which was made to order and delicious each time. The kitchen is more than equipped for cooking lunch and dinner, although we ate out for these meals.
Our bedroom was very spacious, again with a wonderful view out towards the ocean, and a super comfy bed! The ensuite bathroom was bright and modern, with a very good shower. Both of these rooms, like the shared living room/kitchen, were immaculately clean.
Even though there is limited phone signal on the island, there is complimentary WiFi at Skerryvore - this came in very useful when Mike proposed during our stay and we had lots of excited messages to send to family and friends!
Lindsay and Joyce were wonderful hosts - very friendly and full of invaluable local knowledge. Joyce collected us from the ferry which was very kind, and dropped us off on departure, too. My late father grew up on Iona, which was one of the reasons we were so keen to visit, and they kindly told us where I could find the house that we were looking for, where he lived. They also recommended places to eat and routes to walk which proved to be excellent suggestions!
All in all we really couldn't recommend a stay at Skerryvore more. Thank you so much Lindsay and Joyce for a truly 5 star stay! We will definitely be back (as soon as possible!)

First off, the view from your bedroom is magnificent. It is overlooks the sea and green meadows leading up to it. I found out later that the "meadows" were part of an 18 hole public golf course....it was hard to know even while walking it because there were cows and sheep everywhere. Even the flags to the various holes appeared dim to the enormous beauty of the environment.
Secondly, the accomodations were wonderful. There are two bedrooms, bright and sunny with their own bathrooms, and then a common room with a kitchen and seating area. At first, I was a little nervous sharing a common room but I had wonderful company with two retired ladies traveling through Europe. They were delightful. We shared a few meals and some wine together.
Third, the owners, Joyce and Lindsay were so kind and warm and delightful. While both worked (and live on the first floor), they were always attentive to detail and helpful on any number of subjects. The rooms and common room were cleaned and maintained everyday and it was terrific to come back, after a long walk, and find a beautifully clean place and a few lemon cookies to start the evening.
I guess with all its five star reviews, that the word is out on Skerryvore but it was a delight for the almost two weeks I stayed there. It still felt like a secret undiscovered world. I did not have a car and walked into town which was probably a mile or so away or sometimes caught a lift from Joyce or Lindsay.
I have posted some pictures of the natural beauty of the place. There is one picture on the current page that discouraged me from initially staying there....it was the two story shot with what appeared to be a stucco, unlandscaped first floor and frankly, looked a tad shabby (sorry)...that concern immediately went away once I arrived. It has the best location, location and the kindest proprietors. It made me have faith in people again!
Disappointed that they would not consider any discount for single occupancy of one of the rooms, and not sure how it would feel if there were two separate parties occupying the communal space. Given that we'd paid for 4, but only 3 staying, it then seemed churlish that there seemed to minimal provision of the extras, it felt odd when everything else felt so well provided for.
Overall though it was a lovely place to be, and the friendliness of the welcome, and setting more than made up for any minor rationing.
