The hostel is wonderful. The views are lovely and it is a short walk to some amazing beaches. The rooms, bathrooms and common areas were all spotlessly clean. Towels were available as well, for a minimal price. I don't always love hostels, but I'd go back there in a minute. Iona is a wonderful place to be, and this is...

Iona Hostel is easily the finest hostel I have stayed in. Julia really is an incredible host and her calming presence informs the whole atmosphere in what is a truly relaxing escape from the bustle of city life. The most beautiful beach is about a minute's walk from the hostel, where the water is variegated shades of blue that I...

We had a couple of wonderful days staying at John's shepherd's bothy which is an artistic and modern take on an old fashioned gypsy wagon. It was located slightly away from the main hostel so there was peace and privacy to go with the stunning views of duni and the Treshnish Isles. It was comfortable, warm, spotlessly clean and we...

The owner, John, clearly planned before he built. This place has the most wonderful hum and feel to it--from the immaculate kitchen and common area to the poems stapled to the bunk above you. A smooth operating machine and delightful space in a most extraordinary place. This is a real gem, don't miss it!

Brilliant hostel. The hostel is welcoming and clean, and John, the owner is helpful and friendly. It's on the far end of the island, so be prepared for about a 40 minute walk when you first get in at the pier. The views are beautiful, from both the common room and the dorms, and there are beaches a short walk...

The hostel has a fantastic location on the magical island of Iona and is just a short walk to a fantastic beach. I loved everything about this place and will hopefully be quick to return. This is a gem.

Stayed here only for one night but wished it was for more. Was recommended to stay here through an Edinburgh-based family member and found this to be a gem! We experienced an hour delay for our ferry from Oban to Mull, and you should have seen how rushed and bothered we were, driving on that single lane, winding roads, neglecting...

I don't know how to describe the warm and welcoming feeling that I had when we got to this place. The people were very friendly, great decor of the house (especially kitchen and 'hang out' part of the house), VERY clean, LOVED the eco concept and I just wish I could stay for like a month cause it was such...

It may look like a shed but that is further from the truth you can imagine. Once inside the place is very special; it is warm, facilities are clean and it is well equipped. We stayed for two night during storms in March in the two bedded room and had a fantastic time. John and Mark were very helpful checking...
